If you don't get it in the boat, how can you weigh it?
  2. Never knew how they differ, is one stronger than the others? Do we use them differently?
  3. Legally, you NEED your vhf operator licence and then a boat radio licence before you can have a vhf on a boat. Legally, you are only to do no more than 30 mph in a 30 mph road....... Not advicing you what you must do next, just get do the course and then the boat licence, and enjoy the boat..... in whichever order...
  4. Anyone?

    Thanks Rich.

I know we used weak link on snaggy ground, so how weak do we go? 12lb on a 15lb set up? Or 12lb in 30lb?
  7. Isn't this sunday the monthly points comp?
  8. Would have been easier if it'd run out of oil, that thing can run without oil for 5 hours @ 2000 rev.
  9. It seems a common occurance that whoever crew on Maverick is not allowed to catch any decent fish.....
  10. Was that an Etec 75? If it is, I would like to know what performance it does. It was on my short list of outboards before I bought the tldi.
  11. Doesn't warrior do a smaller boat than the 165? A 150 maybe?! IS that light enough to go under 750kg boat +trailer?
  12. Very nice boat Mike, just let us know when and we will be at her maiden launch even if it's 2:30 am......
  13. Flipping 'eck James, you did has things planned to the dot!!! A lovely girl (may not be record weigh but into double figure ) and all doing so well. I know baby like to be in a moving car, how do they do in a moving boat? Think about it, babysit and fishing at the same time.
  14. Nice boat, very very nice boat, bet she's as sturdy as battleship. P.S is Mine sweeper her new name?
  15. Happy birthday chaps. Wishing you all a fruitful (or is it fishfull?) 12 months.

    "travellers"

Maybe a chance to get your hand on some very cheap marine equipments........
  17. You will also need a long piece of rope to 'rope' in the trailer when retrieving. Unless you have a couple of burly blokes to pull/puch the trailer + boat up the slip to the car. I personally don't like Baiter either, but it's the cheapest. Cobbs Quay is the most expensive
  18. Gordan and John caught both their pollocks on John's orangy browny worm.
  19. Thanks Charlie, I was wondering if I need to record small fish if I catch them (not likely I know ). Points taken on this type of fishing, but I suppose we have to adapt to each type of fishing, cos I would like to catch a BIG fish every time, but in order to do well in this competition tactics come in to it.

    Welcome Bobd

Welcome, just join we don't bite.....
  21. Is there a minimum catch size for the fish to be counted?
  22. Don't know, don't shop there very often now other than to get lobsters and crabs (big lobsters and crabs pools), their fish prices are dear, the other one round the back of the dock (Johnson?) is usually cheaper and is more willing to do a deal if I buy a fair bit.
  23. I once towed the boat and trailer back home, jumped up to unload the tackles and stuffs, half way thru it and I realised I didn't have to leap over the 2 hitch straps like I normally do....... then I realised I didn't strapped the boat down , the straps were still at the back of my car..... I can laugh now, don't think I would have laughed if the boat got bounced off the trailer.
  24. Just go to Viviers in Portsmouth, they have lots of dead crabs to get rids off every days.
  25. Martin, your Optimax is 2 strokes but it's a DI, direct injection. Fuel usage for DI engines is comparative with many 4 strokes on certain rev range. They will differ on different rev range. For example my TLDi is (just) more economical than a Mercury F90 at max wot and more economical than (even) a Mercury F50 at trolling speed, but uses about 20% more fuel than the F90 at 4000rev.
