    Cobbs quay

The further you are down the pontoon fingers away from the Office / shop / bar etc - the more you are affected by both wind and tide. As you get nearer the office it becomes more sheltered by the other boats. Plus it is not so far to walk with your gear - on and off! I you are uncertain about your skills, I suggest you practise a few times in double vacant berths, before trying to get into a single berth. The trick is to go as slow as possible - and use the wind and tide if their is any. I am sure some of the club members would help if you need it. Many of us are based in Cobb's. Neal

  9. Hi Adam, looking at the underside of my bathing platform it has a number of stiffeners front to back. and extra bits where it will be attached to the back of the boat and where the ladder will be attached. Neal

  12. Apologies I had originally put in my diary a second - summer species hunt. This was changed in order to separate flatfish / Ray comp into two separate competitions. For the last few years everyone has targeted rays on the Flatfish / Ray Comp with flatfish of minimal or no size recorded. With more Plaice likely to be caught in the harbour / between the Piers / Southbourne etc. plus more settled weather in July. It would suit the smaller boats in the club! The 48 hr comp is totally separate and can run the same weekend. Hoefully that clarifies the situation - if not I will go through it all again at this Thursdays club meeting
  13. I haven't got round to re-scheduling it - that's the only reason! We have a summer species hunt booked for the 20th July - happy to run both Last weekend's open comp set the bar on species hunting? anyone want to try and better 22 species in one day? or even over 48hrs So 48Hr Comp will be run weekend 18th - 20th July Put you name down early and please pay your £5.00 if you wish to enter Court Jester - Neal + crew TBA
  14. I have seen them hooked off St. Catherine's whilst Tope fishing. They don't stay hooked for very long! Neal
  15. 48 Hr comp postponed only 1 more week until the open...........
  16. I was wondering if club BBQ might restrict numbers - but not everyone in the club has put their names down to attend that either! If however, the consensus is to change the date - given the open comp is a week later, then I will happily do so. comments welcome............ Neal
  17. Next weekend - from 6pm Friday 20th June until 6pm Sunday 22nd June we have the Best Specimen 48 Hr. Competition. Best specimen recorded wins. There is a £5.00 entrance fee to fish this competition and winner takes all! In the past this has been cash - just wondered if entrants would like to convert cash to a prize / prizes or a combination of both depending on number of entrants eg 15 Entrants -Super Kenzaki Braid rod - (rating of choice) 20 Entrants - Rod - plus cash 25 Entrants - Rod and Reel combo Book in as normal and put cash / prize after your name so that I can arrange prize accordingly! Money to be paid to me / other Committee member or Brian to set up Pay pal thing! Neal - prize
  18. I certainly notice the grey slime on the lines if left in the water Martin - I will try your technique - shouldn't need to be buying frozen ones this time of year. Neal
  19. A few weeks ago catching mackerel was not a problem - for the last couple of weeks have really struggled Sunday, only managed one with 4 rods trying different depths and different feathers, sabiki's, lures etc. Tried in-shore, off shore - saw plenty on the sounder! I know the water is a bit murky - but not that bad surely! Anyone else having problems Neal
  20. Happy Birthday Charlie Neal
