    New Boat

After the ongoing problems with my big boat, I decided to get something small but with a cabin to get out of the elements if needed. My mate Chris found a 14ft Dory with a large beam on a decent trailer and a 28hp yammaha for a decent price. I picked it up today. Have to get GPS, VHF etc but she is ready to go on the water now if I need to. I will probabbly put a post up for a buddy boat to accompany me in a couple of days. Hopefully a bass session. Here she is.
  2. nice one James, I was up on the big wheel at the quey when Dawn Raider went through. Result!!
  3. Many thanks guys. Martin, I will definatley go down that route. It was very dangerous and something that I wouldn't reccomend. There was 3 of them in the boat who were ment to be the so called sailing club coastguards. Kam, you are right!!! The thing is though I still want a boat, but she is cursed. I buy and sell boats and we seem to get them very cheap so I might get something cheap, smaller and more practical. Ive got my eye on a 17ft shetland as I would prefer a boat with a decent size cabin so the family can enjoy it aswel. Oh, theres a 17ft Dory on my drive and a 14ft speed boat so maybe one of them will do,hehe Its late and im still wound up, cant sleep as I only got boats and christchurch sailing club on the brain and I want to go fishing!!!! OR give up and buy a caravan!!!! (thats the missus putting demen thoughts inside me again).
  4. Pebble Dash was put in at Wick on yesterdays high water, just moored with premission by the slip. Its only here for a couple of days until the engine was sorted. Anyway, we thought we had everything running sweet today, fired up her up, took her out towards clay pool and she cuts out. A fuel problm??? Well we put 60 quid in so she cant of run dry. We managed to get her going again, after ages of her turning over and turned back, she cut out again and we drifted in towards the sailing club. Tied it up there and spent ages with a marine engineer trying to sort it. Whatever we tried, just wouldnt go, in the end we run both batteries flat. We asked in the sailing club if it was ok there for an hour, we were told in no uncertain terms where we can go and take our boat!!!! Anyway, a so called Coast Gaurd from the sailing club said he would move us, BUT ONLY 20METERS away from his patch, we begged for him to tow us towards the slip and he said he would. Got within 50 m of the slip and he unties his end and leaves us to drift in the channel. We called him and we only got 'well your away from our patch now'. Drifted into a moored boat and held it for a while so we wouldnt drift any further. In the ed we had to wait for the tide to drop a bit, I has my brother wade up to his chin until he reached a rope that we chucked him. She is still by the slip, try and get her tommorrow. Thanks a bunch you stuck up pr*cks!!!!!!!! Anyway, the boat has tested me to the limit, and im going to get rid of her, clean her up, get her running right and sell her on. Anyone guess that im in a bad mood??? Ive spent all my time since she was put under in muddiford harbour getting her ready and she lets me down. Dan p.s sea trout everywhere
  5. Paul J, is it mostly thick lipped up there? Ive had loads of them on bread, just never had a thin and I fancy having a go on spinners for them. Is it best up towards clay pool?
  6. I launched at wick today at high water, slips in even a big boat with no probs at all. Free aswel. Launched at muddiford on Fri and its a different story. You only have to pay between 9-5pm there, but its a pain, very shallow, you have to go out and come in on the right tides. Go from Wick.
  7. Blimey!!!! Thats a cracking haul. Well done matey!!!!!!
  8. well we grounded out anyway and snapped the shearing pin up near the run. A bit hairy but came back on the little mercuary aux on the tilt aswel. Maybe see you out again. Dan. P.S. Im launching Pebble Dash for the 1st time 2moz. Im chucking the big old beast in off muddiford, not to fish but just to do some work on the trim and leg. If any one is about at high water just give me a shout and il help launch you. I'l just be tied up(???hehe) on the railings by the concreat walkway tpo the left of the slip if theres any space.
  9. thanks paul
  10. Hi Paul That wasnt you I helped get your orkney strikeliner off the trailer was it? I was launching a fletcher speed boat, just giving it a test as its due for ebay. I remember the blokes saying about the square prop on there rib. If it was you then you had better luck than us as we grounded out and bust the shearing pin in the prop. Dan
  11. It was mentioned in here a few weeks ago about mooring at Tuckton. Does any one have any prices for a mooring up there? I had a look on the net for some info and couldn't find much. Also, prices for xchurch harbour would be helpful. Thanks Dan
  12. was there many bass on the ledge? Im going to have a go for some maccy and may have a few drifts with a joey if there are any bass about. Dont want to go to far though as it just a small speed boat that we only got today and it goes on ebay soon.
  13. Is it not better to head for St catherines deep for them instead of Poole? Its Just what I have read.
  14. I have loads of Storm shads that have reacted with some green artificial eels (still in the tackle box). The eels now look like thick baby snot. Nice.
  15. Top Bananna
  16. Blimey Adam, what a result. Its better to fish well for a couple of hours and catch, then fish bad all day and blank. Thats a bit early!!! I bet you have a headache now!!! Saying that I was out painting my Wislon Flier at 4.30am this morning!! The kids were playing up and I couldnt sleep. I must of been tired because Ive made a bodge job of it.
  17. Im not really sure what the boating tactics are, but I catch normally catch my beach Sole fishing rag with a small maccy disc on a flowing trace and a size 1 aberdeen. I normally use a light Korda style carp weight about 2-3 oz and let it bounce in tide. No beads and a 80cm trace (12lb amnesia). I suspect fishing on a slow drift with similar tactics would work. Just keep it simple.

