  1. Terry, i use a grease called Fuchs (be careful how you say this one) "Renolit aqua 2" from Ashley power Parkstone. waterproof and temp range -30c--+100c also cartridge form and not that messy tub stuff I have had no problem with this one but i do tend to "lube-up" alot Gary
  2. I think regular servicing is the key here with plenty of fresh marine grease packed into the bearings. I personally don`t use the so called bearing savers prefering to take the dust cap off at more regular intervals, also using white grease on most of the moving parts inside the drum be careful not to get this onto the face of the brake shoes. If you need to use glue with the knots your using i would consider changing knots Is the knot your using failing ? Are you wetting the knot before tightening it ? Gazza

  10. After helping out by keeping the numbers up on the comp is it possible to access the results to see how i faired to the rest of the die hards? It would be interesting to see how my half-hearted attempt compared to the more experienced fishermen. This may or may not give me the incentive to try again...... (depending on brownie points) who knows maybe even trying for the BFM comp? Gary

  15. Paul, The only problem i had with my E-tec was the none starting situation 4miles south of old harry (broken wire). Got a tow back to Poole then used aux to get me into slipway. Does anyone use seastart? I think for a small boat there not too bad a price for peace of mind. And that they will come and get you 24/7. Not sure how far out they go though! Any thoughts on this company? Gary
  16. Catch one bigger than 15lb then claim a record i think! I thought most smoothhounds caught in this area are starry and the other type come from Bristol Channel area so it`s more likely that the record holder caught a starry
