  1. Hi adam I am having a locker and door made that will be a little larger than I need so I can cut it down to fit the hull shape Glad your work is goong so well, seems strange not to have been out since mid Jan Charlie
  2. Hi Adam I too need a locker for the new capstan, I could make it up myself but after a visit to the guys building Daves new boat I have ordered one from them. May be an option for you too mate. I am sure your time is very tight with the new job and all. Charlie
  3. We have a lot of radios at work We have tried many set ups over the years Icom seem to be the best we have had. Three year warranty helps with the hard use they get. Charlie
  4. Nice when it all starts to go back on Chris I am hoping the locker for my capstan will arrive soon But while I wait there are a list of annual and one off jobs to crack on with. I quite enjoy working on the boat, but would rather be fishing, Its thoughts of great trips like last years Cherbourg trip, two good days fishing in calm weather, that keep us going during March maintenance.
  5. The boat is ashore for her annual maintenance Yesterday the boys joined me, while I cleaned her topsides and cabin tops, Sam scrubbed and rubbed down the antifouling (not a nice job) Dan used his experiance from Purbeck marine to remove the stern drive, as he is the best out of the three of us at getting the DPH drive off it did not tke him long Will joined me today to get the polish out for the rails and topsides Thanks for all of your help guys, we achieved a lot in two days and she was shining in the sunlight when I left. In all that wind, maintenance was about all we could have done this weekend Got to get her looking smart before Daves new offshore arrives in Poole Charlie
  6. Have to agree with Neal, its down to fishing pressure on what is an easy target for the commercial sector Commercials will fall back on any species that is worth money and easy to get. But in this case it is also down to pressure from RSA sector Lots of boats surround the bream marks in summer not all limit the number of fish taken as our Members do This was where I had hoped the fish would get some protection under the new protection zones, until we all heard how toothless they are. Charlie Do you think that there is anytthing we can do as individuals or as a Club?
  7. Was saddened and surprised to see the pictures I think that is a spurdog by the look of its eyes My thoughts were I doubt its a local guy as they would probably have sold the fish to the potters

  15. That definately seemed to be the message that we heard at the Feb Club meeting, hardly fills me with hope that this is one of our best hopes for the future
  16. They always r aise a smile Some are so stupid that they look to have been set up, who pulls the boat forward just as he swings the battery?
  17. Welcome to the Club James The more you join in the more you will get out of your Membership. Very sensible start , asking about training and joining members to learn from their experiances. Charlie (boat name Alfresco)
  18. I have a lowrance transom mount transducer on Alfresco Sighted inside the boat as , martin describes. It works fine, we get a usable reading up to about 20 knots. Mine was tested for position using blue tac, then glued in the bilge with an epoxy glue. It has been there for 7 yesrs now Charlie
  19. Hope that he gets it back soon.
  20. Happy birthday guys
  21. great white

    Tiddler

Nearly fell for that Jim Until I got to the bit where you landed a few fish Raised a smile mate, thanks Charlie
  22. All very well having sealed compartments, but I like to have limber holes down to the bilge I had that discussion with offshore after looking at the boats they finished, that seemed to have voids around tanks etc, their answer was that water should never get in so why worry about how it gets out. I still gave Alfresco lots of limber holes, so any water finishes up in the bilge or central lockers. Three main bilges all have their own pumps (hand and elec) so that water can be removed. No doubt your yard are looking at how to do that for you Nige
  23. That window looks well closed now 60 knots again on Wednesday
