  1. Hi all I have just had a conversation with Peter our Safety Officer ref the weather Forcast for Sunday. All signs are for a lot of wind, increasing locally under showers. We heve therefore decided to postpone the Bream comp that was booked for Sunday 22nd May It will be moved to the 5th June, to again coincide with the Poole Angling centre Bream comp for those that are entering both. We have made an early decision to assist those that are ordering bait. Please note that the calender will now be full Burnham comp 29th May Sams Charter trip to Langstone 3rd June Bream comp 5th June 48 Hr Comp 10th to 12th June I had better spend this weekend working on the bathroom Regards Charlie

  5. Adam/James/Matt/Simon can you email me the pictures of your Tope/Pollack I would like to send a report to the Papers/Mags/Poole angling centre. Cod, Pollack, Tope and Tom's big Wrasse should be of interest Cheers Charlie
  6. It was nice to see three on the boat, even if mine was the small one. especially on a nice day in the sun. worrying about putting sun cream on is not how I remember Cod fishing Charlie

  8. Neils fish
  9. Hi all On Monday recieved a late invite to join Humphrey fishing the RIPs on Ow Much yesterday. A couple of phone calls to work saw me with the day off and awaiting the crew at 0730 on the dock. We set off for the RIPs in company with Fair Lady a stop 6 miles out saw plenty of mackeral including some small joeys, the bait tank was rapidly rigged and a few fish added for use on the drift. the first wreck was too quiet, so we had a short move. the second was much better, Neil had a pollack of 9lb 2oz on a live Joey Mackeral, I then had a small pollack on a redgill, followed by my first Cod in a couple of years [5lb 6oz] on the redgill. The tide then eased away and catching stopped. we even anchored for an hour with tope baits without success. for the last hour or so, we went back on the drift Neil was rapidly back into a decent fish on a Tiger Shad, a lovely Cod came up through the deep clear water, this fish weighed in at 23lb 6oz Humphrey then had another good fish on his large pirk, that fought well to mid water before shaking the hook. He was not happy!!!!!!! While he was still groaning about the one that got away he hooked another, this one came to the net and was weighed at 18lb. We had not caught a hge number of fish but the quality made up for the lack of quantity. we knew that the drift fishing may be slow on such a small tide. It was nice to be out in the deep water on a day when the improving weather forecasted was what we actually got, Thanks for the trip H Charlie
  10. Hi all Bob you are welcome on the boat, it must be about time we had another go one evening. But I thought you were interested in the Mapcreate to use the PC to edit info on teh card, which needs a visit to home. If your system works better than mine Coddy I would be interested in having a look, and as we are still almost neighbours perhaps we can combine both for Bob at some time. You are right Duncan, initally putting info on the cards is done at the PC, but my marks tend to be things seen afloat and entered as waypoints or events, not numberers gleaned from other sources. A numerick pad is good for entering info, but not as easy as creating a waypoint from the boats current position. Charlie
  11. Hello and Welcome Do join in with the friendly banter, we are not all mad. but some are madder than others Charlie
  12. At one stage that yellow tub was so close to adam you could have chucked a weight into the thing, no need for casting. As adam said elsware the skipper did not even say anything to Adam or I You can see his shot buoy in the photo, why he wanted to steam so far in front of it only he knows, perhaps he could smell adams Bacon. Charlie
  13. Adam I am not sure what speed you should be expecting the anode to errode at. But it is a good sign that they are pitting. When they reach about 50% they will need to be changed, so that they continue to protect the other metal parts and cancel out the prop effect. But on a trailered boat its not to crucial, as you can keep an eye on it after every trip. charlie

  15. hi Jack We heard you several times but as you were at ballard and we were at St Albans all attempts at conversation were not succesfull. we tried but did not think you heard us that well. our day was not too good but in the end the weather eased. we will try again next time charlie
  16. Hi It was nice to be out yesterday and see so many Club boats on the water. the forecast was a little kinder than the sea state but I still enjoyed the day. Nice to have you aboard Paul, we will try again when more tope are around. I am not sure why with so much bait in the water the Tope decided not to play, but it was not for the lack of trying. We had Dogs,Pout , Ma I am sure that the Sky would have given up many more Eels if the Dive boat had not turned up, I was expecting one or two but thought we had at least another hours fishing before they arrived. As to the Skippers manouevering so close to BW there was no need to get anywhere near as close and I will not repeat my thoughts on the skipper as this is a puplic forum. Tight lines to those going out this week Charlie
  17. Hi I agree with Adam. Our comps are run so that all fish can be treated as catch and release, and at this stage of the season all the bream caught on GW have been returned. We have not caught many. However we will probably take a few for the table at some point, and if we decide to fish the other comp next Sunday it may be then, we will not be taking home a bucket full. Its down to the Anglers Choice, but Rich has a good point about the breeding season, please return all the fish that you can to ensure sport in the future. Charlie
  18. Nice one Or should that be ones Charlie
  19. Thanks Martin saved my typing finger Charlie
  20. Hi Bob I have a Lowrance poltter that uses Navionics gold and am very pleased with it In fact the prices have come down on my model [5000c] since I bought it and there is a new smaller cheaper model available. I can use the PC to load and save from the user card using the mapcreate 6 software that came with the plotter, but there is no detail on the background map. It would be nice to be able to load the detail from navionics into it but it does not accept that. I emailed Lowrance who have no intention of improving the detail on maps this side of the pond. In USA the details on mapcreate are very good, over here no detail just sea and land. It does however mean that info on the card can be backed up on my PC, and its easy to sit in the study adding waypoints, marks etc if and when new ones become available. Then just pop the card back in and motor out to look for the new mark. If you want to have a look you are welcome to pop over CU afloat tomorrow, tight lines Charlie
  21. Nice one Dan Rich Sam and I will be up for that if we can sort it. I can supply the scotch Charlie
  22. James The forecast is much better for Mon and Tue so I expect that you will get there if we do not. Adam, Mark, Jack we hope to get out on Sunday at about 0800 and go west give me a shout to compare notes Tight lines Charlie
  23. Mark Nice one mate well done. I have three TLD's so if you want it checked over internally just pop it over here and I will check it for you. I have the three bigger ones 15.20 and 25, but they are very simular inside I would get some line on it damn quick and see if its your lucky reel. Lovely reel for braid and deep water drifting. set the drag on the stop, then its instant to back it off with the lever to give line, and back to the set tension every time. Charlie
  24. I have just looked at all the weather sites I use allthough the wind is up on Friday the strongest I see is 24knots which is 6 maybe 7 can not see anything at this time that looks to reach 50 to 55 knots [Force 11] most sites have the wind easing at the weekend now, so lets hope that they are right Charlie
  25. sounds like you have cracked the setup Paul well done. Isnt the tacho just an electronic instrument, can the wires not be extended with a good quality wire with good conductivity? can the resistance of a couple of feet make that much differance. most Tacho's that I have fitted are fed from a cable [on the loom] coming out of the control box which is allready some way from the engine. I know with your background that you would have thought of that, just not sure why you can not mount it on the console in easy viewing. Charlie
