  1. The more i think about this the more I think I could be over stretching myself. I intend coming along but might have to limit the distance I try.
  2. Adam, an anchor trolley is a method of getting the anchor rope to the front or back of the yak as you obviously cant reach either. If you are tying up to another yak its not a problem and I am sure one of the more experienced lads will be able to sort something out for us. I will bring a spare life jacket just in case its needed. (not a PFD but better than nothing). Graham.
  3. i will be there saturday and will bring 2 yaks. remember one of them has no anchor trolley etc. i have spare xl dry suit too.
  4. Hi Brian, That is very good of you. I presently use a 1.5 on the yak that is set up so I would have thought a 2kg would be perfect. If you let me know where you are I can arrange collection and you must let me give you something for it. Graham.
  5. I have 2 yaks so you are welcome to borrow one of them Adam. I would not for one minute suggest you use me as your guide for the day tho' as I am a complete novice too. If you find someone who can go with you, you are welcome to borrow one of them whether I am there or not as I doubt you will do it any more harm than I would do myself. One of them has no anchor setup of any sort btw. I wouldn't mind tagging along too although mid week is probably not great for me but I might be able to squeeze away if the timing is right. Graham
  6. What weight is it Mike? I would be interested if the weight is somewhere near what I think I want and if you are reasonably local. Cheers Graham.
  7. Jon, are you up for a little private job? (and more to the point allowed by your employer)? I have a little house in Creekmoor that I rent out, it could possibly be doing with changing a bath. I am sure is a simple enough quick job for someone who has the tools. If you are able (and allowed) reply and I will phone you. Graham.
  8. am out of the area tomorrow but if i can get back in time i will be there.
  9. I am suprised nothing has been written as I saw lots and lots of boats out in the harbour fishing on Sunday. I had a little paddle out on a yak in the afternoon and spoke with a couple of crews on board boats who had become very frustrated at drowning worms for the day. Maybe everyone blanked and no one wants to be the first to say
  10. signing in at Poole is much better for me, but what about weigh in? Would there be two weigh ins?
  11. Exactly Pirky .... It is refreshing to know that its not just us part timers that get it wrong ..... Mind you I get it wrong EVERY time !
  12. Two blond girls were working for the council works department. One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind her and fill the hole in.. They worked up one side of the street, then down the other, then moved on to the next street, working furiously all day without rest, one girl digging a hole, the other girl filling it in again. An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn't understand what they were doing. So he asked the hole digger, 'I'm impressed by the effort you two are putting into your work, but I don't get it -- why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and fill it up again?' The hole digger wiped her brow and sighed, 'Well, I suppose it probably looks odd because we're normally a three-person team. But today the girl who plants the trees called in sick.

  14. I have "special guest" tickets and intend on being there one day this week although not sure which day yet. Unfortunately it cant be wednesday!
  15. some of them looked like they would tip over! I suppose it just goes to show how bouyant boats really are.
  16. yep, end of panic. They obviously just left early (and who would blame them). Out with the wallet again today :-)
  17. ha ha Jim, I had to look twice at that the first time too. Anyway .... I got the impression from the guy at their door that they had GONE, and not just left for the day. I will pop down tomorrow and check again (and probably spend even more money with them if they are about)
  18. we didn't have much snow down here, but I hope you are right. I have always found them to be a good bunch in there.
  19. I popped down to force4 (on Bournemouth Road, Poole) today for my usual little chat with the blokes down there and it was all shut up???? A guy outside was stopping traffic from going into their drive (which also had a bollard up) and he told me they closed up shop and left at 1 today?? Tell me its not gone for good, I used to enjoy my little visits down there and have spent a small fortune there over the years.
  20. me too :-)
  21. slightly better than the "Cracker jokes" we have been subject to recently ...... but only VERY slightly.
