  2. Dan, Toms can be quite scary creatures. When in the job, I was on a crime unit in So'ton city centre, around the Jungle, and we used to give the girls three warnings, then nick em. All sorts of offers used to ensue, once you have 'em in bracelets on the back seat of the unmarked!! Funny how the pimps soon thin out once their bitches are nicked!!!! Nice story mate....remember to9 doa few things before using your car again. A). Check the entire inside for gear or bent cards. . Wash the kiddies seat....these craetures carry some awfull germies. C). Sell your car..........theyve got your number!!!!!

    New Mould

Kam, all my lead comes from BB, who collects it on his travels.......you know what a pikey he is ........and it is generally in sheet form. I cut it down into 1" strips and find it runs very quickly once the cruciblelead is wet. I am looking at upgrading the kit I have to a crucible on a stand, with lever to pour directly into moulds. This will be a safer method than the one I currently use. Apparently, there is an additive which you can sprinkle onto the molten lead, which takes away the dross, and almost completely does away with the waste slag which forms on the surface.........anyone know what it is called?? Rich
  4. Simon, many happy returns. Sea temp will be dropping slightly out there, Red fish are biting well on the intercoastal, my friend tells me. Offshore, snapper and grouper fishing should also be picking up. Get some inshore action on the fly, well worth it. Rich

    New Mould

Appologies Terry, didnt see your last question! The cannonball moulds are Do-It moulds, they retail over here at around
  6. Jase, Ive had the sundridge two piece, and the Penn two piece, the sundridge trollies were excellent for a lanky lard arse like me, the jacket was a tad uncomfy whereas the Penn jacket is fine and the trousers are uncomfy @R'ich
  7. Mikey, the comments re. handling in a following sea are V true, the boat does tend to crab easily, and I feel, is arse light. The comfort the cabin offers is excellent, giving good stowage space, a small galley area for that ever welcome bacon sarnie and cup of splosh, with a good amount of deck space, even for the larger angler. Stability is excellent, when two of you are stood on one side of the boat, all in all, I'm very happy with it. On the negative side, the finish on some aspects are a tad lacking, on Marks old boat, the window leaked, the windscreen wiper housing leaked, the hatch ctaches broke, on our boat, the same can be said of the winscreen wiper box and hatch catches. If you can put up with that on a new boat....go for it....if not, look at other brands. Rich
  8. Peter, some forces may, but they then get qualified people in to dispose of them, so it becomes an ar$eache for the station sgt to dispose of them, and that gets put in the too difficult basket!! With over a hundred boats in the club.......thats a heck of a lot of flares approaching expiry!!! Rich
  9. Almost a fifty fifty split, which couldnt really be fairer. Very good to see different faces up at the prize table, too. Roll on Nov 2007! Rich
  10. Andy, our buddy boat for the comp was catching them over the Hood last sunday, and Mark and I saw a boat taking them there the week before, when a huge beastie was squirting water up over the boat, it looked like a massive fish splashing on the surface. The Hartlepool also holds them, as does the other small wreck nearby at the mouth of the Harbour. Billy had a huge one off the stone pier recently too........... and I beleive he caught a big squid too!! Were you using purpose made jigs for them?? If not, buy a few, fish them on a short snood of heavy mono, with a decent weight underneath, and bounce them on a retrieve. They work very well. Rich
  11. Andy.......Hood, Hartlepool or close in to the Piers?? Rich
  12. I bet the Trophy weighs a tad more than the fish!!! Well done Gary, good effort. Rich
  13. Again, thanks Bob for your valiant efforts behind the keyboard both before and especially after the event, meaning that you lost valuable fishing time, often just enough time to squeak out a prize winner! A great day. Rich
  14. No Brill or Turbot, but a good flounder.....well done that man, Conger took heaviest round.......well done that man, specimen round was indeed a bully, although not many specimen flounders were weighed in. Maybe a tad early?? No Guffer wrasse or Bass Congrats to all Prize winners. Rich
  15. To say that the seven P's wont let you down, was an understatement yesterday!! Having fished weymouth the last three outings, and cleaned up in the species comp bagging 100% fish every trip, Mark and I decided to launch from Weymouth and fish 'till 1500, then make the run back to Moonbase Alpha for the weigh in, if indeed we had a weigher Our day started early, particularly early for our Buddy Boat, Terry and his crew on Sea Mistress. With his boat already in Poole, Terry only had the arduous drive up from Kent with his motley crew....not dragging a ton and a half of Quicksilver around the M25. I called him a s soon as I left home, and he was ust leaving Rownahms services...so we quickly oined up, and sped down to Marks, to be met by the glorious Dotty with bacon sarnies and a hot cup of splosh, (that is going to cost you dearly Mark!!). Boats hitched, and I took John from Terrys crew to sign in, while the others nipped down to Weymouth and launched the boats. Signed in, all we had to do now was wait for Al, who had decided on a lie in Al arrives, bleary eyed, and we get our B.A.S.S. registration card, for that whopper we were going to net later!! Met up with respective boats, and off we jolly well go, first stop was the Hood, for livebaits, and the chance of some Gars and Scad. All we had was Pollock after Pollock, one small Gar, no snakes like the previous two trips, and no jumbo Scad. With an hour wasted here, next stop was a drift for Flatties, trying to sneak out a Brill or a Turby, fish we have bagged on our last two trips, "That shouldn't be difficult now should it?" WRONG!! No flatties for us today. Off to the Race for a Bass or six.....ah...we have to catch bait still!! Edge of the Race, feathers down, and Mark is hauling up the macky in true Mackeral Meiseter fashion, while I quietly sneak on a fillet and drift for a stray Bass, which was duly bagged, weighed, photographed and released. With time now running out, our last effort was a 100% Bully, so we found our chosen mark, in a good depth, and anchored up, in what was becomung a lively sea to put it mildly!! Doggy after Doggy, wind drops, tide doesnt, wind picks up, tides still running, bacon sarnies made and scoffed, baits changed, BullHuss on!!! As bait was becoming scarce, it was my fourth fish on this fillet, luckily the bully didnt mind. In a lively sea, she went between 9lb and 12lb, so I knew I was close to 100%, the marker we had set ourselves for a weigher. Into the livewell, and that fish, my friends came twenty minutes before our designated lines up time, a little like my flounder last year Bob!!! One more huge bite for me, and a good fish was dropped halfway way up, Possibly a strap conger, but my money was on another Bullhuss the way it was going. Time out, so we up anchor, and steam back to the reletive calmer waters of the outer harbour. Onto the quay beside Topcat, and out I jump with my spoils. Into the back of Percy, and then the long sunday drive back to Poole for the weigh in, luckily, the Huss remeined alive, she went 9lb 4oz on club scales, and swam off when released, so I was a happy bunny. I had managed a fish for the prize table, but so had Mark, lessons to be learned here, as with plenty of other entrants, a 50% fish is still a weigher, even if it IS a Doggie!! A super Icom Handheld for the boat, great day out, and a near 100%er released again, another good day out for the Lardy Boys!!! Rich
  16. Thanks for making the trip Terry, not all best laid plans come to fuition!! Hopefully, we will see you all launching this way again soon, I think our next comp will be the Flounder festival, and if I'm very lucky, I get to prepare the hamper again!! Rich
  17. Many Happy Returns lads. Rich
  18. .......................and heres my monstrous fish, a by catch on Lights in one, Portland, taken on a mackeral fillet, 6/0 presented on a five foot trace. Rich

