  1. Glad the haggling we discussed on the phone must have gone well She looks a cracker Fred, makes my new one look like a tender. I liked the old boat, and never managed to accept the offer of a trip on her I had better work harder at getting a trip on the new one. She looks like most of the Club could get a trip at the same time. Slves Adams problem of which boat to take to alderney in 2007. Charlie
  2. I hope the weather is kinder this time and you get afloat I will probably be at the Boat show So tight lines all that go Remember we have our Club species comp this SUnday, which is a BFM comp as well and the Club Ray flatty comp on the 17th which is also a BFM comp If we do not get the two bfm comps fished this month then all efforts in that direction have been wasted. So I hope a few anglers can fish and weather will allow the comps to go ahead after 3 cancelled attempts Please remember to book in Charlie
  3. I could probably help with that Paul Charlie
  4. What a great Shame Spike is a mate from when we both had boats in the Southsea fishing Clubs compound at Eastney. He was a top skipper and is a Great Angler. It would be good to help him out if we can Charlie
  5. Nice one keith A good trip out and a good insight into what the western area holds Charlie
  6. Nice one Tony and thanks for the report mate oNly fish so far this month that has been recorded and a very nice one at that Charlie
  7. Nice one James a couple of nice fish amongst many that are not at all bad ether. I have not received a catch report Has everyone now stopped sending them???? Charlie
  8. Hi Sole Man In My experiance [and I manage a boatyard] Painting a boat is usually only done if it is essential as a GRP finish is much harder than a paint one. anf future buyers may ask why a GRP boat has been painted. Slight knocks and scrapes on GRP are easily and quickly sported, where as the same impact on painted finish may result in more painting. If however you want to change the colour then painting following Mikes advice is the way forward. You may find that cutting back and polishing the outside of the hull gets the outside looking good enough not to warrent painting, and as the boat is trailered it can be a progressive job between fishing trips. Enjoy your new boat Charlie
  9. Its really hard to answer I chose the plotter that I liked and then decided on which chart I had the lowrance colour plotter and Navionics gold chart and was happy with both. in fact I now wish that I had not sold them with the old boat, as I will probably pick them again for the new one. The show is a good place to shop as many stands will have running units so you can compare plotter features and chartography within 1 tent Charlie
  10. Well after a wet and windy day working on the boat I have just come online to check the weather and once again the competition day will be met with ever increasing winds. As only two Members have phoned through. I presume that the rest have made their own decisions In the interest of safety I think we have no choice but to postpone this comp again with the competitions already booked for the 17th and trail away on the the 24th. The only option is to try again next Sunday Sept 10th. James your leg is better now can you please stop the wind, enough is enough Charlie
  11. All the best Dom and Nikki I hope you have found your miss right and she does not turn out to be Mrs always right have a great day and tight lines in egypt Charlie
  12. Last trip before return to chalkface.......... I could be a bit depressive !! I hope you were not angling for sympathy with that bait Alun. Those of us that do not get most of the summer off will not be shedding tears for you. seriously though its a bummer when the things you plan at the end of a break get cancelled because of the good old english summer weather. Charlie
  13. Nice one Alun I hope your success continues with the new boat, I will have to check the spelling when the weather settles and your fish reports start Charlie
  14. Because I was at work I did not read the clip before I read the posts on this thread But it still seems very heavy handed of Guernsey to lay claim to limit fish retained on boats within their 12 mile line "wherever they are caught" and stupid to ban returning fish alive "to stop anglers trying and catch bigger fish later". If I was on a trip to the islands and I wanted a table fish, does that mean I am not allowed to return any untill I have killed two???? or have i read it wrong. What about those anglers that return quality breeding size fish [ Rich JAW] and retain a couple of smaller table fish later in the trip. How do the authorities think that will help the fish stocks????????? Charlie
  15. Another interesting thread. It all seems a bit one sided to me. I can see Bob's point that its good to see some restrictions coming in to protect stock but I must agree with Martin and others that it must be a level playing field. If the CI commercials need quota's as tight as these then they must be on a fish per day basis and they must apply to all. the fish per day issue is simple, an overnight stay in the islands would easily be recorded by invoices for accomadation mooring eating ashore etc as evidence I am looking forward to visiting the islands next year on the new boat, but will not be treated as a second class citizen while I am there. I never overload the fish hold on the boat so it is just the principak that matters Charlie
