Bugger, It looked hopeful a week ago, but with the high slipping North and winds in the channel the weather window is now firmly closed. I think we have all agreed to try one more time in June.

Here we go again Checking the weather forecasts at every opportunity
-
Well done Steve Look forward to a report maybe something on the you tube page

Thanks for taking the advice as it was meant Neil. I use a sack or net. After struggling with a selfie when solo a few years ago. I now carry a tripod and phone holder. Tripod has flexi legs that can grip any rail If really struggling i take a video. Then take a still from the video

Nice Neil But that is not a good way to land or weigh any of the shark species. We use a sack or net to support their body weight.

Dave's crew made the most of the weather that we had at the weekend, they managed to fish through the wind inshore on Friday, but it was a bit tough. I joined them on Saturday. The wind was a bit fresh to say the least in the morning and the fish were hard to find when the wind dropped by lunchtime. But it was good to be out again. Two days of tough fishing did not put us off, an early gathering on Sunday and off we went to try some wrecking. The visibility was poor but the sea state and the fishing were great. Many miles covered and a lot of wrecks fished, but it was like old times, plenty of fish report and pictures to follow. Good company, nice weather and good fishing, who could ask for more

Thanks Jerry Sunday may go wrecking. Reserve date 26th to 29th May

Bouncing this one back up, for our friends that have been before and cannot join us this year. or other Members that have not been able to go yet. Basically we had it all lined up and started the usual round of; Weather watching, prepping boats and kit, weather watching, organising food, weather watching etc etc you get the Idea. Lol On the decision day the forecast looked reasonable and settled, so it was decided to go, I contacted the accommodation and paid our deposit. 24 hours later, bugger it has all changed. back to a cycle of weather watching and phone calls or messages. Then phone hotel to see what options we have. Another 12 hrs and its too windy, bummer. We need plan B. This years accommodation will be the La Ville hotel, and to be honest they have been great, started off by offering us a good rate, backed up by good flexibility. Even though we are beyond the cut off time and date they have agreed to allow us to transfer the booking and deposit to the end of May bank holiday. Thanks Roger. and thanks Wendy for bending some of our plans so I can go on the next dates, which clash with Sam's birthday. If weather allows I will still be out with the lads on Reel Magic this weekend. But not at 0500 tomorrow. Watch the catch reports. Charlie

Sorry Jim missed the bit where you say Jackie cannot use binoculars, but that may be because like wendy she cannot close up a large pair far enough for her size. A compact set may be much better.
-
Hi Jim I wanted a pair that matches your requirements too [IE light and fairly small] I also needed them to be OK for me or Wendy to use. As covered above there is a lot of choice, which mainly comes down to what they are being used for and budget. If Jackie finds it hard to hold them still avoid any higher magnification than 8X, unless you can budget for stabilised ones. I took my Hawk 8 x 50 home from the boat for Wendy to try, and she found them to large and heavy, simply they physically did not narrow down enough for her to look through them comfortably. Maybe the 8 x 42 would have been OK, and I did look at the ones Graham bought, which were great for me. As said I bought the 8 x 32 compact Vortex Diamond back ones, we are both happy with them Hope that helps
-
I am sure you will be happy with them Graham. Bird watching from the boat it is probably a good idea to limit magnification.
-
Thanks Chris Perhaps we can arrange that at some time. Possibly after a breakfast at the friendly café next door.
