  1. Excellent news James All you need now is to find a nice new shiny piece of plastic to go with that nice new engine you won! Martin
  2. Bob Yep it does look like we have missed an opportunity Never mind bring your camera for when I win the Poole Sea Angling Centre Cod comp Martin
  3. Kam The electronics on maverick are. 1 VHF, 1CB, 1 GPS, 1 GPS plotter, 1, sounder, plus the usual lights etc, deck wash and pumped live bait wells. Using two 85ah batteries i have not yet had a problem even with the live bait pump working all day. To date I have never drained a battery so it wouldn

  5. When lowering your anchor if you have a turn or two around your anchor point (cleat or bollard) you will have some sort of control. Trying to lower an anchor by hand when the tide is going full bore is no fun as I have found out after many blisters. Its just a small thing but it makes life so much easier. Martin
  6. Kam Sorry to hear about your misadventure but glad you managed to deal with the situation and make it back safely. Our sport (fishing from small boats) is acknowledged as one of the most hazardous hobbies/pastimes to take part in. We all have had experiences we would rather forget, we mustn
  7. Paul To see if you can launch at mudeford you will have to check with Andy at the shop. Personally I would have thought the time you use motoring around to mudeford and then returning to poole for the weigh in (assuming you caught ought) would negate any percieved advantages Martin
  8. Kam Those of us that went on the recent sea survival course learnt that you can purchase personal flare packs that are very small and either come in or can be put in a waterproof container and kept on your person . This meens that if you were to go into the water you would have some way of attracting attention. You can also get water proof bags for handheld vhf's and phones Martin

  10. Found the words to the out of town theme: Say what you will The countryside is still The only place that I could settle down Troubles there are so much rarer Out of town Spring starts to spring Robins start to sing And Mother Nature wears her newest gown What I'd give once more to live right Out of town Up there the sun Is a big yellow duster Polishing a clear, blue sky With bright fluffy clouds in a cluster Hanging on the line to dry Spring starts to spring Robins start to sing And Mother Nature wears her newest gown What I'd give once more to live right Out of town Ah memories, they don't make them like that anymore (thank god say my kids) Martin
  11. 12. Well what a blowy and cold day. Not at all pleasant but we still managed a good turn out, I counted 11 club boats and 23 members fished. The fishing was very slow with most boats going up the Wareham channel (us included) to fish the mudflats of Holton Mere or thereabouts. We all have our little favoured spots (except me, never very successful with flounders) Any way in the morning not a lot happening with little chat on the radio, either they were keeping their cards close to their chest or it was exceptionally slow. With no bites on our boat in the first three hours we decided to make a move down the channel and found a mark near to Patchins point. The second run up started and it seemed as though a switch had been flicked and a few fish started to come aboard. We ended up with 4 flounders on Maverick, 3 small ones for Bob and I had one of 2lb. Dean couldn

That must prove at least that fish are not put off by it Martin
  15. Nice one Alun Whiting we caught on weds were also coughing up sprats. Could the lack of cod be because they are stuffed full of sprats and not hungry enough to eat squid that originates from california? Martin
  16. Sorry Alun Paul is the one with the correct answer. The Poole And District Sea Angling Association (a bigger mouthfull than pbsbac) is an association of several sea angling clubs which was formed to give a more powerful voice to local recreational sea angling clubs in our area. We (our club) are a member of that association and allowed 2 representatives to attend meetings. Paul J is our liason officer and has the job of attending the meetings on our behalf and feeding back any relevant info at our monthly meetings. I also attend cause I'm nosey and like a beer Martin

  19. Take a look at this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4072503.stm It sounds as if once again a sensible study has given good advice only to be ignored by the powers that be
