Well I kind of enjoyed the day. Paul was excelent company and it was a new experience for Cushdy and she handled it all in stride except more mud and sand in every crook and cranny which the last of has just been washed down the drain. Only one bite in the day despite plenty of changes and fresh bait going. It was on for a couple of pumps and then gone. Lesson: When you here people catching, go and poach!! Thanks to everyone who helped organise a good day Regards Fishless Moore

Be careful chaps. When I rang Lowrance to find out what software I needed to added weypoints and stuff directly to my MMC card they strongley adviced against it as they had a number of customers who corrupted their software making the charts useless. Carefull which button you press!!!

You get out too much. 167 on my first go

The carp boys use disolving PVA bags and string. Bait in the bag, bag tied to lead. Not sure what the disolve rate is but might be worth a try. What do you think Adam / James. You were "bivvey" boys. Did you ever use it? Gordon

You're more than welcome

Thanks Charlie, You bet. I just need an anchor bouy and ring and a couple of rod holders and I'm just about there. Soon as that temperature gets up a bit the lack of cuddy should not be problem. Look out you congers Gordon

I think it is about scooping it in but before you put the spring and plunger back in you have to lock the spring up or you will struggle to get the top screwwed on. It's a bit of a sod. Especially with your hands and everything covered in grease. There should be a small notch for the lid to lock on. Watch your fingers because if it slips off while your trying to screw it back on, POW. Some you can put the whole plastic tube of grease in with the ends taken off Good luck Gordon

You also have to consider the race that the bearing sits on that is friction fitted in the hub. If you don't change that the life of the new bearings will shorten. This race is quite a big hammering job. You have to virtually chisel them out and when putting the new one in heat the hub and freeze the race and you need a drift to drive them in. (I have a large socket that I used and your welcome to borrow) Also, when you buy the bearings you have another choice. Cheap Chineese manufactured ones and good quality ones (french japanese etc) Stockist of bearings won't reccommend them but at least you have the choice. A trailer dealer may only have one and if they are cheaper ones they are unlikely to say that they are cheap ones I don't know where you live but Henderson Bearings are a large stockists in Ringwood (crowarch ind. est.) Good luck Gordon

Paul, some of the standard extentions have stainless poles as well as aluminium so I guess it shouldn't be a problem unless they are shielded in some way. Brian, I know you are right. It is just to keep it out the way of swinging fishing leads (in case James comes on the boat! That's what Adam said anyway!!) and general knocks and bangs. The open style of the boat leaves little to mount anything. I think the araldite might be the answer. I will have a play around this Saturday to see if I can make it look tidy Thanks Gordon

I have decided how to mount my GPS Aerial. A nylon adjustable mount on the side of the helm. The next bit is my question. I need to get a nylon or aluminium tube about 18 inches long. The "standard" size seems to 1" x 14. (not sure what the 14 is ) The aerial has a female end and the mount a male threaded end so as you see I need the corrisponding ends threaded. Just looking for a cheaper alternative that

Thanks for all your help. I have done what looks like a good job on the set end and it's a good tight fit, ( as the actress said to the bishop!). As I would now have to dismantle the other end I'll take you up on your offer Adam. Probably easiest if you are coming through from work, let me know and if I can get home you can put it in the car. Gordon Ps did you get my text for that insurance broker?

I have a picture of "Cushdy" at last with Paul looking very cold. He said his hands were cold so I suppose he's trying to warm them! Mind you he had even colder feet later on!!! How does this get on the members boats page? Regards Gordon

I was with Paul this afternoon and it was the first time its been down to the water since the VHF was fitted. It all turned on allright but I'm not certain what is supposed to show on the screen. Channel number was there and that was it. Paul seemed to know and he took the arial out the back of the set and thinks that I need to refit it as most of the core wire had shredded off after being taken apart 2 or 3 times. I will have another go and probably take it down to the coast with a small battery and have a fiddle Thanks Gordon
-
You seem to be on track. I have 90% of the electrics done now. And there were no issues when I took her down to Wick ferry for a trial run. Thanks Gordon

Bob, Remember that switch. Well it turned out that the l e ds needed an earth wire. All seems to working well. Thanks for the drawings from the earlier thread, they were very useful. Now I have to see why my VHF isn't getting a signal Thanks Gordon

Adam, I can't even begin to think about what you have had to give to wangle that. Or what you have been up to today, sweet talking your way round!!!!!!!! Yes I would love to find out what the shambles is all about. With all these boats going they will be queing up to drift. I will talk to "er in doors" to see if she won't mind walking home from work I will confirm early in the week Thanks Gordon
-
Yes, that was the original plan, so I should find out later. Although if anyone knows, I'm still curious

I knew what the guage was for (even though it didn't work. I was curious about the wire from the remote and any possible problems about disconecting it Regards Gordon
