I was Sad enough having seen the fish man handled onto the quay and to read that it was sold questions the legality of act and the stupidity of putting it in the press. Is the boat licenced to sell its catch? Peerhaps Dave M would like to answer that one after speaking to the skipper I believe it is[sorry WAS] one of the mackeral sharks, so not hard to confuse the echo on that one. There are pot buoys as far out as the rips so that does not really indicate that the capture was that close to shore. When out two weeks ago we saw a good thresher chasing bait fish, she leapt right out of the water 100 ft from the boat, and we were about two miles off the coast Charlie

Thanks for the nice comments guys I am sure Wendy will let me use the galley to feed the crew, but I also sure it better be cleaned after or life will be hell when she checks "her" cooker. I have no date yet, am really trying to get everything I can done to a good standard, rather than rush to get her finished for a set date. I must say this nice weather is not helping, to easily distracted to other family duties, and GRP is hard to work with in this heat, let alone working n a dust suit and mask in this temperature. at last the major parts are starting to come together the 1st of four large boxes arrived yesterday with the Volvo D4 tomorrow should see the other boxes delivered and time to play at the back of the boat for a while. Charlie

Aparently the crew wanted to keep and eat the first shark None of them seemed to amused by my comments, which were delibratly load so they all heard them including the skipper. Steve said that it took over an hour to get to the boat and was floating tail down by the time it did so. An amazing fish, just a shame to see it dead on the quayside surounded by grockles Charlie

I do not think you could DIY a new one They are obtained from engine dealers not usually chandlers I suggest phone around the local ones and spread the net untill you find one If I can help call my mobile and give me engine details I will nip down the lane to select or yellow Penguin for you Charlie

Good luck with the trip I have just spoken to the chap who bought my boat. she is now in Looe Cornwall. He has just had the first shark onboard Great White a 76lb Blue and is very happy. charlie

Adam I am surprised you are struggling so much the big fendering on the new boat is fairly easy to elongate by pulling It may be the friction inside the channel try lubricating the inside of the channel with the washing up liquid and using the heat we are enjoying to keep the rubber flexible, then pull like hell Hope that helps Charlie
