  1. Adam And a happy new year to you. You won't need to twist many arms I purposely didn't start a thread on this trip as I know historically you have sorted out dates etc. As far as I can see AWOL will be up for making it over this year. We didn't make last year but that was down to weather and alternative dates not being suitable for us. We will probably stay on the boat this year or maybe book accommodation last thing. Looking forward to it and fingers crossed for good weather Martin
  2. Snipped from Gatwich airport terms
  3. I know nothing much about them but am suspicious of the fins. Here is a Previous Thread and Another
  4. They would be shot
  5. Only trouble with that is the cost? work out how much it would cost to keep a car in one of these so called secure car parks 24/7 365days per year on a pro rata floor space occupied and teh cost would come out more than most if not all boat parks in the area. Would we be prepared to pay more than we do now? maybe for a short while, perhaps after a loss but long term? realistically I doubt it, we already feel robbed This next quote is lifted from NCP car parks I would however agree with most of your other points. The only good thing is they have by their actions acknowledged there is a problem if only by their actions in upgrading some of the security issues which hopefully will be ongoing. I am not trying to defend any yard or be controversial just trying to put it all into perspective. Look on stolen boat and research which yards and areas being targeted it really is an eye opener. I will though be asking Rockley what they are planning on doing to protect my pride and joy before I renew my contract for this year. I would say our gear whatever it is and wherever it is, is not safe..... anywhere..any vigilantes out there? Martin
  6. I actually don't think the security at rockley is any worse to that of other yards, ask those that are in Ribs and have been robbed or those in Cobbs that have lost kit, As an aside I was in the yard today and was told that they have put in additional cameras and perimeter fence alarm this week. A little late but they are trying. Also recently the gates were made more secure however that's not a lot of help when scrotes go through a wire fence. Regarding insurance no yard will cover your goods for theft. They will only cover you for damage caused by their activities/staff. Try claiming from a car park owner if your car is broken into or stolen. Martin
  7. Stuie I think you ought to read your terms and conditions of berthing at Cobbs, I just have and after reading would be surprised if the yards insurance would cover theft it states: I would love to be proved wrong but I would think for theft your own boats insurance should cover you. I would also think it normal practice to claim on your own insurance then for them to claim against the yard if appropriate. That's exactly as it happens in car insurance claims and can't see it being any different for boats.

  10. If there has to be wind then North is a good direction for Poole harbour as most if not all boats are on that side of the harbour Martin

  17. I have the same transducer as you and it works fine. Wherever you place the transducer you need clean (no bubbles) water. This means if a through hull keep away from hull strakes through hull fittings and the like. It also means no bubbles in the fibreglass so fix temporarily to see where it works best. Mine (through hull) works well up to the early 20's most of the time not so good if in rough water because of air under the hull. Works right up to 32 knots but not a good picture at that speed but still usable
  18. Hppy Birthday to you both have a great time Martin

  23. Ben not sure where you see negativity from any of the posts above or why you from either our club or it's members? It feels like you may have an issue with the club or membership, not sure why but I do wish you had spoke to one of us before leaving the post you held here. Martin
  24. I am not sure that is correct Martin I am sure in the past it was confirmed that fully ladening the car while towing, just to minimise the trailer weight would get you into trouble with the feds Your probably correct for overall train weight but to keep a rig (trailer/boat) below the weight necessary for trailer brakes I think you'll find it correct however best to check the relevant laws and not rely on us on the forum which is probably what Diver Dave posted Martin
  25. You can carry your kit in the car it then doesn't then count in the trailer/boat combo weight
