  1. Well, not having a brilliant day. Lost the anchor (again) in Freshwater bay (again). What p*ssed me off the most is that I did most thing right. The rope was bouyed, except it was white, not a chance in hell spotting it among all those white water today. So if anyone mad enough to go out in the next few days and see a white bouy with a complete anchor warp, I'd like it back please. Then we were hit by a monster swell, I guess we were about a foot of so from rolling over, scary isn't the word for it. On the way back in, couldn't go NWW, as the swell was coming in from due south, would have had more 'side-ons', so motored SSWbefore changing the heading to N to get pass the needles. Even when anchored in Alun Bay (?, the fairground bit). The boat wouldn't stop swinging from side to side, must had been 90 degree. Snag after snag, and resulted in one snapped rod.
  2. These swells just appeared from nowhere. One second it was lumpy nad next it was horrendous. Never been so scared in my life (on a boat anyway). Don't think we would stand a very good chance. There would have been no time for radio, phone, nor flares. All we could have hoped for was for Becky M to spot us going down, don't even really want to imagine the senario. Next time Metcheck forecast 3-4 or Onlineweather forecast 2-3, count me out, I'm staying home, it'd be bloody safer.
  3. And if by magic, one appeared today. http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/F52025/

    French Boom

Thank you Charlie, the jpg is excellent and very clear.
  5. Not planning to go out on x'mas day, are we?!
  6. Does the 500 has a sealed floor? I used to have a sheltie and from what I read from Shetland owners site, they all recommended to replace the floor on their shelties (single skin, not sealed), Reason being: 1) it strengthen the structure of the boat, 2) Hull is not the thickest on the market and a small hole below the waterline will have you in trouble in no time (with a sealed floor it acts as a second hull, the boat will seat lower in water but you can still get home). 3) to add bouyancy to the boat, as the they can be prone to a sudden swell and swamp the boat. Unfortunately their wasn't much info on the 500/600. I hope you have better luck than I had with the Shetland regarding getting info for the 500, because the company has been taken over (serveral times), they don't really have much knowledge about the older boats.

    French Boom

I know it probably sounds funny, but I haven't work out how to use a french boom yet. There's no hole to thread the line thru, so do we 'loop' it somehow?
  8. On most flat fish, one of the eye only move across the otherside when they go horizontal.
  9. Also they swim normal like other fishes when they are young, only move onto the horizontal position when they get to about 10p size.
  10. How did that 'r' get in there .......

  16. Planning to go out from Lymington on Tuesday but won't be able to get there till 10 and will have to be back on the slip by 3:00, got to pick the kids up from school. All sugject to the front coming in on Wednesday doesn't get here before that.
  17. Won't be able to take part afterall. I'd only just towed my boat back from Bursledon Outboard. All are well except I haven't got the time to re-stock the boat (I took EVERYTHING out), so probably be doing that on Sunday (most of it anyway). Good luck everyone. Make it the best man wins. Kam
  18. OK Rich, number pm to you. I'll leave that for you to sort out. His name is Pirout (?) he used to have a fish/lobster shop in Shirley Precinct.
  19. Thanks, exactly what I wanted. Carside is fine, all are connected, I only need to connect the 7-wire cable to the light clusters.
  20. My trailer comes with a detachable trailerboard but no wiring. I have now bought a trailer board 7-cable and 2 light clusters. However, I don't have a wiring diagram. Anyone know: 1) what colour wire goto which light? 2) what colour wire goto which pin?
  21. Yes, but price is around 70-80p (maybe higher now). Also worth asking for discount (the worst he can say is no) if you pre-order say 2-3 boxes (I think it's about 40lb to a box). He won't come to Andover for maybe 1-2 weeks now. However, he drives pass dorset and he lives in Southampton, I can give you (or whoever) his number and arrange for a drop off. Maybe arrange to meet up when he drops stuff off at a take away or restuarant near you?! He also have maccy, herrings and sometime sardine, around the
