Hi Richard I did not see your post about Burnham until after I read this one so apologies for asking something that you had already answered. Thanks for the tips for Burnham The south coast wrecks are a bit slow for pollack at the moment but that should improve soon and there are some eels about. Certainly likely to be bigger than up in your stretch. So I hope you get a few if the skipper anchors up. Where do you fish from? Charlie
  5. I have now seen my workload for the early summer and seem to have the first May bank Holiday clear I see from the tide book that the tides are just coming up to Springs. Weather permitting I will have a Pass to take Alfresco across for the first time, [birthday treat] but have a few questions 1. do the Members who have been before consider the timing and tides good enough to make the trip viable? 2. What are the target species? Ether around the islands or on Route 3. Would anyone like to buddy up with their boats? 4.I am not sure if Sam will be able to come, if not I would have space for 2, if he comes only 1, but I am afraid sleeping guests onboard would be a problem. 5. would someone like to give me a starter on areas to fish and catch bait etc [ Treated in confidence and respected of course] If the admin team wish to move this to restart the Alderney thread please be my guest. Thanks in advance Charlie
  6. Paul It was a very good teaching aid Good to show Dan what could happen to his, if he doesnt look after it Charlie

Hi and welcome to the Clubs Forum The lads are off to Burham, on Sunday so any info on how the channel is fishing may be very useful. I am sure they would give you a good reception if you wanted to join them on the water Charlie
  8. only Codling to 20lb max Nice quote Tom wish we suffered such small fish Charlie By the way how is the boat coming on?
  9. You are right Gordon The pans stay
  10. Dom these are good tides for the deeper marks or wrecks Wish I was not working, Charlie
  11. I look forward to reading the full details Someone must have scratched a few points. there seemed to be plenty of us out there fishing. We opted to try offshore and accept any bycatch We got a few eels but nothing else near the wreck, then we had a few dogs and pout on a bank in the last 90 min. Charlie
  12. Blimey Mate The boat will be flying now without all the extra kit. I am trying not to overload Alfresco, but she is already carrying extra "Spares" buckets bait boards cooking pans etc etc. Charlie
  13. Hi Fred Glad you all got back OK on that big Cat, I bet you had an interesting time I have been in Braye a few times in that weather and its not nice having to decide wether to stay in the rough harbour or set off across the channel Charlie
  14. Nice pictures she really does look good Thanks for the comments about Alfresco, We have built her to code but will not go the whole way unless fuel costs dictate or the boys and I change our mind to start chartering. The website name on her is the makers Charlie
  15. Rich S I have one space tomorrow if you want it, have tried to call you without success can you call me on my mobile. I do not think we will be scratching though, weather permitting in the morning we intend to try a bit further out first Charlie
  16. Thanks BOB I have the boat back on her mooring but I could bring her in to the Marina on Monday at 5 ready if you want. I was going to call you to see if you wanted to join us tomorrow, but I presume you and Adam have a shopping list to sort out Call me when its conveniant Charlie
  17. Well done mate I know what its like to get to the end of a big project I hope you get as much fun being back afloat as me and the boys have CU on the water Charlie
  18. Thanks Mike Tight lines all Charlie I think Prodigy is also fishing with Gary, Peter and Tom
  19. sounds like the one although it does seem a bit over dramatic we usually put an anchor out off the bow and go back on the flooding tide to get the boat I am sure one of the 4 ribs could have done that, never mind they are all safe which is the main thing. Charlie
  20. I was watching that from my office, and I must admit thinking that they were definatly in overkill on the number of boats in attendance
  21. Bob I have been ages waiting for matt to look at the link between my Lowrance my Icom VHF and the Radar. Do you fancy a trip sometime while I pick your brains. Charlie
  22. Sorry Duncan you are right I forgot the steering oil, funnels etc As for torches I have a fairly good one tucked down next to the helm seat and I have a 500watt spotlight on an long lead that can plug into any of the cigar lighter type sockets in the cabin/hold and engine bay. Charlie
  23. Hi All As its the first one of the season, I thought I would remind you that if you need bait from Alex please give him a call and a bit of notice Charlie
  24. For what its worth I Carry Engine spares, Belts, Spare impellor, Oil and Fuel filters, fuses. Engine and stern drive Oil, engine coolant. Boat spares Lamps for Nav lights, deck lights, fuses for bilge Pp's electrical tape, various crimp on fittings, various lengths sizes of hoses and jubillee clips. cable ties, rubber bungs, rags some sealant, General purpose grease, spray oil, and anti moisture spray and of course most important a good collection of tools No point in being a Marine Engineer and carrying half a ton of spares if you do not have tools available. Hope that helps Charlie, [i am sure as the boat grows older so the list will become longer.]
  25. Nice one Dan all the effort Planning and an early alarm call seemed to bring a well worthy good day. Charlie
