    The builders.
  2. We're buying my son-in-law a new prop for Christmas. Where's the best place to buy one for a 50hp Evinrude? (it's a 50hp VRO, about 1991)

My grandson and two of his cousins built it, it was supposed to be a snowman, but the snow was so dry and powdery that they had trouble making anything. You're right about someone kicking it to pieces, a group of oldish teenagers thought it was funny to kick it. If my grandson builds another, I think I'll put a bit of RSJ up through the middle, just for support of course!!!
  4. The only trouble with a "hot sunny afternoon" is you can't get near the Quay.
  5. Happy Birthday Rob.

    Progress?

    If only it wasn't true
  7. Par for the course with a Council run project. They had no intention of making things easier, just wanted a piece of art for the Millenium, as Portsmouth's got the Spinnaker Tower. I think they should have built a fixed bridge, high enough for boats to go under. (Less maintenance, less staff required and less to go wrong). I'll now step down off my soapbox.
  8. I'll bet he cuts a nice path through the harbour.
  9. Thanks Martin. I've voted against it.
  10. I was obviously mistaken, I understood the No Anchor Zone in Studland bay to be much smaller, 100m x 100m. http://www.rya.org.uk/newsevents/news/Page...tudlandBay.aspx I had it as: North West corner = 50 38.664N 1 56.343W; North East corner = 50 38.664N 1 56.258W South West corner = 50 38.610N 1 56.343W; South East corner = 50 38.610N 1 56.258W

    Angle Iron

Dave When I needed some a few years ago, I went to Reliance Scrap Metal on Nuffield Estate.
  12. That's a question you should put to the Marina owner - ask for their stats on thefts. I suspect its not vastly different to others but I recently had my auxiliary lifted off the back of the boat from F pontoon. The pontoons are secured via access codes but anyone in a dinghy can paddle up the harbour and help themselves. I also think that the further from shore your berth - the more susceptible it is to light fingered types. If you do come to Cobbs I look forward to seeing you there perhaps. Was it covered by Cobbs insurance, or yours?
  13. I don't see how an "Intellegent switch" would solve it, as the problem is there when running on one battery. I assume the same fault occurs when switched to either battery. Connect one of the batteries direct, bypassing the Battery switch, I suspect it's a fault in the switch. I've had the same set up as you on my previous boats and never had any charging problems, I used to start on Bat1 run for awhile to put back what was drawn by starting and then switch to Both. When I stopped to fish, I'd switch to Bat2. Next trip out I'd start on Bat2, run on both and switch to Bat1 when stopped. This way both batteries got the same treatment.
  14. That shouldn't difficult.
  15. Welcome Stuie.
  16. You can tell it's windy, 10 posts about making a cup of coffee
  17. Thanks Rob, couldn't find it myself.
  18. I admit I don't fuss about, I make it in a jug, 5 heaped teaspoons coffee, 5 small teaspoons sugar, a little milk, top up with boiling water, into flask and fill with boiling water. (1 litre flask so about 5 cups). As I like my coffee very strong, there's not much milk in it and it tastes ok.
  19. I agree with that. I think the milk probably goes off a bit in the flask. Or drink it black.

No. But my crew certainly wouldn't be up to it.

    Monday

I'll be out on MegaByte and so will Derek on Sea Sparkle. We'll be somewhere in Poole Harbour searching for the flounders, probably up towards Wareham.
  22. Brian

    Oh what's wrong Dr

Gordon I've pinched that and used it as my status on Facebook.
  23. Did you catch anything, we had a couple of flounders there.

    In the river

I saw a Muslim fall into the river this morning and being a responsible citizen, I informed the emergency services. It's 6:00 PM and they still haven't responded ! I'm now starting to think I've wasted a stamp !
