  1. What 50% of the roll, is that not just capsizing Try a canadian canoe just lean a little and the rest is simple, over she goes. Charlie
  2. Thats a big girl Fred Coming along then, the fish box really shows her dimensions off. I can almost smell the resin from here [ oops better close the front bedroom window] Charlie
  3. Very interestin thread chaps Peter who is the best contact for the sets you mentioned and do you know if they are at the show? Thanks for your advice all, I hope the boys do not get to bored on Sat while Dads in the tent Charlie
  4. The RYA would be very interested all instructng should come under a recognised training center. and those and all equipment are inspected by the RYA annually. Even as the senior instructor at the Yacht Club it is difficult to run private training courses. Charlie

  9. Thanks for posting them Paul, and well Done all the anglers that competed I will post the overal scores very soon. A very big well done for George not only is he leading the Juniors but he carried on breaking personal bests last Sunday. The rest of you dads better get the kids afloat if they want to keep up. I am awaiting the last few reports from Sunday and will send you another list for the Ray/Flatty comp. Charlie
  10. Hi Terry nice to hear you enjoyed the show and got a good deal I hope to go on saturday, and am well keen to have a look at what toys are available. I had Lowrance units on the last boat and was very pleased with them, I hope to fit larger ones on the new one but budget is fast going so may need to consider a combined unit first and add a larger screen plotter later. Charlie
  11. Well done guys keep the reports coming My email does not seem to be connecting to the server at the moment, but I will pick them up at work tomorrow Nice to hear a few PB's being broken and some rays were caught Rich sounds like you had a busy day, but its a new one on me feathering for rays Charlie
  12. Perhaps its time for the Club to invest in some security marking equipment and loan it to Members to mark their kit. or do it after a Club meeting The Yacht Club did this years ago, and even when boats are tampered with clearly marked items of equipment have been left onboard, it appears that kit that has been engraved with the boat name and post code has little "Street Value" A hand engraver , warning stickers and UV pens are not that expensive Just a thought Charlie
  13. Coddy I have added you to the list Charlie
  14. I agree with Martin [As usual mr chairman sir] It sounds like some one is blowing bubbles up your butt mate. The WOT in the handbook should be achievable by changing the prop size and diameter to the correct one for your boat and engine. Some engines in this size range have an option of about 11 differant props, when considering all the diameters and pitches and a couple of specials for racing. This is to allow the same engine to be fitted to a small light speedboat or a larger heavier day boat. I would talk to the people with a simular set up and the engine people. If you are down on revs a bigger pitch will not work unless the diameter is smaller. reading that revs are low and fuel consumpton high. I would say definatly that you need to change the prop. If you have a chance to try a few without purchasing them thats a good option. I once had a Hardy 25 come to Poole from Gosport for servicing and checking of a simular problem. After a service and new prop which had a much smaller pitch, the boat speed was much higher than ever achieved from new [about 30% better], the RPM was correct and on the way home it used 60% of the diesel it used on the way over. The ownner was well please with the cost of the prop, he saved a chunk of the cost just on the trip homes fuel . If you are going to the show, its a good place to talk to the various "experts" best of luck Charlie
  15. Way to go Fred Rub it in My ones bigger than yours, and all that Charlie
  16. Thanks Guys a little better attendance than of late I also have Whistler, Fat Chance on my list Tight lines and let me know how you get on. Charlie
  17. Thanks Tony I now have your score sheets and have booked you in for tomorrow Charlie
  18. Hi Mike Its late so you may not get this in time but the differance between blondes and Spotted are well documented and they are easy once you know what to look for. Most fish ID books would show it. But the advice about the photo's is good Try and take a view from directly above with the ray on a flat surface then email it to me or post on the forum. Tight lines Charlie Kam I once caught a 30lb Blonde and kept it to weigh later [ before anyone moans it was the only one kept out of ten in the day] and when it was cooked it made excelent eating which |I must admit was a surprise. I prefer to keep the odd 10lb fish for the table
  19. Thanks Pete I have it Charlie
  20. Paul I think Kam has a point, many policies insist on a locking system and without evidence that there was one would squirm out of a claim. I am sure they must have damaged a cheap one during their attempted theft But definatly check your small print before claiming We had a theft at work with no evidence of a forced entry and therefore received no payment from our insurers. 3k lost Charlie

    Stuff Fish

You may find something on Google or ebay Kam To late to worry about conservation after they are mounted Rich, But I would also rather display a photo of a fine fish prior to its safe return than some tatty boxed corpse with glass eyes. Charlie
  22. The general info is as usual varied and mostly correct I do not know what the specs are for warrior boats , but whatever they are they are only guidelines. If both boats were identical in fit out and layout you may do a comparison, but with different size and weight of engines crews fittings etc its a hard one. As Martin states the top speed engine RPM is the best indication The boat should be set up as it would be if used ie fully crewed and fueled with as much as you usually carry and all kit on or suitably compensated for, tackle weights flasks spare clothes etc then two high speed runs in opposite directions and note the average top RPM from the 2 trips. Changes of About 200 RPM is achieved from 1" of pitch adjustment, and the total pitch adjustment depends on the type of prop. If you are over propped [RPM lower than stated in the book] you will be straining at all loads and in the long term could damage the engine. Better to be slightly the other way If you carry extra crew occasionally at least the engine will not be straining. It reads like your WOT reading is well low which looks as if the prop needs changing. the amount you are out is beyond a simple re pitch. I would check what other warriors are using or with warrior. out of interest how do the fuel consumption figures compare, ie how much more fuel are you burning for the extra 1.5 knots. [ a lot I expect] I would think that the cost of new prop would soon be recovered from running costs with the correct prop. I hope that helps Charlie [ an ex Outboard maintainer [suzuki]]
  23. 24. Hi all For info the Good Book show the following from the last 5 years every year the flatfish was a plaice The Rays 2005 Blonde 2004 Small eyed 2003 Small eyed 2002 / 2001 not won I hope that helps Charlie
  25. You are correct Kam In our comps , the fish counts if the trace or short leader are touched, I say short leader dilibratly because I do not feel that a fish at the other end of a 25ft leader that spits the hook or fouls the bottom in shallow water could be deemed "Caught" There is no need to heave a fish onboard for it to count. If this were not true we would not be able to t bar large fish in the interest of safety to Fish and crew alike. Charlie
