Nice one Tom Charlie

Thanks Guys we have tried the gentle heat method and the pull and twist next time we will try the hold 3ft apart and rotate, as that looks to have a good chance. I can not remember knocking the rod but I must have done during the trip. Thanks again Charlie failing that and I will get Gary around, if his strength can not do it with some rubber for grip then it may be staying a one piece

Hi guys Can anyone voice advice as to the best way to get a spigot ferruled rod apart. when I went out the other Saturday one of my uptiders would not come apart at the end of the trip. at the start of the day it was put together as normal, but during the day has become jammed. [maybe it was dusty even in its bag after so many months out of use.] It is a decent rod {Team Diawa] so I do not want to do anything drastic, and Sam and I have applied as much muscle as we can without success. any ideas?? Thanks Charlie

Great news Paul I expect you thought your season was lost, and everything is up and running in less than a fortnight Well Done I hope the new engine gets the boats speed and economy to what you hoped for, I am sure it will. when I re engined my dory many years ago the bigger new engine gave the boat more speed and used less fuel than the old unit that had to run flat out to get the boat on the plane. All done within budget as well, nice one [better than I am doing on that score ] My new engine arrived on Friday , now I have to get it into the garage, ready to fit as soon as the boat is organised and prepared. Does anyone have access to a hyab?? Enjoy the test trips Charlie

everything was normal for a sunny day in Poole Harbour then Mike. Wall to wall with the Birmingham Navy. They scare the S~~~ out of me Lots of money for toys and no idea how to use them properly. Charlie

Nice One Al You tell us mate I think we all miss that point, we spend a huge chunk on boats moorings fuel bait and then finish up at jumble buying cheap gear to fish with. I would rather have a few rods and quality reels than a garage full of cheap deals from ebay etc. That said I still mould my own weights and make up my own traces so saving money where we can is important to me too. but not to minimise the chance of catching some better fish. recent catches prove that you have the system sussed out, and if buying " Proper" floats is what you consider contributes to the success rate then it is good to know that as well. As you say if all you want to do is fish as cheaply as possible, better get a small boat, hoist a sail and use 80 lb mainline [Off ebay] To troll a redgill [Off ebay] around the harbour. Fuel cost 0, losses 0 fish 0 fun 0 Charlie

I am surprised that there have not been more jokes after the world cup Charlie

The Club record was a reef fish caught and netted solitair as my mate was heard to say " I am not going near that" as he retired to the sharp end of the boat. His thoughts after I wieghed it in the net and then picked it off the deck [after it got out] so that it could go back are not repeatable here. But the look on his face as a novice angler was great. Great fun Charlie

Hi James When it is my boat again I am sure we will The intention on Sat was to go for the cod, so we stuck with it. Humphrey likes to fish more for table fish than the harder fighting varieties as we do mate. We did have a couple of very slow drifts by a rusty bit and I tried dragging a flapper, but the wreck got the gear before a fish did I am sure we will get the chance to give the congers a go as soon as the boats done. charlie

Nice one Mark well done But please reserve the gaff only for the fish that for some reason are to be kept. with care and practise an eel can be chin gaffed to minimise damage prior to return, but they do not just sit there waiting to be gaffed untill they are well played out. Much better to practise the netting technique for the sake of the fish Charlie

Nice one Alan well done mate Its a shame other people put their own intentions above the need of others but thats life I suppose. We boat people usually look after each other when we can. Glad it turned out OK I would also have been very nervous of transferring the baby and even more so of the two pets. Charlie

accepted a trip with Humphrey today Dan and i joined Humphrey and Neil at 0700 for a trip 20 miles out to have a go at teh Cod. We had decided to join other Club boats for the trip to the cod marks, and try not to be distracted after wreck pollack en route. It was a slow day compared to the recent reports, but after 5 months of boat building it was great to be afloat with the rods again. Neil started the ball rolling with a small cod that went back and swam away very strongly. As the tide increased we were thinking of moving when wallop, a fully bent and nodding uptider and ABU 7000 giving line, reminded me of why I am building an Offshore angling boat. After enjoying playing the best fish I have hooked for ages, a very plump 15lb 7 oz cod was well netted by Dan, for his well pleased Dad. A short while later another of 5Lb 8oz also took a fancy to my rubber twin tail. As I said earlier a slower day than other recent trips, we worked hard for our three cod but I really enjoyed myself. Tom as yu will read elsware I could not keep refusing trips and today left the boat building to go out 20 miles with Humphrey on Ow Much On the way out early this morning I noticed a few strange swirls in the water and just after asking Neil what he thought it might be, a Thresher of about 6ft long came completly out of the water about 50 yards away. It had been chasing the mackeral on the surface, and was a great sight. We stopped the boat but did not see it again. It may be a good sign for your trip mate Charllie

Nice one guys You are really on song now well done again Charlie

Nice one Paul Good advice Finding a good looking lady who finds a day rocking around on a drifting boat smelling rubby dubby romantic must be a winner. have a great day and enjoy the fishing to Charlie
-
Sorry to hear its now dead Paul but nothing in the marine world can live forever. On the up side when you get a replacement it will probably be a newer more efficient unit, the boat will finish up going faster and be more economical. but as you say you have to talk to the missus first time to test the sweet talk mate Charlie

Nice one Gordon Seems to be some great fish about Nice that it went back OK Charlie

Hi Rich While I enjoy recording the fish and its good to hear that so many good ones are being landed. I am looking forward to joining the fun again. I have been doing exactly that in the wheelhouse mate, I am sure the neighbours enjoy me working on the boat late to escape the heat. Thats it Duncan take the P~~~ out of poor old me Charlie

They have been worked out and sent to the BFM but not posted I will have them with me at the meeting. working late on teh boat is slowing me up a bit this year, sorry lads Charlie
