  1. Hi Peter Glad to see you on the list mate I think all of AA accomadation will be needed by Mine and Daves crews, but that is subject to who finishes up coming with me. Charlie
  2. Thanks guys Martin can you pin this thread please
  3. Very best of luck with all of your plans for 2014. I spoke with Mark Harding earlier, he is about to start training for his trip across the Channel Looking forward to all of your updates. Charlie
  4. Well as I am at home with a bad back, the festivities season is over and a New Year has begun. It seems to be the right time to open the 2014 tide book and have a look at dates for our annual trip to visit the lovely Island of Alderney. Tides seem to indicate that the first weekend in May is not ideal, even though using the bank holiday may have appealed to some. Weekend 9, 10, 11, 12 look to be a very interesting, small tides. Weekend 16, 17, 18 again the spring tides, may not make that an ideal choice Weekend 23, 24, 25, 26 the tides are again about right, it incorperates a bank holiday Monday, which may give me a problem at work, but in the overall picture would probably be a good fallback date. As we all know this trip is definately weather dependant, those of us who made the trip in 2011 would remember that we were a little too keen. While the trip was safe enough, fishing was limited by the weather. The 2013 trip was delayed, less boats made the rearranged dates than originally intended to go. But the better weather enhanced the enjoyment for those of us that could go. I therefore propose that we look at going over on the weekend of 9, 10, 11, 12 May 2014. At this very early stage I have no idea about how many boats are thinking of going this year, or even my crew availability, accomadation etc I have just called Mark and booked all 6 beds at Alderney Angling for three nights from the 9th, who knows I may even stay ashore myself this year, I must be getting older LOL. But lets start the ball rolling and see where we go from here. 2nd Weekend in May 1. Alfresco, Charlie plus crew tbc
  5. Perhaps he was working with logic from being in touch with his female side. IE Do a crap job the first time, so that you are not allowed to ever do it again. Worked for Wendy and painting radiators, LOL
  6. Brilliant post Dave thanks for the reminders Charlie
  7. Now added it to my tablet It looks terrific but while the cursor shows wher I am how do I get a lat long to show. Quite a lot of things on there are very basic compared to Navionics on my PC in the office and Navionics gold on my plotter. Terry how do you enter your waypoints mate? I have to go to the London boat show next week so no doubt I will quiz the Navionics experts when I am there. I will also ask them if now that I have purchased it for my tablet can I load it to my phone. (Both samsung S3) Still its something to play with in this weather HAPPY NEW YEAR Charlie

  12. Hi Nige You know my thoughts on this mate from texts and facebook, and the offer of help from the boys and I is open ended. I take my hat off to you for going out with Dave yesterday and taking your feelings out on the dogfish away from Sandy and your family. Pretty sure that expecting an electrical item to work after a salvage is a bit wishful, I would not blame the pump mate. Call you later Charlie
  13. Thanks for the report Adam Not sure any of us will be fishing on our boats again this year mate, is it inappropriate to mention a certain little Island before the year ends? Charlie

    Cheeky bugger Happy birthday Neal
  22. I had mine made with rollers by Dave of Midas Manufacturing 01202 684620
  23. Thanks Chris If we can get three or four boats I am sure that we could take them all, maybe a short trip to the summer grounds or 50/50 banks. All depends if there is going to be a junior comp and if others feel that this is a good idea. I have no wish to step on anyones toes, or take this over. But I am willing to try and help. Charlie
  24. Last trip out I had this fish I have had houndreds of eels, but I have never seen one like this It was about 20lb and fought like hell so I do not think that it was ill.
  25. Following the Flounder comp Tony and Neal were able to award the prizes to; Jayden for winning and Jacob for being the runner up. Thanks to the organisers and all who sponsored prizes for what is I believe our first junior only competition. As usual at this time of year there are loads of commitments that stop all of the juniors being available yesterday, but I am sure Neal will think of a way to get the other prizes awarded. Both boys were very pleased with their new rod and reels They have met a few times at various functions and will probably grow in to competitive anglers and friends Well done boys and all the other juniors that took part in 2013. Having taught my boys how to fish, and had to change my fishing habits to make sure that they enjoyed it [and still do] I know the commitments needed by parents and grandparents to get the kids fishing. So well done also to the skippers that took any of the juniors fishing this summer. I hope that you enjoyed the reward of seeing their smiling faces. Lets hope that something can be organised for 2014 and that we get a good summer, when even more can get out there and catch some fish to record. Sam has volunteered to help if assistance is required. If it helps I would also take a few parents and kids on the boat one day in the summer, if other larger boats would like to do the same, so that perhaps we could give more juniors the chance to join in as part of the competition. The club and committee can not make this work alone, it is down to parents, guardians and grandparents [thats me in Jan] to step forward if they would like to see juniors getting the chance to enjoy our sport. I am sure that Jayden and Jacob can not wait to get out there using their new tackle. Lets hope that we get some nice weather [perhaps we could take them together Kev ] Charlie
