  1. Sorry about ther echo
  2. Well I hope you all apreciate the fact that I am working on Sunday. As usual when I work on a Bank Holiday at the Yacht Club, the wind drops so that sailing is delayed and my day is long. But worse than that I have to spend hours listening to sailors moaning about calm conditions and watching fishing boats heading in and out of the Harbour. I still wish you all Tight Lines and will see you at the slipway and at the weigh in. I hope all our Members and visitors have a good day. I will be at work so if anyone has a problem, that needs assistance from ashore during the day. please give me a call on my mobile 07887 794716. The club is close to the slipway and fully dredged so access is good all day Tight lines Charlie
  3. Out of interest The east Looe channel has just been surveyed and they are about to remark the channel as the sandbank towards the East buoy has moved inshore . The channel will go to the first red then about due east, taking you outside the above sandbank. I have a photo copy of the survey and will bring it to the next meeting [Memory permitting] The col regs lay down the rules for stand on and give way vessels, but I do not remember what the rules is about low flying ones. having watched the kite surfers at evening hill and heard some horror stories about what happens when a gust comes and they are airbourne [ Landed on road 2 broken legs, lost grip kite now wrapped around floor 5 of a highrise building] I would try and avoid them completly. I am sure a board in the head would ruin your days fishing. Charlie
  4. Not sure of the address, but it was in Scratchface Lane bedhampton, which is behind the hypermarket. just around the corner from my old bungelow in Pinewood avenue if that helps paul. I am sure it will be in local Yellow pages as a boat builder Charlie
  5. I had a Flyer for some years and It was a good boat I modified the cabin to change it to a cuddy, that increased the usable space while fishing and made it a much better fishing boat. The boat I had was made with a heavy layup, which made it stable at rest but it still went well with 60hp outboard. Slamming was a problem and when the sea got up slowing down to less than planning speed saw a big increase in fuel consumption. they are made in Scratchface lane bedhampton. I was talking to a Member yeaterday who is thinking of selling one, but I will leave him to post as and when he reads this. Charlie
  6. Duncans about right 20 to 22 miles from the entrance. Mark its only about 5 miles further than where you were last Sunday, its just straight past Swanage and out instead of around the corner to the west. add about 25% to the fuel you used last week for a rough estimate. It is within range of your boat, If mine were faster I would go there more That said please remember to check the weather carefully, your fuel consumption will leap up if you can not maintain planning speed, and wind over tide on the RIPs can cause some overfalls and lumpy seas. It is a long way from any shelter out there, we could just see the isle of wight and the purbecks on a day with very good vis. We did not get masses of fish but what we did get were worth catching. Charlie
  7. What about the caravan park at merley Charlie
  8. Hi all I have just had a conversation with Peter our Safety Officer ref the weather Forcast for Sunday. All signs are for a lot of wind, increasing locally under showers. We heve therefore decided to postpone the Bream comp that was booked for Sunday 22nd May It will be moved to the 5th June, to again coincide with the Poole Angling centre Bream comp for those that are entering both. We have made an early decision to assist those that are ordering bait. Please note that the calender will now be full Burnham comp 29th May Sams Charter trip to Langstone 3rd June Bream comp 5th June 48 Hr Comp 10th to 12th June I had better spend this weekend working on the bathroom Regards Charlie

  13. It was nice to see three on the boat, even if mine was the small one. especially on a nice day in the sun. worrying about putting sun cream on is not how I remember Cod fishing Charlie
  14. Humphreys fish
  15. Neils fish
  16. Hi all On Monday recieved a late invite to join Humphrey fishing the RIPs on Ow Much yesterday. A couple of phone calls to work saw me with the day off and awaiting the crew at 0730 on the dock. We set off for the RIPs in company with Fair Lady a stop 6 miles out saw plenty of mackeral including some small joeys, the bait tank was rapidly rigged and a few fish added for use on the drift. the first wreck was too quiet, so we had a short move. the second was much better, Neil had a pollack of 9lb 2oz on a live Joey Mackeral, I then had a small pollack on a redgill, followed by my first Cod in a couple of years [5lb 6oz] on the redgill. The tide then eased away and catching stopped. we even anchored for an hour with tope baits without success. for the last hour or so, we went back on the drift Neil was rapidly back into a decent fish on a Tiger Shad, a lovely Cod came up through the deep clear water, this fish weighed in at 23lb 6oz Humphrey then had another good fish on his large pirk, that fought well to mid water before shaking the hook. He was not happy!!!!!!! While he was still groaning about the one that got away he hooked another, this one came to the net and was weighed at 18lb. We had not caught a hge number of fish but the quality made up for the lack of quantity. we knew that the drift fishing may be slow on such a small tide. It was nice to be out in the deep water on a day when the improving weather forecasted was what we actually got, Thanks for the trip H Charlie
  17. Hi all Bob you are welcome on the boat, it must be about time we had another go one evening. But I thought you were interested in the Mapcreate to use the PC to edit info on teh card, which needs a visit to home. If your system works better than mine Coddy I would be interested in having a look, and as we are still almost neighbours perhaps we can combine both for Bob at some time. You are right Duncan, initally putting info on the cards is done at the PC, but my marks tend to be things seen afloat and entered as waypoints or events, not numberers gleaned from other sources. A numerick pad is good for entering info, but not as easy as creating a waypoint from the boats current position. Charlie
  18. Hello and Welcome Do join in with the friendly banter, we are not all mad. but some are madder than others Charlie
  19. At one stage that yellow tub was so close to adam you could have chucked a weight into the thing, no need for casting. As adam said elsware the skipper did not even say anything to Adam or I You can see his shot buoy in the photo, why he wanted to steam so far in front of it only he knows, perhaps he could smell adams Bacon. Charlie
  20. Adam I am not sure what speed you should be expecting the anode to errode at. But it is a good sign that they are pitting. When they reach about 50% they will need to be changed, so that they continue to protect the other metal parts and cancel out the prop effect. But on a trailered boat its not to crucial, as you can keep an eye on it after every trip. charlie

  22. hi Jack We heard you several times but as you were at ballard and we were at St Albans all attempts at conversation were not succesfull. we tried but did not think you heard us that well. our day was not too good but in the end the weather eased. we will try again next time charlie
  23. Hi It was nice to be out yesterday and see so many Club boats on the water. the forecast was a little kinder than the sea state but I still enjoyed the day. Nice to have you aboard Paul, we will try again when more tope are around. I am not sure why with so much bait in the water the Tope decided not to play, but it was not for the lack of trying. We had Dogs,Pout , Ma I am sure that the Sky would have given up many more Eels if the Dive boat had not turned up, I was expecting one or two but thought we had at least another hours fishing before they arrived. As to the Skippers manouevering so close to BW there was no need to get anywhere near as close and I will not repeat my thoughts on the skipper as this is a puplic forum. Tight lines to those going out this week Charlie
  24. Hi I agree with Adam. Our comps are run so that all fish can be treated as catch and release, and at this stage of the season all the bream caught on GW have been returned. We have not caught many. However we will probably take a few for the table at some point, and if we decide to fish the other comp next Sunday it may be then, we will not be taking home a bucket full. Its down to the Anglers Choice, but Rich has a good point about the breeding season, please return all the fish that you can to ensure sport in the future. Charlie
  25. Nice one Or should that be ones Charlie
