  1. Decided I had to go fishing, so I phoned a mate to see if he fancied drowning a few worms. He arrived at my place at about 9:30 and off we went to launch at Cobbs. The original plan was to nip out for some Macherel then come back and pick up a mooring for a nice relaxing day. Well it was fairly foggy in the Harbour, so plan B, Stay in the harbour, we slowly made our way to "Derek's Plaice Mark", only to find him already there. As we were picking up a mooring about 40m from him we saw him pick up the landing net, he had caught a 3lb 10oz Plaice. Not to be outdone, 5 mins later John (my crew) asked for the landing net and after playing it for a bit on very light tackle boated a 6lb 3oz Plaice.

Hi Derek That's probably it now.

    Suzuki DF5

Chears Dave I intend popping down to see Luke at Yellow Penguin on Monday, but being like a kid with a new toy I was impatient. I've emailed Suzuki Customer Service to see if they'll supply a handbook as a pdf, they did for my DF70, so I could have a read before I got the engine.

    Suzuki DF5

I bought a Suzuki DF5 at the Boat Show today. Got it for a very good price as the Owners Handbook was missing. Has anyone got a handbook that I could borrow, so I can photocopy the important pages? Or at least tell me what oil to put in the crankcase.

    Jeaunnau Marlin 6

You need to talk to Tom Bettle, but he'll be at the Boat Show. Derek Taylor (Sea Sparkle) has a Jeaunnau Merry Fisher 580 which I expect is the same build quality etc. although not new. You could ask him. I've sent you a pm with his email address.
  6. I believe, if you contact the Harbour Master, they'll try to contact the owner (via the mooring numer or name). At least that was the case in the mid '70's.
  7. I'm going on the last Sunday.
  8. I think I should put my rods on Ebay!!! Or stop taking Thomas fishing! We had a couple of hours at Evening Hill. Thomas 1, Granddad 0. He caught a nice flounder.
  9. He's definately hooked on fishing, I'm taking him for a couple of hours on the beach this evening.
  10. My daughter and son-in-law asked Thomas where he caught the fish, all they could get out of him was "That's classified information". I think I'll have to enrol him in the club before long.
  11. I'm not surprised, Derek sometimes refers to it as his Bream Mark!!!!!
  12. "Derek's Mackerel Mark" and "Derek's Plaice Mark" are now in my Chartplotter!!!!
  13. At the beginning of the school holidays I promised to take Thomas, my 9 yr old grandson fishing. Well time flies and last Sunday he reminded me that it was back to school on Friday. He's fished on the beach with me several times and caught Wrasse, he also caught the first ever fish aboard MegaByte, an under size bass, but he's never caught something he could eat, so that was the challenge. The problem was I didn't feel I could take him out on MegaByte on my own, as I wouldn't be able to give him 100% attention. As luck would have it Derek (Sea Sparkle) came to the rescue, he wanted to go out on Thursday but didn't have crew, when I told Thomas we were going fishing on Derek's boat his reply was, "that's good, he catches fish on his". Thomas and I met Derek in the car park at Parkstone Bay Marina as we put everything on board the chap turned up to launch us. By the time we walked to the pontoon the boat was being lowered in, we took the lines and within minutes were underway (what a convenient way to go boating). As soon as we reached the North Channel, Derek let Thomas take the wheel and under Derek's supervision he took us out as far as Sandbanks, where Derek took over and we headed to "Derek's Mackerel Mark". It wasn't long before Thomas had his first Mackerel, ending up with about 14. It was then back into the harbour to "Derek's Plaice Mark", we picked up a buoy and all three of us started fishing, Derek said, "we won't get anything until about 12:45", at about 12:50 Thomas's rod started to twitch, five minutes later he landed his first Plaice. That was it for the rest of the day, Derek and I were outfished by a 9 year old. We were back in the marina, boat out, unloaded and cleaned by 15:00. Then home to cook the plaice for Thomas' tea. A very successfull day, to quote The 'A' Team, "I like it when a plan comes together". Thanks again Derek

  17. Alan Did you by any chance go to Lytchett Minster school (leaving in the mid 60's)? There was an Alan Brown in my class.
  18. Hello Alan, welcome to the club, I'm sure you will receive your joining pack soon.
  19. Might be worth asking at the place upstairs in the Dolphin Centre (next to the public toilets), if they can't do it, they'll probably know who can.

  22. Which are? I'm looking for an auxillary motor, so I'll keep my eyes open.
  23. I like the sound of that, i think I'll give it a try. I'm going to cut it like this, I think there's less likelyhood of it coming off.

    Radio check

Trev Where are you? More to the point, Where's your boat, I'm available most of the time (retired). But I haven't got any transport this week. My daughter and son-in-law have borrowed my vehicle for their holiday in Devon, as their car came home from Honiton on the back of an AA transporter today.
  25. Welcome Paul.
