The last one is the best. I am sure we all know some one that fits into this description. Charlie The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners: 1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with. 2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly. 3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future. 4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid. 5. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period. 6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high. 7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it. 8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late. 9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness. 10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.) 11. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer. 12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you. 13. Glibido: All talk and no action. 14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly. 15. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web. 16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out. 17. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating. And the pick of the literature: 18. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole

We may be out at the weekend but I am working on Sat morning. The reports from Alderney are taking the edge off of scratching a bit. so it may be tope or bust. Tony if your wiper is out of action get hold of some rainex from halfords, if you follow the instructions its almost as good as using wipers, and will get you afloat Tight lines all Charlie

Duncan if my boat was faster I would be up for it I have tried to suggest it to Gary, but no luck so far Humphrey may be up for it, I will plant the idea and see what happens. Charlie Great days catch guys Not that sad to be at work instead

Hi all It effects all boats and is usually due to a combination of all of the things already mentioned. Even big powerboats have this effect and that is why most have trim tabs. Going across a tide in a wind over tide situation makes it worse Hull pushed one way by tide and topsides the other by the wind. Without trim tabs just redistribution of the weight/persons onboard will be fine. Glad your Dad enjoyed the Bream, wait untill a Smoothound or Tope takes off The naming of the boat is a very personal thing, but try and avoid tongue twisters that will be awkward on the VHF. Hope to see you afloat soon. Very tight lines Charlie

Hi Mike always sad to see them go but at least a shiny new replacement is on order. If your health allows and the frustration gets to much do not forget my offer of an evening trip. Charlie

Hi John The summer season seems to have started with marks in the Bay producing Bream Wrasse Pollack Garfish and Mackeral, so no need really to steam to kimmeridge. The groundbait on the anchor warp can not hurt unless the wind is holding you out of the scent trail. on the rocky bream marks that may even get Conger and Tope to pick up your baits. We tried a small wreck on Sunday without any sign of either of these species, but they are out there waiting. Very tight lines Charlie

Can not see that working here It would probably be me at church Charlie

Sounds like you had a good day we scratched out a few fish in the fog but no bream on friday Sam's mate had his first smoothound and several other fish so a good evening inshore Charlie
-
Hi Gordon Sounds like you had a busy Day We had a family day, with a good smattering of the smaller species including several small pollack 3 bream to about 1 1/2 lb plenty of Wrasse too many dogfish and the first few mackeral of the year. we tried a small wreck but apart from pout and a few more dogs no joy. More Bacon butties [so as mike said It had to be a good day.] and a nice days weather so a great fishing day even if no monsters were caught The Tope should arrive soon now that the mackeral are in Charlie

Thanks pete No panic, I was thinking of replacing one of my spinning reels and the small baitrunner would be ideal size. Let me know when you have it and we can make suitable arrangements Charlie
-
Hi Pete I am interested in the other baitrunner if you still have it. I have left a message on your phone Cheers Charlie

Nice one I went out after work with Sam and 1 of his mates we had pout wrasse pollack and a small smut, but it was quiet in the mist. Charlie

Beer Revealed as Historic Female Plot Yesterday, scientists suggested that, considering the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer, men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. > The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoeostrogens) and drinking it makes men turn into women. To test the theory, 50 men were fed 6 pints of beer each within a one hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the men: talked excessively without making sense; became overly emotional; couldn't drive; failed to think rationally; argued over nothing; had to sit down while urinating; and refused to apologize when obviously wrong. No further testing was considered necessary. Charlie

Mike Have you noticed since your return, that you are not the only mad one ? Charlie

Hi Simon and welcome The inshore waters just inside the solent sounds a good bet A rising tide at the end of a hot day, try stingray fishing with big worm baits. then let us all know how fast a kayak can be towed by a fish My experiance of canoe fishing were a little damp and cold. But that was a canadian canoe spinning for trout. sitting back to back seemed to be a good idea, and made casting easier, untill we both leaned the same way and SPLASH. Charlie

Hi Dave Can you spare a few of those bags? I would like to try them out by filling them and then freezing them inside a plastic bag for handling purposes. the fine mesh may slow the wash out down, and just add another when the trail starts to fade away, In My experiance the problem with using bags deep in the water in summer is tope tear the bags to bits, I used to use a protector of chicken wire but am considering using a length of plastic downpipe. I need some stoppers for the ends, I wonder if the Pringle tube ones will fit? If not has anyone any cunning ideas of where to get stoppers from for say 2 1/2"or 3" pipe Easy to get for 4" pipe but I think that size will catch the tide to much Cheers charlie

Nice one Thank god for broadband Charlie

Sam you ought to wait for an answer before you fire the next question son I am not sure about keeping another boat here, GW causes enough moans Its probably only a year or so before the GW will be available to you so no need to be to keen to get you own. just be keen to learn all you can while you wait. Charlie

Hi Trevor As Sam said we used it yesterday when in close to try and get the Bream feeding and rapidly had six fish. I am sure we would have had a few more if the potter had not come along. see other post The scent trail was very good and clearly visable behind the boat for a good distance. we were using onion sack over the side but it rapidly became washed out. Have others tried it yet have a solution to that or have a source of finer mesh bags I would like an update Nice one Trevor, saved a bad day Charlie

Had a very slow day we caught a few bream in close, then a potter had a complete sense of humour failure about us holding onto his buff. it took seconds to release it and drift off, with him screaming that we should be at anchor. As we were using 1/2 oz weights we were not moving his gear, but it was his gear so we have to respect that. However if I had been at Anchor, I run the risk of fouling his gear on recovery [Which stands much more chance of tangling it up], and takes ages in comparison to just dropping his buff and drifting/motoring off. Perhaps all of his pots were being used Yesterday by the vast fleet of boats out there and he was just having a bad day. Charlie

Hi Mke What a nice looking boat, shame about the skipper Just call it Mad1 and everyone will remember who's it is. Great to have you back, I bet you can not wait for the boat to arrive. Charlie
-
Hi I would also check the fuel lead and its connectors. If you can borrow a spare it is an easy first check, and check the fuel tank vent is open Charlie

I wanted to call my boat "Shy Torque" when I built her but the boss would not let that happen. Peter had simular with "Shy Talk" We had one at the Club called "Bone Idol" and another owned by the proprietor of several shoe shops which is called "Cobblers" There was one at Lake Yard called P.O.E.T S p*** off early tomorrows Saturday Charlie
-
If you want to have a go at the proper casting Sam You had better ask Gary to teach you. he is the one with 200 yard + casting badges If I want to fish that far away I move the boat Charlie

Hi steve I am off at half term so may be able to come across to fish the old grounds if you have space/time off It would be great to get amongst the hounds at selsey again Perhaps we can arrange it nearer the time Charlie
