Graham If what you mean is where the fuel filling pipe is connected try looking at the kit car fittings. You may have to use riv-nuts to fix the new fitting and I also used blue seal sealant on the gaskets to make sure it was fuel tight. Hope it helps Dave

Just to act as a reminder to everyone. Dave

Cheers all for the info I thought I had an old mini flywheel pulley somewhere but need to have a deeper look. Looking to borrow Jims puller if needed. Dave, not sure size of bolts but look about 6 or 8mm with 3 holes Will advise how I get on Dave

Hi all Has anyone a 3-leg pulley I can borrow as I need to remove the flywheel from my outboard. It is a Yamaha 40HP twin carb, old but works a treat. It would need to be fairly large to get the legs under the flywheel. I need to see where there is a break in the lighting coil as it is not charging and no output from the coil. :-( Many thanks Dave

Sorry to hear Nigel As posted on FB if there is anything I can do or help with just ask. Dave

Mike That info might come out of the 2012 fishing survey if people tell the truth. Dave

Gordon There has been a few threads on WSF of this engines on the 640 regarding props and if I recall most seem to go well on a 16" prop but not sure of the pitch. If stainless steel I think the 17" worked best but they had to tweak the pitch. So much depends on the amount of weight on the boat including people!. Dave

Hi all My three would be 1. Restrictions (to start with) of netting within a set minimum distance from the shore of 1 mile with a gap between nets of at least 1/2mile 2. All trawling within 6 miles from shore 3. No discards, all fish caught count as part of total quota (may mean no msl) I also have a copy of the Southern IFCA Bye-Laws and will post any useful info I can from it, you can read for yourself if you wish here http://www.southern-ifca.gov.uk/byelaws Just food for thought, I have been looking at the minimum retaining size for fish as published by the AT compared to DEFRA. http://anglingtrust.net/page.asp?section=163 In some cases it seems we use smaller size than DEFRA which does seem crazy i.e. Dab DEFRA min 23cm Dab AT min 20cm Flounder DEFRA min - 27cm Flounder AT - 25cm Perhaps the AT should up the minimum sizes to at least match DEFRA's minimum size or higher. Dave ps correction made to sizes

Hi all A friend of mine recently replaced a seacock fitting to his boat but before doing so he did a bit of investigating as to which he should buy and found this very interesting article. This is a report and findings of a flooding on a charter boat, Random Harvest out of Brighton in July 1999 but has some very good recommendations for all small boat owners. Those of you who have their boat out now or about to do so, I would suggest you give this article a good read and check your craft for possible failure and other suggestions for improvements. Link to article is here http://www.maib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cfm?f...m%20harvest.pdf Poole harbour and I suspect many other harbours where there are a few marinas with electricity supply available may well have similar issues with electrolytic corrosion. Dave

Sorry, Charlie you are correct I stand corrected Dave

Hi all At the last PDSAA meeting I meet Joise Pegg who is the researcher for the Sea Angling 2012 survey. She is doing this as part of her research degree at Southampton University and she does not work for any government department but will report back her finding to IFCA and others. This young lady will be covering the area covered by Southern IFCA and from March she will be out and about asking if you are willing to participate in this survey. If you are not just say so as it is purely voluntary. She is looking for a good cross section of anglers from "expert" to beginner local to holiday makers, male and female, old and young, able bodied or with a disability, in fact as many people across the population No names or contact details will be asked for or required unless you agree to be contacted again To give you an idea of the questions you will be asked: Your age group - under or over 16 Male or Female Do you live in the UK First part of your Post Code - ie BH, SO, DT etc If you are more than one in a party how many of you What type of fishing carried out - ie boat, shore or Kayak Target species if any Fishing method Miles from the coast How long did you fish for Was it a competition What fish caught Did you keep it, released as undersized, catch and release or other reasons How far did you travel for this trip Mode of transport to site How much boat fuel used in cost Harbour costs Fishing consumables used - costs Equipment brought ie rods, reels etc in cost value Meals/snacks - costs Accommodation cost per night Other costs Do you belong to a club How many times have you been sea angling in the last 3 months Have you been interviewed before I have been advised that this survey will continue for 12 months and then once all the data has been collected and put together it will be available for public viewing. There is a different survey being conducted on charter boats, of which I do not have any information about at the moment. The Angling Trust is fully behind this survey as it is the anglers opportunity to say how poor the fishing has become and how much money is spent by the recreational angler in pursuing his/her sport. I know we each have our own opinions about this survey and I do not intend this thread to develop into who thinks it is right or wrong but I thought I would try to inform you all of what to expect if you are asked. On a chauvinistic point Joise is quite attractive and very pleasant to talk to, so I suggest you don't vent your thoughts towards her if you meet. So if a pretty young lady comes up and asks if she can ask you some questions you will be prepared! Dave
