  2. Taken mine off the swinging mooring and put her alongside in the Yacht Haven with a few extra lines as well Hopefully the forecasters are just being very cautious, and the winda are not that bad. As Stave said good job it is a neap tide

  7. I have signed Is now the time to see if the AnglingTrust has the will to really get behind Recreational Sea Anglers and build a case to support Billy and his Members, and all of the assosiated businesses and interests around the Weymouth Sea A ngling scene. Let us all hope that they do I am sure our committee will discuss this and perhaps send the Club a letter of support from PBSBAC. Meanwhile I will send my own letters Charlie
  8. I will be at home this weekend by the look of the weather I have taken a couple of sets home to take to the next meeting, they are here if anyone wants them before the meeting Charlie

  11. Should have taken the day off Can not believe how nice it looks out of my office window
  12. Confident then Alan Going to need the big net Lol Tight lines
  13. Balls under a sealed deck would be my choice, they take up a lot of the available space sonif the hull is holed limitsvthe space for sea water. The marines use this approach on their small landing craft, bullets can break the seal and a few balls but the boat stays semi buoyant (gets to beach before sinks) Negligable addition to the overall weight. My old dory had foam, it became waterlogged and had to be removed. It was hell of a job , but was worth doing because of the weight removed from a planning boat. The same would apply to removing the bulkhead, a lot of weight would go, just remember it is a huge part of the boats strength and stiffness, so some of that has to be put back in. Good idea to cover the boat up Graham she looks good in her tent.
  14. Thanks for letting us know early Dave Gives me time to cancel my bait order and let the crew know Charlie
  15. 1) Fisheagle Allan Green, Jan Triska and John Stephenson. 2) Alf and Martin on dream drifter weather permitting 3) Dean & Martin on AWOL 4) Alfresco Charlie Dan Will
  16. Nice day to be afloat and well done on a few nice fish
  17. Nice Brian Very neat I like the look of those wide screen combi units, I have had a combination Lowrance set on the boat from launch and it has proved to be very good. I record the sonar of when I am hunting aound new marks and wrecks, playing them back later on the PC at home I get exact Lat Long of the main features Have fun learning how it works Charlie
  18. Hi Steve I too have started looking at this issue I do not have any problems with the one fitted to the fore deck of Alfresco, regarding hauling the rope through the gypsy. The problem is stowing the rope in the locker as quick as the rope is recovered by the capstan, so that it does not jam on deck. Because of that I only tend to use it inshore.when I have a crew or two. I have started to look at the side deck capstans, Muir had a smart one at the boat show and another 1000w unit is available from boatgeardirect, but they do not look like they would accept chain arount the drum and it would take a bit of modification to the boat to keep the motor dry, I have started to look at the ones used on commercial boats. The CJ Capstan has a self contained motor but they only use a 750w motor and recovery speed is quoted at 14mtr/min, which is a hell of a lot slower than Dan or Sam recover the rope by hand, after we Alderney ring the anchor LOL. Tom has just had one fitted to Illusion, so I have emailed him to ask him about that question. One small point about your direct swap from a 700w to a 1000w unit. Have you checked the spec of the wiring on your boat? I had to use very heavy cable on mine because of the total length of the cable. You do not want hotspots inside the boat while you recover your warp and chain. Charlie
  19. Nice trip stuie Well done skipper
  20. Thanks brian I feel much heathier now I will try my best to keep taking the medicine
  21. Well done guys Sounds like a great monday
  22. Weather permitting we are in but my crew would revolt [i mean revert to other things] if it goes harbour only
  23. My brother another friend and I all owned dory, s with cabins After I removed the bulkhead from mine and made it into a cuddy, so did they. All three boats were transformed into much better fishing tools, we could duck into the cuddy out of the elements, but still see the rods
  24. Nice one mate See you out there soon Look out fishes
  25. Happy birthday Paul I hope that you had a great day Charlie
