Thanks Chris If we can get three or four boats I am sure that we could take them all, maybe a short trip to the summer grounds or 50/50 banks. All depends if there is going to be a junior comp and if others feel that this is a good idea. I have no wish to step on anyones toes, or take this over.But I am willing to try and help. Charlie

Last trip out I had this fish I have had houndreds of eels, but I have never seen one like this It was about 20lb and fought like hell so I do not think that it was ill.

Following the Flounder comp Tony and Neal were able to award the prizes to; Jayden for winning and Jacob for being the runner up. Thanks to the organisers and all who sponsored prizes for what is I believe our first junior only competition. As usual at this time of year there are loads of commitments that stop all of the juniors being available yesterday, but I am sure Neal will think of a way to get the other prizes awarded. Both boys were very pleased with their new rod and reels They have met a few times at various functions and will probably grow in to competitive anglers and friends Well done boys and all the other juniors that took part in 2013. Having taught my boys how to fish, and had to change my fishing habits to make sure that they enjoyed it [and still do] I know the commitments needed by parents and grandparents to get the kids fishing. So well done also to the skippers that took any of the juniors fishing this summer. I hope that you enjoyed the reward of seeing their smiling faces. Lets hope that something can be organised for 2014 and that we get a good summer, when even more can get out there and catch some fish to record. Sam has volunteered to help if assistance is required. If it helps I would also take a few parents and kids on the boat one day in the summer, if other larger boats would like to do the same, so that perhaps we could give more juniors the chance to join in as part of the competition. The club and committee can not make this work alone, it is down to parents, guardians and grandparents [thats me in Jan] to step forward if they would like to see juniors getting the chance to enjoy our sport. I am sure that Jayden and Jacob can not wait to get out there using their new tackle. Lets hope that we get some nice weather [perhaps we could take them together Kev ] Charlie

Great results guys well done, some very impressive fish and I believe Jan had about a dozen. Who would have thought a fish of 3lb 4oz would come in 4th Well done to those involved in getting the prizes together, I am sure all enjoyed the new format and the chance to take some goodies home. and here is Mick our winner, after a hard days floundering he could not lift the very generous hamper Well done all involved

Thanks for your reply ref the weather Dave, Are we to presume that this comp will be fished to the usual rules regarding times, any 7 hours from 0600, but fish to be bought to scales at Cobbs between 1630 and 1700. and that there is no minimum fish size or requirement to bring live fish to the scales. One more question Where are the fish going to be?? Charlie

Considering how much sharking these guys do it was interesting to see no 13 was caught in 2002 and I believe no 34 this year. but I bet there are not many other boats around here that get two Threshers a year

and perhaps some bouncy seats

They are good Lovely boat, that is willing to travel to get to the fish very experianced Shark anglers that use some serious kit

Hi Dave Wessex Angling used to have a chap that did rod repairs , new eyes etc He collects them from the shop mid week, repairs them and drops them at the shop a week later You may need to check that they still do this and if they do reel seats, now that Neal has bought the shop.
