  1. at last the major parts are starting to come together the 1st of four large boxes arrived yesterday with the Volvo D4 tomorrow should see the other boxes delivered and time to play at the back of the boat for a while. Charlie
  2. Great Job Alan [and Rupe of course] equaled the Club record that has stood for 11 years three weeks ago and now add another 6 ounces to it I have added it to the book, Paul can you update the record list on the website mate. You lads really do know your bassing. Charlie
  3. Matt If its easier I have the complete set here if you want to borrow them they are hinged and on timber boards to make it easier to use once they are hot. Call me on my mobile Charlie
  4. Aparently the crew wanted to keep and eat the first shark None of them seemed to amused by my comments, which were delibratly load so they all heard them including the skipper. Steve said that it took over an hour to get to the boat and was floating tail down by the time it did so. An amazing fish, just a shame to see it dead on the quayside surounded by grockles Charlie

Well done all and in case anyone is wondering the results were posted to them for the first 2 comps and should appear next month Charlie
  6. Nice one Paul well done Charlie
  7. Charlie If the Great white report in corwall is/was true he is already well off his patch and compared to being the wrong side of the atlantic I suppose going around Lands End is nothing to worry about. Charlie
  8. I do not think you could DIY a new one They are obtained from engine dealers not usually chandlers I suggest phone around the local ones and spread the net untill you find one If I can help call my mobile and give me engine details I will nip down the lane to select or yellow Penguin for you Charlie
  9. Mike all I can say is we gave you the right name Adam glad its sorted mate, its probably black PVC Charlie
  10. Thanks Coddy I have emailed them to remove the advert I heard nothing from anyone via them and thought it had just expired Duncan I am sure the old shark fisherman will leave the name as it is and hope to catch a rogue Great white on its travel from padstow or newquay [if last summers press is to be believed] Charlie
  11. Nice one guys Charlie
  12. Good luck with the trip I have just spoken to the chap who bought my boat. she is now in Looe Cornwall. He has just had the first shark onboard Great White a 76lb Blue and is very happy. charlie
  13. Adam I am surprised you are struggling so much the big fendering on the new boat is fairly easy to elongate by pulling It may be the friction inside the channel try lubricating the inside of the channel with the washing up liquid and using the heat we are enjoying to keep the rubber flexible, then pull like hell Hope that helps Charlie
  14. Save yourself the grief and Fumes on reading my earlier comment it sounds like strange advice from someone building a boat from GRP in this heat. How high do you flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Charlie
  15. Yes mike i agree There is nothing to gain but the good feeling of having done someone that you do not even know a favour. May the fishing gods smile on your next bass trip Charlie
  16. Tom Take up the offer Buy the floats save yourself the grief and fumes and go fishing with the time saved to practise the skills required to up your strike rate enjoy Charlie
  17. Thanks Mike As usual your advice is freely offered, amusing to read but sadly useless Made me smile though Cheers
  18. Tight lines Tom It would be good to see the photo's and I think all Sharks are vacent for Club Record purposes. But that would give you the need to weigh the brute before it swims away not an easy task, but I have scales to 110lb if you would like to borrow them. Charlie
  19. Nice one Tom Charlie
  20. Thanks Guys we have tried the gentle heat method and the pull and twist next time we will try the hold 3ft apart and rotate, as that looks to have a good chance. I can not remember knocking the rod but I must have done during the trip. Thanks again Charlie failing that and I will get Gary around, if his strength can not do it with some rubber for grip then it may be staying a one piece
  21. Hi guys Can anyone voice advice as to the best way to get a spigot ferruled rod apart. when I went out the other Saturday one of my uptiders would not come apart at the end of the trip. at the start of the day it was put together as normal, but during the day has become jammed. [maybe it was dusty even in its bag after so many months out of use.] It is a decent rod {Team Diawa] so I do not want to do anything drastic, and Sam and I have applied as much muscle as we can without success. any ideas?? Thanks Charlie
  22. Great news Paul I expect you thought your season was lost, and everything is up and running in less than a fortnight Well Done I hope the new engine gets the boats speed and economy to what you hoped for, I am sure it will. when I re engined my dory many years ago the bigger new engine gave the boat more speed and used less fuel than the old unit that had to run flat out to get the boat on the plane. All done within budget as well, nice one [better than I am doing on that score ] My new engine arrived on Friday , now I have to get it into the garage, ready to fit as soon as the boat is organised and prepared. Does anyone have access to a hyab?? Enjoy the test trips Charlie
  23. everything was normal for a sunny day in Poole Harbour then Mike. Wall to wall with the Birmingham Navy. They scare the S~~~ out of me Lots of money for toys and no idea how to use them properly. Charlie
  24. Nice One Al You tell us mate I think we all miss that point, we spend a huge chunk on boats moorings fuel bait and then finish up at jumble buying cheap gear to fish with. I would rather have a few rods and quality reels than a garage full of cheap deals from ebay etc. That said I still mould my own weights and make up my own traces so saving money where we can is important to me too. but not to minimise the chance of catching some better fish. recent catches prove that you have the system sussed out, and if buying " Proper" floats is what you consider contributes to the success rate then it is good to know that as well. As you say if all you want to do is fish as cheaply as possible, better get a small boat, hoist a sail and use 80 lb mainline [Off ebay] To troll a redgill [Off ebay] around the harbour. Fuel cost 0, losses 0 fish 0 fun 0 Charlie
  25. Kam get you rod out again mate its better than watching that cr++ even if the costumes are so small Charlie