    New Mould

This mould does 1oz to 4oz, and Ive just taken delivery of 4oz to 6oz, and 12oz and 16oz. Size wise, they are smaller than bopedo's, and offer a good drop when wrecking/drifting, but also enable you to bounce back to search a given area behind the boat, If anyone wants any, let me know, I'll bring them to the december meeting, in return for sufficient lead to cover my smelting, time and cost of brass loops. Rich

    New Mould

The mould with leads in place, and box of leads.......hopefully!
  23. With the indicated wind speed reducing, Mark and I hope to stick to our original plan, with Terry and crew on board Sea Mistress for company. Tight lines to all......and no bogus road blocks between Weymouth and the weigh please!!! Possibly see you down the Duncan. Rich
  24. Dan, small males will begin congregating in areas that will hold decent females for spawning, feb/march time, when they move to the shallows and flooded areas. A catch of small males will generally lead to at least one big female showing, from my experience, I have taken some huge lough pike on jack livies. A 30 from a river is a monstrous fish, my largetst river pike was a beast of 27lb, taken just under the bridge at Greatbridge, on the river test. A perch of 2lb is a beauty, Adam snagged a monster from the river last time we all fished the Avon, my guess looking at it would have been around 3 1/2 lb ish. Smaller stormies took those, but James showed the way with livebaits. I'll look forward to an oppertunity to fish with you chap. Rich
  25. Nice one m8, always good to see a different perspective on here. Looks around sixish lbs?? How big did the Perch go, and what did they take, small livebaits or lures?? If you want partner one morning, give us a nudge m8, havent taken a pike this year. Rich
