The way I do it is generally: main line (tie to)-mono (with boom)-swivel with clip-trace/rig (for quick changing). I did a search on sea rigs and one of the website showed pictures/drawings of using swivels all the way thru, bit like the portland rig.

Isn't there something call radiator weld or something which 'plugs' small holes in radiators in cars? Or egg white, which Jeremy Clarkson used on his 928 in Top Gear ..... not suggestion you put egg in Phaeton tho.

Looking at the Navamn 5500 plotter. The difference between the internal and external antenna are about $100. Is it worth the extra dosh, or would the roof on my boat hinder the internal one receiving information?

That was Headington in Oxford. I was there (a very young Newboy ) when he put it up. If I remember right he owned the cinema and had a planning disagreement with the council, so he put the shark up in his roof as it required no planning permission, as a protest.
