Good luck with the sale Dave, it shouldn't hang about long.
  8. Toby They'll qualify for the Year Long Species Hunt, outside of club waters.
  9. It looks as though a Carport is the answer, except it would have to be fairly high. Although in Jim's case a greenhouse might be better!!!!!!!!!

  18. The plan at the moment is for Son-in-law Mark and myself to get out for a couple of hours Saturday evening, he fancies some mackerel, so we're going to take Thomas (10) and Tamzin (6), to show us how it's done.

You must have been quite close to us, didn't see you. I had always thought that a rising tide was best for plaice, but the last couple of years, Derek and I appear to have more luck at low tide, slack water.

Had a good day out today. Launched at Cobbs at about 10:15, a little later than planed, which meant we had red lights when we reached the bridge and had to wait for it to open at 10:30. Headed out towards Ballard and tried for some mackerel, without success, so motored across to Bmth Pier where we were into mackerel straight away, caught enough for tea and met up with Derek on Sea Sparkle. After lunch we headed back into the harbour and picked up a mooring close to Sea Sparkle. We sat back, relaxed and tried for a plaice, lots of nibbles but no real bites until low tide then I had a good bite which turned out to be a 1lb 4oz plaice. Not to be left out my crew (Gerry) followed about 20mins later with a 1lb 3oz plaice. Decided to call it a day at 15:15 as Gerry pulled in a 1lb 8oz flounder.

  23. Hi Stuie Did you get out today? I saw loads of nice fish, unfortunately it was in Bournemouth Oceanarium as I was looking after my granddaughter
  24. Hi Jamie I've just been talking to my next door neighbour, he used to have the same engine in a Cleopatra 23 which weighed about 2 tonnes. He had an Enfield leg (ratio 1.65:1) and with an 11" pitch prop used to get 15 kts. He works for Sabre Marine as a marine engine developer and said that it's very important to get 4,000 rpm at WOT, as the power curve on that engine drops of very sharply if the revs are down. After talking to him and using PropCalc, 75hp @ 4000rpm 1.3tonnes 1.89:1 reduction we reckon you should go for a 15" x 12" pitch. Which should give you approx 15 to 18kts. This prop would give you the option of having it adjusted to 11" pitch if required.
  25. Jamie Why not join the club, there's a wealth of knowledge and we're a friendly bunch. If you do you'll get a message from Jim to say you have to buy him beer and cakes. But I think he's had all the cake he needs
