Charlie, Been there , done that After a lovely relaxing day on the water what better way to make this happy feeling last than to arrive at the slipway about 5.00pm on one of the hottest days of the year so far. Never mind only the August bank holiday to cope with and then it`s all down hill till winter I know it sounds crazey but i'd sooner fish from the shore on days like this rather than get totally stressed trying to get the boat out Best of luck to you Gary

Exellent site Now i know i am not the only owner that has problems with their E-tec Loads of help and advice here though, It seems to be run by 2 or 3 E-tec dealers giving good honest advice Gazza

Trim tabs also stops corkscrewing when travelling at speed through other boats wake not to sure on the fins though which is very handy when travelling by poole training bank on a sunny sunday afternoon about 5.00PM (big boats and looney`s spring to mind) Mine seem to work fine at 10mph.....(Warrior 165) Mind you if you saw my brother`s lunch box you can see why i can 'plane' when not actually moving Gary
-
jim, most people seem very happy with their E-tec`s but i am not too pleased with mine, quite a few problems plus the over all build quality is very weak and easily broken,(take a close look at the hood catches and the wrap around shell) very flimsey I would not buy another one but i think i would go for the Japanese makes, as with their cars they are very good Paul can you remember the cost of the service for the 60 E-tec as mine is due in the next 8 months Gary

I have a 165 and when i take my wife and two kids out (ages 5 and 8) i sometimes prey for a bigger boat.....by the time its loaded with fishing gear, swimming gear, spare clothes, back seat and a lunch box to feed an army there is not a lot of room left. however if you would like to swap i may be interested but surely if time is hard to come by then it does not matter what boat you have waiting for you............believe me i know Gary

Improved Albright........Google it Gary

We had a problem Saturday aswell!!! snapped steering cable!!!!! We got a tow back safely with Bob wotton on 'Josephine' used auxilllary when back in harbour but i would not like to use it coming back into Poole entrance around tea time Portland harbour mentioned 'Sea Start' after this Bob Wotton said they would probably charge
-
Why not try 'sea start' this is the AA of the sea, No idea how much it costs per year or what there terms of breakdown recovery is........Probably cheaper to get a auxillary engine in the long run. Glad your safe..... Gary

Conger king...........PM him ....all sizes available Gary

Jim, If you need some advice on Alderney rings try in the search forum . MK11 you can tell by the shape of the side windows.....MK1`s are more of a triangle shape. If youre not to sure on using one then i would try and practice in a shallow water mark about 40' deep in sand, with a neap tide. If i have time i can give you a demo if i`m out when you are I dont get out as much as i would like...busy family i guess but i hope to fish the bream comp on the 11th(no time to play then though)weather depending........ plus if their feeding well .......'i will be busy'. Gary

If anyone wants lifting bouys try 'conger king'......he has loads of them all different sizes aswell.(He loves walking the purbecks after storms) You may have to wait for a while if you P.M him as his computer is being fixed Gary
-
I find it cheaper by the gallon....using a spray gun . From most places that supply the car spare parts market.....I use the one down Sharp Road (Alder Hills). Also i use Salt-x on my trailer brakes after launching the boat then rinse properly when boat is retrieved. As a matter of interest how many of you rinse your brakes after launching....when in 'GET FISHING MODE ' Gary

Paul, Are all E-tec dealers the same price ? I.E is it a set price ? Also, did they offer you any upgrades to the fuel management system ? I`ve got my service next year, but my hours won`t be anything like 300 hrs I suppose i had better book it in just before the 3yr deadline in case the find something wrong Gary
-
I don`t know if you can still do this but i can remember getting some drum brakes re-lined. these were screwed down as well as stuck....but i cannot remember the place to go . I know it use to be in a back road off Winton. They moved to a industrial estate 'somewhere' but i can`t even remember their name. sorry Gary
-
The latest thing to go wrong with mine was the hood retaining clips breaking off!!! If you look at yours you will see how flimsey they are. would i buy another one........ Not if i could afford a Honda (5yr warranty) 1st to go wrong ....fuel line not fitted correctly 2nd ....trim switch stuck on(common problem i`m told by dealer) 3rd ....broken wire somewhere (computer says NO)5 miles s old harry 4th ....broken hood retainer Buy another one Gary p.s less than 60hrs

Dave, Been looking at the ABU Revo not too sure yet though anyone else use them? There a low profile baitcaster with thumb bar with a gear ratio 6.4.1 wich is pretty fast plus 10 bearings and a roller bearing. i would like to hear views on these...... if any? Gary
-
Don`t forget about the trailer. these are another costly part of the maintenence schedule. A 3yr old trailer that has not been looked after properly will cost a small fortune to get into shape!! good luck in finding one, i also have a 165 with a 60 etec and am very happy with it. Gary
-
try freezing them in their shells........when defrosted again they just fall out!! or....defrost and crush the lot if you want groundbait. Gary
