  1. Dunc, we did manage nine species, well Mark squeaked out nine, I squeaked out eight, and a pretty good score considering it was the last species hunt. I think we were first and second Rich Ps I think I can still hold the Gay Badger tag. PPS Mark is lardier than me...............................................JUST!
  2. Had to giggle to myself on reading the catch reports for the comp, on getting in last night from my arduous days angling and eating with my lardy mate Mark. There was us drifting steadily for Bass in the Race, .......when the phones go.......chinese whisper style......."Bugger, He's only got a 30lb cod!!!! Thats fish of the month sorted then!!!!" Only to read the forum and its shrunk to 13lber!!! Im just glad we decided to get the frying pan out and drown our sorrows with another Wild Boar burger, and egg and bacon sarnie. Cant have the lardy boys wasting away now can we??? Still a good fish for an early season Cod, well done!! Rich

    Which Boot?

Bob, I use the neoprene boots, very compfy, good grip, and quite warm. For increased warmth on those long, cold, "Open Comp" type days when the cod ust aren't biting, I have a set of Ron Thompson neoprene socks, with fleece liners, which keep your feet warm as toast. On the negative, I did have a set of those hotfoot boots, which I duly slung out, as they were like a certain race from Iraq........sheites!!! Rich

    Hi All

Welcome to the best small boat forum on the net. Hope you get what you need from the rest of the guys. Rich
  5. Mark and I sneaked out of Weymouth today, heading for the Harbour, tally's are as follows: Mark. 4 Mackeral 4 LSD 3 Pollock 2 Bream 4 Garfish 1 Pout 1 Bass 4 Wrasse (including a magnificent Cuckoo of 1lb 2 oz For the book please Charlie) 4 Scad Rich. 4 Mackeral 1 LSD 4 Pollock 1 Bream 4 Garfish 1 Bass 4 Wrasse 4 Scad Considering that the Pollock mackeral Bass Gars Wrasse and scad came in the first hour and a half, I think we did pretty poorly!! Local knowledge certainly paid off on this comp, we both thoroughly enoyed it. Rich
  6. High-Ho, High-Ho...its off to the Race we go, With macky and launce, We're in with a chance, High-, High-Ho! Rich.........ever hopefull!

  9. Charlie, Mark and I are venturing out on Nipper.......hoping for cod bass bullies pout gars macky scad lsd turbot brill wrasse and maybe a late smoothy....a few rays........then we'll wake up. Rich
  10. Gawd ..... Karaoke.........dont let Rocky read this!!! Excellent Dave. Rich
  11. From experience, the commisioners key, alias a 7lb lump hammer, works very very well on padlocks!! Rich
  12. Like it!
  13. Round fish wise, Cuckoo, Gars, Bullies, and pout will all be achievable, I think that a Turbot or Brill out of Poole is a tad unlikely, but yes, a flounder may make an apperance Rich
  14. Thanks.....Ive just edited the one Bob gave me, and printed a couple off, just so we know what we are chasing Rich
  15. PJ, what are the chances of putting a link on here that show our species list, and 50% specimen weight?? Rich
  16. Sure thing MIke, have a good day. Rich
  17. Hi Dave........welcome to the darker side!! Enjoy the best small boat forum on the net. Rich
  18. Mr Whittal, welcome, welcome , welcome......enjoy the banter Paul, Rich
  19. Gord....I had bagged up on Scad, macky, pout, in two drifts, about eight minutes!!!! Our comp allows for ten of each species.......so four is a scinch!!!! Rich
  20. Both items now sold, 10 % of proceeds will go to the club funds. Rich
  21. Mike, the box is yours. Rich Hopefully, fishing in weymouth this sunday.....can we meet up??
  22. I have a couple of items to get off the shelf, to make some space in the garage, namely a Shakespear seat box and a Penn lever drag reel. The box has a cutting board on the seat, and I'd like a tenner for it, and the reel is the 325(?) lever drag, loaded with 30lb braid, lets say
  23. Gord.......all the usual marks are producing many different species, so its not rocket science deciding where to fish. If the weather is kind, theres even a chance of Cod and Bass on the Banks still, although we didnt get that far bout last friday. Good bets are Checkers, the harbour entrance, the Hartlepool........thats pout, pollack, wrasse, gars, mackeral, john dory's and bream sorted, just a few miles steam for your Brill, Turbot and Bass, the nip east for all your dogfish species, along with the stragglers of the mustelus clan, and a slim chance of a plaice still, over the mussel beds........ So your tally should be somewhere in the 180's!!!! (Not a dart score, I may add!!!!!) Rich
  24. Hi Barry, god to see you using the Forum. I spoke with Hampshire Police Marine unit, and believe it or not, they couldnt get a registration number from the CCTV footage of the Landy that removed the Rib from Lyomo!! I was amazed........it appears that they can get your number from CCTV high on a stantion above the M25, just in order to send you a
