  3. I was in Force 4 yesterday and speaking to Marcus. He informed me that they had had a break in and 16 inflatables have been stolen. They are still in the boxes so if anyone offers you a cheap inflatable let the police know. Before anyone asks, I can't remember the make. Colin
  4. Try Sandbanks marina only swinging but a good price and only two mins from the entrance. Colin
  5. I would use anything in my ground bait. Ask Pete Snr, i've impressed him a few times with the smells coming from my bucket!!!!
  6. Planting of crops is totally controlled by man. Large herds of animals are totally controlled by man. The wiping out of complete breeding shoals of wild fish is totally controlled by man.
  7. It's a good job there are quotas as I don't think any fishery can support catches of 1000 tons in thirty minutes for very long. That was skipper John Bucan's ( I think that was his name) full quota in half an hour!! Now that is scarey!!!! Colin

  18. Sunday was a late start 'cos we had been out the night before celebrating. We got under way 1000hrs and shot out to Old Harry but it was not too nice so we turned round and went back in to fish the harbour for Plaice. Pete Snr was already moored up and his crew had a good sized fish in the bucket. We picked up a bouy and set about the job of hooking a Red Spot. After half an hour nothing and Pete had landed another fish. I decided to try a float just to get a bit more movement to the bait. Bobi was getting to the sleepy stage that she gets to when she hasn't caught anything after half an hour, so she curled up to have a snooze. As she did I had a bite to the float which got her interest but not a Plaice it was a plump pan sized flounder. Bobi was dozing again when I had another bite I lifted into it and fish on, a good fish by the feel. I brought it to the surface and yes I could see those red spots but it didn't want to stay and it went straight back down. I roused my sleepy wife by shouting get the net!! Which she kindly did. I had fun with the fish for a few minutes and then Bobi netted a nice Plaice only to see it sticking out a hole in the bottom of the net (must fix that). A quick twist of the net and it was well wrapped up and lifted onto the deck. Out with the scales 2lb13oz, result. There followed another period of nothing and I was getting a bit sleepy now (red wine and scotch catching up with me). My phone rang waking me and as I answered it,yes my rod bent over I managed both the call and the fish, only a small Plaice this time but the circle hook had managed to go in and out and back in the gill no way this fish would survive. It was sizable, so with the Flounder would make a good meal. We decided to get back early for us and as we packed up I managed another Flounder. So all in all a nice day out on my birthday and Bobi let me catch all the fish. No new species but target taken and now eaten. Colin

  21. Thanks Son and the rest of the sub committee too for all your hard work on putting on the open. I know what a thankless task it can be having organised many beach and casting comps in the past myself. Well done on the prizes and the food both high quality. We really enjoyed our day and even managed another species. I would like to say to all those that were making negative comments before the comp that it is now your turn to take on the job of arranging next years open. It's no good moaning about the arrangements a couple of weeks before the event! Once again a big thanks to all involved from Bobi and Colin
  22. Sorry didnt see you I only lifted the anchor cos it was dragging and I was a bit worried I was dragging onto the trip boat that was anchored up. I reset it just a bit further out. We were one of the last boats to leave the area. Sorry again I will pay more attention next time Colin
  23. Be prepared for all the numpties who know nothing boating they all seem to come out for this one. It will get very busy between the piers and be careful on your way back home it is often chaos through the run. But it is still a great day out enjoy it. We are out tomorrow for some of it but fishing is our priority and the air show an added bonus. Give us a wave if you see us Colin
