  1. Thanks Paul If they have fishing marks on them please pass them around Lol I have been to Guernsey many times, circumnavigating the island whilst navigational training you get to see some areas where the boats gather in groups that put the cod car park to shame. Has anyone in the Club any information about these areas?
  2. get all of the population to jump at the same time perhaps the earth will spin a bit on it axis and get us in the correct position for warm and Calm weather
  3. And the new one arrived in the Rain earlier today Looking good guys Charlie
  4. Hi Paul I think that the majority are now looking at Guernsey with a possible fall back to Alderney for the last night. But you may need to discuss that with the lads from Redfin to see what they are planning. General discussion seems to be, going Friday 23rd Back Mon 26th Probably even more weather dependant Can somebody put the jetstream back where it should be please Charlie
  5. Looking great Paul Is there a link to the competition and social dates for the year? Charlie
  6. Guernsey sounds a good idea ref the accomadation and the fuel prices are inviting, But I have just plotted the tides into an atlas A lot of the time we will be running against the tides, which for this trip will be slightly larger than they would have been on the first weekend. Friday Ebb down through the race ends at 1309 Then tide pushes north for 6 hrs ( towards Alderney) Sat Flood tide ( towards schole) ends at 0720 Then tide changes to run south until just before 1500 After that a run to St PP would be pushing tide Sun Add just under an hour to the above. (If boats fancy spending the last night at Alderney we would get a push north after 1600) Monday From St PP Tide going north via Alderney race or caskets (shortest route) changes against us at 0910 So an early start would be required. Or more time on the bank before a long push home. From Alderney 0800 nip to speedy, for a try at the tope while waiting for our friends from Guernsey. We are probably going with just three crew so that we can all sleep onboard. This would give us the flexibility that we may need to use both Islands for a change. I have not run that past the crew yet, as I am waiting to see which days they can do. If the weather is good Fri I would think that a nice early start from Poole Fish a few wrecks before aim for the schole by 1300, a few hours on the banks then in to St Pp for fuel, food and beers Sat Slack tide out to the bank If the schole slow, may even try the banks down at the end of the little Russel by Sark in the afternoon Beer and food ashore Sun More fuel if required To schole/caskets/south banks Slack at speedy, then Braye Mon Speedy 0800 while we wait for boats that needed to stay in Guernsey Wreck hop the channel What do you think guys??? Keen to hear what others think, of course all of that needs a nice sea state Charlie
  7. You are being very patient mate I hope that she is back out there very soon
  8. Pete we use 12mm nylon to get a full coil in the locker. Never had a problem with the strength of the rope Nearly said never had a problem, then I remembered a four hour tow (thanks Dave) after getting the rope around the props Charlie
  9. Looks like Redfin is coming Paul and there may be spare crew as some of the boats can not make the spare dates and unfortunately some may not make the trip at all Hope that you can make it
  10. For some reason I can not copy and paste today Please add Alfresco to the list, Charlie Will Dan , Unfortunatley no Sam I have spoken to Mark @AA and informed him, That we will not be with him this weekend They do not have any accomadation for the May bank holiday or the 1st weekend in June. So we will probably just take the three of us and sleep on the boat. The good news is that my boss is Happy to cover my jobs so I get the weekend pass, well from work anyway. I had better finish the garden this weekend to get the real boss onside. Over to you Dave, 2 weeks to get the shiney new toy to Poole and Adam regarding TBC Here we go again All crossed for weather
  11. Itis a very small window, that may I prove or go But that sounds good tomo
  12. Likewise but I may keep monday floating as a one day option, as all of the crew are available and its about time we fished a wreck this year May need a buddy boat if anyone has a similar plan. Could be a shake down Adam Bloody weather, it looked on a couple of days ago.
  13. If I can clear the Monday off and the weather is right, we may opt to motor over after work on Friday, to set us up for fishing Sat, Sun on the banks then wrecking on the way home. Anyone else considering that option?
  14. The boys and I need to check work commitments, and see what can be changed around. When are you thinking of going guys, as if I manage to get the boys along, we may struggle to get more time than the three day weekend I am supposed to be working the Monday afternoon, but may see if I can sort that out. Charlie
  15. Are we going to hold tonights meeting??
  16. Forget next weekend, and all thevweather checking to go over the channel, who is going out this week end? I have a few jobs to finish tomorrow and then hope to get out with Dan Chrissie and Will on Sunday.
  17. We will have some beers for you Adam, and try to get amongst the fish Shame not to be sharing another early departure from Poole with JV Charlie
  18. Hi Ian In last months BFM there was an article on small and very cheap rods [£20.00) that are bright pink they were catching very big smoothies on them so they are a bit tough These may suit you for your girls Charlie
  19. Do not have the budget or enough holiday to make that possible Adam If I did then we would I am told there is more to life than fishing, no problem guessing who by
  20. Welcome to the Club I hope that you get as much out of it as my family and I do
  21. Well done whoever it was that called this in, and the lads in the RNLI The thing with dinghy sailors is they try so hard to right the boat themselves that they can get totally knackered and hypothermia starts to set in. Common sense starts to fade and self help becomes even harder, they probably never thought of walking the boat to the shore
  22. Happy birthday Dave I hope that you had a great day and good meal Thanks for all the messages guys, I had a great birthday and a really nice time with the boys at last nights meeting. The beer and banter were flowing freely
  23. See you neext month, LOL
  24. That is why we considered a move to new Zealand after our holiday there many years ago.
  25. As usual the forecast changes a lot from one site to another. we are on the borderline again, so I think I may start to think what I can do this weekend, rather than throw all my time and effort into preps for Alderney. that said I bet tonight is not going to be an Alderney free zone
