I am on BT now called BTYahoo. Very small problems when we first started but it does get slow when all the kids are home from school! SPECIAL NOTE TO BTYAHOO USERS I have just found out that you need to check your BT spam blocker regularly as I and another person have found a number of emails from known people who have for some reason been thrown into the "Bulk" folder which if left will be deleted! Bit of a hassle but you have to train the blocker!! Hope it helps Coddy
  2. Hi all I sent a PM to Adam but if you are looking for flares check out Compass They have a web site at http://www.compass24.com/ as well as a catalouge which is sent to your home on a regular basis if you request one, and its FOC!! I have bought a number of bits from them and found them very good and quick. Coddy
  3. Thanks Charlie That's what I was trying to mean in my post but (as usual) I got it wrong I would not try it out on my own but would love to be the crew on someone elses boat Coddy

Interesting Adam I too am with Porthcawl at same price, good to know that I am not being ripped off on my own My no claims discount paid for the increase on premium! If you have attended and passed any RYA courses this can help in keeping the costs down. Coddy
  5. Hi Adam I did not see any fishing lights on your boat, do you use anything or was it light enough to see without anything? I have never tried night fishing but would love to give it a try so when (and if) the move ever happens can I twist your arm as crew one night to give it a try? It would have to be fairly calm for me on the first trip I think! Coddy
  6. Hi Newboy, Also, make sure you flush the motor with fresh water to prevent salt build up in the cooling system. Salt can often block the water outlet which stops the tell-tale or rooster showing. It's worth carrying something that you can poke in the hole to remove the salt if this happens.

Hi Malroy I run a web site for sea anglers boats and their equipment. the URL is http://fishing_boats.tripod.com/ I have a few chart plotter comments from user on there which might help you. I have got the Navman 5100 which is the black & white version which I find great, having never used one before. I am not sure if colour is worth all the extra money but size of the screen is everything. If I was choosing again and had the money I would go for a bigger screen as it goes make life easier when travelling over a bumpy sea! When I was up at the Boat show the best display for size, and colour, was the Raymarine RC435. http://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/ProductDetail.asp site=1&section=2&page=774&product_id=1717 Just take your bank manager with you however! Regards Coddy
  8. Hi all I would first of all like to thank Paul J for being brave enough to crew for me and meeting up with Adam, Rich and Maverick. What a nice bunch you are and very helpful, I am really pleased to have joined such a frendly club and I hope I can make it down to one of your meetings before too long. To the report. After launching we headed out following Blue Warrior toward Swanage bay for mackeral. It seemed that the fish knew from the start which boat to get to, to commit suicide as Adam seemed to just reel them in and in and in ......... Meanwhile Paul and I struggled to get some to begin with. We then went out to a Tope spot and after dropping the pick it seemed ages to get a grip but when it did boy what a tide was running through. We started with 1.5lb of lead to try to hold bottom, and after a while I reeled in only to find some fat pout stuck on the end of the hook! Down again to get doggie after doggie after doggie! Paul had a good bite and brought in a conger at about 15lb but he relaeased it at the side of the boat as it was rather angry! Paul then had a pout but no Tope so we thought we would try to drift for Tope but that didnot work either. So it was suggested to try for Bass back at the harbour entrance, tried at Old Harry's Rock but no luck, and again no bites in the harbour. Not a great fish day but I learnt a lot about the area and meet some great guys. Paul that trip trying all the creeks etc. in the harbour sounds great to me, will be in touch when I am next down. Thanks again for everything Coddy
  9. Hi all Sunday at 7am it is I am sure we will be able to find some shelter if needed!!! I have a fishing/rain cuddy so we will be all right as long as the boat faces the right direction Will someone remind me to fit the drain bung BEFORE launching as I have a habit of forgetting! Maverick you will be welcome on board if crew is a problem Coddy

  15. Hi Paul I should be ok to get to Baiter slip thanks If someone could get me some rag and sand eels I would be gratefull, I have penty of squid so I will bring some with me. What time would you all suggest to meet? I am coming from Morton so I expect it will take 1/2 to 2/3hr to get to the slip or am I being optomistic? I suppose I will need a lot of change for the parking meter It will be easy to spot me, I have a white Warrior 165 towed by a red Laguna. I am about 6ft 2ins and skinny, so my wife says I am looking forward to meeting some of you. Coddy
  16. Hi Sounding good What time to meet at the slip? What about bait? Coddy
  17. Hi all, Out of interest what would be the maximum wind strength you would go fishing from Poole? Looking on Windguru it seems it will be a Force 3 WSW wind on Saturday with wve heights upt to 2.3 mtrs Are we still on for Saturday if it is ok? Noticed Weymorth has higher wind strength of Force 4 Coddy

    Live Sandeels

Yes Adam "Sammy" is mine! I agree about the size of the live bait wells but I don't think I would allow the water to just drain into the boat! I use mine for storing normal bait, with a couple of ice packs it keeps it cool, downside is when the squid starts to defrost and I don't clean the boat down well enough ................ phewww!! With all you are putting on the boat it must be getting a bit crowded! I am looking forward to next week-end but wind strengh looks c****py! Cod

Hi Adam I would not connect anything to the boat bildge pump, leave this well alone in case you have any ptoblems with coming into the boat. This is a safety issue! As you suggest pump water in using something like a "Whale pump" which will suck up sea water from outside the boat and have an overflow outlet with a hose to over the side of the boat. Don't forget to fit a filter over the overflow to stop the eels escaping, use an old pair of stocking/tights to act as a filter. (where you get these from I wil not go into ) Why are you not using the fish wells fitted into the Warrior? Regards Coddy
  21. Hi Martin, I have checked tide times for Portland and it seems High Tide 8.45 - 9.27 am BST Low Tide 1.34 - 2.17 pm BST High Tide 9.14 - 9.45 pm BST Not sure about Poole I can make either harbour. As they say, "have car & boat will travel" I have a few marks for Weymouth area. Suppose it depends o weather, if Westerly wind (I think) you will get shelter from Portland. Again I don't know about Poole As you guys have the expertise can I suggest I leave it to you and deside nearer the time so we can see what the weather is doing I can PM my mobile number if needed I will be going down on Friday as I have a job in Dorchester Hospital so I will not be on line Friday night unless I can persude the outlaws to use thier PC on dial up Coddy ps I see I have gone to a Cod Hauler ..............
  22. Hi Guys & Gals I hope to be bring my boat down next week-end for a trip out on Saturday 3rd July weather permitting As my outlaws live near Morton, Dorchester I was thinking of going out from Weymouth or Poole. I have been out from Weymouth a couple of times but never Poole. Reason for the post is that as I understand you need to carry out a safety check but if I come down to Poole will someone be available? I will also be looking for crew and/or buddy up with another boat. I have charts and a chart plotter, GPS etc. but as new to area would like some experiance of the waters with me for safety reasons I know where the slip is but will not have time to get any bait, in fact I don't even know which tackle shop to use. I know only one shop near the town quay back street. Anyone have any thoughts or comments? Coddy
