  1. Either you or Charlie remember the name of the firm? Terry.
  2. Is that you volunteering for tea duties, Jim? Terry.
  3. Sometimes it has to be done! The one in our case was deliberately trying time and again, you could see him aiming. They can't really reach the Adelaide from the beach, only get close but he obviously saw it as beach fishers patch exclusively. Perhaps I should have released the Kraken, or Pete as I know him. Terry.
  4. There used to be a relatively reliable trigger spot Christchurch way towards autumn but that seems to have dried up. The only other spot I caught triggers in good numbers was the wreck of the Adelaide off Chesil beach, the only downside is the beach anglers trying to hit you with their leads. This is very ambitious with the distance involved but we did have one who tied a weight on obviously with a rotten bottom and snatched his rod at the appropriate time.........he missed. My crew at the time, who had a combative side to his nature, suggested I head for the beach and he would have a 'chat' with him. I declined and thought the best reply was to continue catching lots of triggers. Terry.
  5. Very interesting, I wonder where. Terry.
  6. Thank you, this really is a good place. Terry.
  7. Thank you for asking, Brian. After 5 visits to the physio and a Doctor's appointment which confirmed no lasting damage, I am finally able to get about again. It seems almost 100% back to where it was (always a weak spot) but I'm still being a bit cautious, however, things are on the up. I actually had a solo day on the boat on Thursday and am going out with Alun for company on Tuesday so, onward and upwards. Terry.
  8. Thank you everyone for your kind wishes I am hoping to catch up with everyone in the not too distant future, I may even risk a meeting or two. Terry.
  9. I spotted your boat out for a spit and polish on Thursday Kev, getting in early? Terry.
  10. Cheek! How very dare you! Terry.
  11. It is my birthday for God's sake - smoked salmon, obviously with a nice single malt. Terry.
  12. Remember, for club comps you need a minimum of two people for safety. Edit, sorry Jim, I hadn't got as far as your post. Terry.
  13. The good whiting seem to have passed us by, my cousin in Norfolk had over 60 between 3 of them from Cley beach and most were keepers. Terry.
  14. I shall be out next week so watching this Tom. I'm assuming there may be some whiting in as they're being caught off Chesil. Terry.
  15. Busy entertaining family over from Sweden otherwise you wouldn't have kept me away. Terry.
  16. Happy Cake Day Peter, sorry I failed to catch up this year, we'll try again in 2022. Terry.
  17. Sorry, I'm fresh out of Warriors. Terry.
  18. We are once again a one boat family. Stingray will be returning to Cobbs, hardly seemed worth the effort bringing her up here. Jerry, enjoy. Terry.
  19. A very Happy Cake Day Stuie, make the most of your day. Terry.
  20. Thanks for the endorsement Jim. Terry.
  21. Mine is mk 2, 2001 with a very low hours 2017 Suzuki DF70 fitted by Paul at Warrior when I also had new windows done. Dual battery set-up, new Lowrance Hook 2 9" and DSC VHF radio, cuddy extension cover (Warrior), trailing cover, all over winter cover made to measure, bait tank and pump, trailer with new crossbeam, hubs and brakes, mud guards and electric winch with wireless remote. Transom rail (Warrior) with rod rests and bait table. S/S storage baskets fore and aft, S/S roof arch with nav lights and S/S rod tubes. Twin 25ltr Quicksilver petrol tanks, twin tank change over tap, bilge pump. There's probably more but it's been a long day. Terry.
  22. They are the original Smart tabs (stainless) and the hydraulic rams are shot. I can get rams but not the swivel connectors anymore. I have had the boat since 2004 and, quite honestly, I can't say the tabs make a lot of difference, the porpoising can usually be trimmed out with the engine. I'm at the Doc's at the moment getting my booster so I'll let you have details later. Terry.
  23. I actually have one surplus to requirements which should be ready soon. Just got to gel coat over some holes where I removed obsolete smart tabs. Due to ongoing back problem I can't bend down to do it at present. Terry
  24. It was quite a lot of effort. No really! It wasn't all beer and skittles. 😉 Terry.
  25. At last a window of opportunity, I had been going stir crazy. Stuie volunteered for crew and was pontoon-side ready for action at our 08.00 start time, regrettably Min-y-Mor had not been launched so Stuie issued a reminder whilst I attended to more basic needs after a long'ish early morning drive. Everything was forgiven though due to the sun shining, the sea being calm and a good day in prospect. First stop a mackerel call, well that was easy, nothing there. Second stop a tiny reef to pick up some small pollack, bingo! Off for a bit of bassing and Stuie was keen to catch one. It was not the most exciting session with the bass being markedly uncooperative, even Alun on Gastronaught was struggling. However, Stuie managed to get a couple, one a keeper, which seemed to please him so, job done. In the meantime Alun had gone in search of mackerel and lo, he found some. Off we went, of course, and caught as many large mackerel as we needed in very short order, thank you for sharing Al. So, two boxes ticked now for the plaice. I can only say, this was less than sparkling with only small fish coming to our worm offerings, by the way, good worms supplied by Stuie. His technique proved superior to mine with a variety of fish coming to his offerings, plaice, dabs, gurnard and a baby smoothy. We tried a couple of other spots on the way back to Poole but, I have to say, my heart wasn't really in it by this stage so we called it a day and back to the marina for 6'ish. What a fabulous day to be on the water, not a red letter day for fish caught but it has really perked me up. Looking forward to the next one. Terry.
