  1. I have found Windguru the best and easest to go by. http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php It has not let me down on the South or East coast. Coddy
  2. Hi Adam You have got me going regarding my prop size. Went out and checked the boat but no size was printed on the prop only a ref number 48 73136 A40 13P Did a serch on the web and found this site http://www.propline.com/Select-Boat-Props-...50_4_Stroke.htm It turns out to be a Mercury Black Max Aluminum 3 blade 10 3/8 Dia x 13 Pitch As mine is not the BigFoot model you have got me wondering now, 'What if I changed my prop' but the rev range on WOT is just under 6,000 rpm which is what the book says! Be interested in your prop size. I do not expect you to be able to swap props FOC once it has been used Regards Coddy

I was told about this site which looks good. http://www.sunshinesolar.co.uk/ Check out the battery charger at
  4. Hi Adam My boat/engine was second had but had only done approx 28hrs in 2.5yrs!! I have to say my engine has faster response now, 71hrs, than it did when I first got it so I would suggets that like a car engine it will take some time to run in properly. Can I suggest that you keep a record of hrs and miles used with the amount of fuel used each trip and we could then compare. I seem to have read somewhere that it should have a service after 25hrs but can I find that info? I would stick with the prop you have as the revs and speed seem the same as mine. I would agree that it does not 'jump' on the plane but builds gently but at 20kts it is sooo comfortable. Good to hear your back on the water Coddy
  5. Hi One of the regular contributors on the IAC (Internet Angling Club) forum purchased a new Explorer. His biggest complaint was the length of time in delivery. It was changed many times, if you want a chat with hime I will pass on his email address to you. Re David Steele, I purchased my Warrior 165, second hand, from him. He said to me that if I was not happy with the boat he would refund my money or find me another boat to my specification. I found him to be be honest and fair and when I had a poblem with the fish finder that came with the boat he offered me a replacement, with a small charge from me as it was brand new or
  6. Hi Adam Congratulations on the new motor Hope it performs to how you expect. Coddy

    Explorer Elite

Hi all Just look at the Seahog Preditor and tell me that was inspired from a thought http://www.seahog.co.uk/Predator.htm This model (mould) has now been bought by another company. Coddy
  8. Thanks guys The handbook does not explain this ............ I need all the explination I can get Coddy
  9. Hi Martin Not as yet, was due down this week-end but my son at university has had to move house so that came first The out-laws have not sold their house yet so we can not decide if to rent down there or up here. Down side of moving down now is that the wife and daughter have to find jobs quickly. Up side is we can look for suitable houses more easily. If we stay here or a while longer all have jobs but it is a pain to have to keep travelling down each week-end .......... spoils the fishing oppertunity WOuld still need to rent if we stayed here What to do .............. I think I will go fishing and bury my head in the sand Coddy
  10. Hi Subject to the house move I hope to join in as well. Well I better at least try to live up to my namesake Coddy
  11. Hi Paul I would be interested if it is cheap as I hate the pop-up's that come with free sites. Coddy
  12. Hi Adam I get about 26kts+ depending on sea state and tide. It does start to drink fuel flat out but back it off a little and it cruises superbly at 20kts. One question I do not know the answer too, is that there is a small rubber tube from the gear box but it has been blocked off. Why it is there and what it does I have no idea. I would be interested to know if your new motor has the same. Running in wont be too bad as its 1hr at half throttle or 3500 rpm max 2nd hr up to 4500 rpm next 8hrs avoid continuous full throttle for maore than 5 mins at a time Do you have an engine hour meter installed? I would suggest one if not, they are available on EBay at a resonable price. I always keep a log of the miles run and fuel used, it is easy on a spreadsheet, if you want a copy I will PM you mine. Regards Coddy
  13. Hi all Found this site and thought it might be helpful to know if you live in an area at risk for flooding http://216.31.193.171/asp/1_map.asp?name=e...LayerWasteOPRA= Coddy

    Explorer Elite

Hi Duncan There is already a report on the Elite by a guy in Plymouth but I would welcome another report (or 3) to get a balanced view. I am sure you will be more than pleased with her when you get her home. Thanks Martin for the plug for the site. I am sure some of the guys in the club have or had many bits of equipment of the years and I would welcome their thoughts on them both good and bad. Just PM a message on your thoughts and I will do the rest for you. Regards Coddy
  15. Hi Adam Well done in biting the bullet Are you are buying the same engine as mine? Mariner 60 EFI Bigfoot or standard? I would be interested to find out what size prop is supplied as many people have said mine looks too small but the revs peaks as per the book. It will also be interesting to find out how your boat performs aginst mine as BW was pulling away slightly when we went out together, perhaps it was due to the fact I hate boats slamming so I always slow down a bit. Good luck with the new engine Coddy

    cheap reels

Hi Sam I would recomend a Shakespear Neptune reel. They are small, light and seem to go on for years even when abused. Even if it does not work for you at this price you have not lost anything. I have the non level wind version and at
  17. Hi again Duncan How about this for a bargin ..... Warrior 165 http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/YBY188/ With a bit of TLC maybe it is worth a look Coddy
  18. Hi Adam Sorry to hear the bad news I am sure when you have recovered from the shock that there will be a motor just what you need at the right price. (At the moment any price is too much for me ) I will keep my ears and eyes open for you and pass on any info I find. Out of interest how many hours had it run? Also how long ago was it serviced/checked out by a marine engineer? Would you have any come back there? I expect not but it may be worth asking Coddy
  19. Hi Duncan I run a web page about small fishing boats at http://fishing_boats.tripod.com/ I am always trying to add to it by getting reports from users/owners of the boats or the equipment. (come on some of you PBSBAC members send me some reports please) Some of what is there may help you decide what you want. I only upgraded my boat in February this year so I know what you are going through. A lot depends on your budget. As Adam said David Steel at Ainsdale Boat Centre is a great guy and very helpful, in fact if you tell him what you want and your budget he will try to find the boat you want. Downside is he lives in the North West but of course the boat may be elsewhere. Good luck in your search and if you need help just ask Coddy
  20. Hi Mike Happy Birthday It is getting near the bus pass day Have a great day and keep those mad moments coming Coddy
  21. Hi I use to have a Hunter which is very similar to a Jeep. I found it a great boat, I had an Evenrude 40hp on the back and it went well, up on the plane at about 12kts or 8kts when I had a set of dole fins on the outboard. The only problem I found, which is the same for all semi-cathedral hulls, is when in a choppy sea going accross the troughs, the side hulls can dig in a bit and makes going straight a little more difficult. They also slam when wave hopping but you only need to slow down a bit. Like most boats when not on the plane they do use more fuel I prefer the looks of the Jeep over the Trooper as well. My thoughts Coddy
