  1. but most aint Americans .... fortunately.
  2. I actually bought my trailer from the people selling that hubduck in Staines and it was supposed to have a flushing kit included. It wasn't till I uses it the first time I realised it wasn't there, but by that time i was nearly 100 miles away with a ton and a half of boat on it!
  3. My whole trailer is steel . In all seriousness, the hub duck kits look like brass but the flush kit does look like a much better job. I think I have tried the cheap route enough already with this boat set up so will probably spend the extra and get the ones that have been tried and tested by members.
  4. if you scroll down to the bottom of the advert on ebay you will see it says FREE UK DELIVERY. I am about to order one and see
  5. Thank you Duncan and Adam for your views. I asked for opinions and that is exactly what I got. Once Duncan mentioned the Aladin tec 2g i did a search of the review sites and it seemed to be about even with the suunto in preference. Some swore by the aladin, others preferred the suunto. The cost at
  6. ha ha, too late Adam . I took delivery of a nice shiny Aladin tec 2g yesterday. It was only a couple of hundred quid so if i dive regularly and find its not quite right I will stick it on ebay, get most of my money back and get a different one. Really and truly I dont expect to be diving that often anyway cos i struggle getting time to do all my other hobbies already without trying to fit another one in! Thanks for the info/help everyone.
  7. Becky M ...... I caught my best ever fish on Becky M. Got my picture on the first page of the gallery on his website. It was that trip that inspired me to buy my own boat and take up drowning bait on a more regular basis.
  8. I am going to order one of those Aladin Tec 2g's tomorrow.
  9. That is exactly the info I wanted thanks Duncan, Thank you very much. I looked at loads of wrist computers today ranging between
  10. Hi, I know some of you guys are divers and I could be doing with a bit of advice please. I have booked myself a little jolly to Egypt in a couple of weeks time to do my advanced dive course and am on the lookout for advice on a relatively inexpensive dive camera and dive computer. I don't want charity, It is advice I am looking for. I dont want to spend upwards of a grand to get a computer that will be used occasionally if you experienced divers think a
  11. I intended on drowning a couple of worms while I was out but when i popped to Wessex angling to get a few at about 1.30 they were shut Grrrrr .... i could have started my year off today too. Oh well, theres always next week.
  12. It definitely looked like one of them Gazza. It was not a flounder. Lovely fish it was. Sorry BillyBass, i didnt realise you were a member otherwise i would have kept quiet till you had posted.
  13. I was out in Poole harbour today (with no rods or bait) trying out my new engine that I recently bought from Wrasster and had a quick chat with some guys in a small boat fishing in the harbour. They had a 2 1/2lb plaice with them that they had just caught so it would seem they are here already!!
  14. ha ha, that is such a coincidence. I was listening to conversations about demijohns between Adam and Zed at the weekend. Not heard the word for about 20 years (since my old man used to pick up all sorts of wierd stuff and make vinegar out of it and claim it was wine), now twice in a few days
  15. It was good to see you today Adam and your smile said it all. You were a natural, no one would ever have known it was your first time. You were much more at ease on it than I was, and it was my 5th or 6th trip. It is good that you now have first hand knowledge of what goes on on these yaks and you will understand the debates much better now. Great comparison to the diving; it's all about the kit and being prepared.
  16. Hi Adam, "Lake Pier" is down towards Rockley. It is off Lake Drive. There is free parking, toilet facilities and easy access to the water. If you know Moriconium Quay (Posh looking properties built around pontoons in Hamworthy) it is near there, and near to the Royal Marines boat yard. I will PM you my number and will see you tomorrow. Graham.
  17. Is still pretty chilly out there Adam. 2 or 3 hours is fine by me. I am sure there will be much more worthwhile occasions to use up those brownie points.
  18. Half way?!?!?! :-)
  19. The more i think about this the more I think I could be over stretching myself. I intend coming along but might have to limit the distance I try.
  20. Adam, an anchor trolley is a method of getting the anchor rope to the front or back of the yak as you obviously cant reach either. If you are tying up to another yak its not a problem and I am sure one of the more experienced lads will be able to sort something out for us. I will bring a spare life jacket just in case its needed. (not a PFD but better than nothing). Graham.
  21. i will be there saturday and will bring 2 yaks. remember one of them has no anchor trolley etc. i have spare xl dry suit too.
  22. Hi Brian, That is very good of you. I presently use a 1.5 on the yak that is set up so I would have thought a 2kg would be perfect. If you let me know where you are I can arrange collection and you must let me give you something for it. Graham.
  23. I have 2 yaks so you are welcome to borrow one of them Adam. I would not for one minute suggest you use me as your guide for the day tho' as I am a complete novice too. If you find someone who can go with you, you are welcome to borrow one of them whether I am there or not as I doubt you will do it any more harm than I would do myself. One of them has no anchor setup of any sort btw. I wouldn't mind tagging along too although mid week is probably not great for me but I might be able to squeeze away if the timing is right. Graham
  24. What weight is it Mike? I would be interested if the weight is somewhere near what I think I want and if you are reasonably local. Cheers Graham.
  25. Jon, are you up for a little private job? (and more to the point allowed by your employer)? I have a little house in Creekmoor that I rent out, it could possibly be doing with changing a bath. I am sure is a simple enough quick job for someone who has the tools. If you are able (and allowed) reply and I will phone you. Graham.