    Ice Cream Man

The local ice cream man was found dead in his van. When the kids found him, he was covered in strawberry and chocolate sauce, covered from head to toe in hundreds and thousands and had a large flake in his mouth. Terrible!!! At the inquest, it was told that he was very depressed and decided to 'top him self'
  19. Jim, I recon there is quite alot of sole down there(although tasty, not the best of sport), my mate had one aswel, only small though. Were watching lots of bass from the pier too, didnt fish for them though, decent fish, chasing masses of white bait amongst the iron work. Worth a go for sure. The full pic now hope, instead of half of it!!!
  20. My 2lb 7oz Sole caught last night from Boscombe beach. Rag and maccy done the trick. Its gonna taste great!!!!!
  21. stonking result!!! I saw you and Adam launching off wick yeaterday on BW. Mean while I was stuck in the park with the missus and kids next door nice one matey
  22. Kam, you are a top man, thats more than enough info and its really interesting. It has made my mind up not to tow it as I would put it around the 2000kg mark, well above the rating for the petrol version. I will try and sort out a transit for a launch. Thanks mate. Paul, Thanks for the offer, im not sure when yet, but if all goes to plan, I will be hoping to launch her in a week to 10 days. If you are free, then it would be good to follow you out for a session. I would probabbly preferred going from wick, but the enterance to the muddiford run is shallow and I still havn't located the relay to raise the prop shaft. Lymington seems easier. Speak soon lads and good luck sunday.
  23. Its a 2.0L SRI petrol. I was hoping to get the boat out next week for a day session as im not going to put her back in her muddiford mooring. I will look for an altenative mooring that is still cheap. I will see if I can get a mate to tow it in his transit instead. Fishing this season will be very limited now because of transport. As it is a petrol engine, perhaps the Vectra may not be powerful enough but there is contrasting views. The boat is fairly heavy, 21ft but with a huge volvo lump inside that weighs a fair amount. Is there a site that will give me towing weight, just incase. Also I will be keen on a buddy boat for the 1st session, not travelling to far though as she is juicy. I only have a Fish Finder, no GPS yet. Preferably from Lymington for some smoothies and bass.
  24. I have just got a Vectra 2.0l and want to know if this would be ok for towing a fairly heavy 21 ft boat. The car wasnt bought for this purpos. Will this do for upto 10 mile trips or will a 4x4 still be needed. I dont to hook it up before ive had some advice.
  25. thanks Paul, if u can, PM me the details.
