Looks like you made good use of your day Jim. You are right the weather was kind out there today,. Had a busy day Started out in 100 ft, and before long the dreaded doggies were nicking the baits. Then rays took over. Small eyed rays up to 6lb 6oz, then a few blondes. The tide got up quite a lot, and sods law the biggest one got tail wrapped and was really hard to pull against it. I had the leader but could not get it to go in my net. Just out of reach it spat the hook. It counts but would have been worth weighing. At least 12lb or more. Not willing to do that again I moved inshore and picked a new spot to try. I put the kettle on to cheer me up after having to leave feeding fish. Blow me before I had a cuppa I had another small eyed, and while the tide was ebbing several more up to 8lb 6oz. I had a first ever for me, two rays on a two hook trace. Last one of the day just before a 4 o'clock finish, was the only undulate today at 8lb 7oz So sorry that you missed out Jim, I hope that you get over it very soon.

After a few trips after the elusive BFT, I feel the need to try something different. The forecast for Friday looks good, so I will go out somewhere to put the anchor down for a change, possibly around the 50/50 area. If anyone fancies joining me please get in touch via here or on my mobile. Regards Charlie

Thanks Alan, I was going to post that having checked that they are happy for me to put it on here, which they are -
Sadly not by us. That is where Alfresco was yesterday, complete with all of Dave's tuna kit and our new outriggers. Post and pictures soon.

Well done guys, like Steve I have not done an all nighter in years. Mainly due to my crew not being up for it. Lol But your success may get me to give it a another go

MMO Bream and Wrasse Survety

Done Not convinced it will do any more good than the current MCZ's. with no restrictions of any kind. Or any commercial size limits. IMHO they are a total waste of effort. [And yes I did add that to my feedback] We are left to our own voluntary measures. Ie Number of fish retained, being a low percentage of catch. The way we treat and handle the fish, this is very good. Non targeting of pregnant females. Although the current restrictions on Bass fishing have taken a while to get used too, most of us can recognise that they are having a good impact on our catch rates. -
Thanks Neil If I was going Charter fishing I would definitely be going West. Steve Porter has already topped 100 to his boat in just 16 trips this season. Dave and I are trying hard to catch our own on Alfresco, in an area with so far, very few fish.

Hi Neil Good to read you are about again. Sounds like a good trip nearer to home. Sorry to hear that your BFT trips did not work out, maybe you ought to try again, the charters are doing really well down West. So far we have tried three times and all blanks. Regards Charlie

Great write up Chris, looks like you all had fun [Maybe not Tim] Don't you love it when a plan comes together. Well done on a full string of keepers. -
Nice to be able to help you out with the tides mate. Lol Even better to see you out there having fun in the sunshine, Thanks for the call to come over, but without the fresh bait we did not share your success with the tope. Sorry to hear about J2's rod The pictures came over through WhatsApp I will add them below Nice Bass And the Tope look like great sport I am not sure who had hold of who here Best regards Charlie

Great write up Mal. Good to see that there are fish about, we had a quieter time. But still enjoyable

Nice one Rob well done.

We had a very long Day Towed a full spread of lures up and down the waves, all the way from Durlston to the west end of the shambles, then an alternative route back to the spoils. Nil fish to report Although a pack of Dolphins breaking surface did get us excited for a bit.

Alfresco will be out with Dave and Mick crewing

We discussed this a bit at the August Club meeting. This is some of the information that was passed to me, when I was lucky enough to be one of the 91 successful applicants for a licence/permit. I am so pleased that they have now made the information available. Including the code of practice. If anyone is interested in this fishery, I would suggest having a good look at that. I have printed it all out and have hard copies onboard. Its a big commitment in time and effort for all concerned. A lot of people deserve credit for getting it this far, very well done to all of them. Lets hope for a good season, with lots more people getting to try this out and a very small mortality rate. That way it will expand in the future. Charlie
