    A Big One....

    Happy Birthday Adam.
  12. Out of interest what does Junior membership cost? Or, if I had family membership, would it cover my Grandson?
  13. Had a quick blast around the harbour this morning to clear the head after the Dinner Dance. The real reason for the trip was to test my son-in-laws engine. He had trouble last year with it not idling and stalling when put into gear, although it always started well. It's an Evinrude 50hp VRO, although I removed the VRO pump a while ago and fitted a normal fuel pump and mix the oil with the petrol. I removed, stripped and cleaned the carbs did a link and sync, but although it ran much better it still refused to idle. So I decided to check the thermostat and there was the problem, it had failed open so the engine was never reaching running temp. Fitted a new thermostat and took it for a run this morning. It started first turn of the key, after a couple of minutes the fast idle lever was in the normal running position and it was idling perfectly, it had never run so smoothly and quiet. So next thing was to go for a test run. Well it performed like a new boat, straight onto the plane and reaching 30 knots in a matter of seconds, it had never done more than 22 knots previously. So a very successful morning, he's a very happy person, it cleared my head and it's one job I can finally cross off.

    what boat

What's your location. I agree with the others, get trips on as many different boats as possible. If you can't arrange a suitable time to go out with Mike on his Warrior, you're welcome to come out on mine. I'm at Upton and launch at Cobbs Quay. It's a 2009 model with a Suzuki DF70. With the few extras I had fitted the complete package came out at

    Tommy Cooper Lives

I think you need to go fishing Dave.
  16. It's possible, three of us fished Evening Hill in October and a group of "Chinese" turned up, I didn't see any nets but maybe they waited for us to leave.
  17. I assume you've tried Yellow Penguin, Parkstone Bay.
  18. Graham Are you letting enough "anchor line" out after attaching the "lazy line". It sounds as though your lazy line is not being pulled tight. Your anchor line should be slack between the Loop where the lazy line attaches and the boat. When Mike did RNLI Sea Safety Check, I found it very interesting and picked up several usefull tipe and recommendations.
  19. Yellow Penguin look after my Suzuki for me and I'm very happy with them.
  20. Hi Dave Glad you got it sorted without having to spend a fortune.
  21. Charlie I wasn't having a pop at you, I'm just surprised there isn't a proper poster available with all the necessary info. There should also be some sort of sign along Holes Bay showing the minimum sizes. As I mentioned a while ago I saw a chap fishing there and he had a pile of bass (probably about 15) on the ground and the biggest was about 12" long. When I mentioned that they were all under the legal size, he claimed he didn't know there was such a thing.
  22. Understood. My point is, as Charlie suggested it should be displayed at Marinas and sliplays, I felt it was lacking vital information.
  23. Agreed but if these posters are going to be displayed, they should have all the information on them. i.e. Dates and minimum sizes. Otherwise a nursery area sounds a productive place to fish!!!!
  24. It's not very good, it just tells people that there is bass nursery area and where it is. No mention that it's illegal to catch bass in the nursery area between 30th April and 1st November, from any boat.
