  1. Hi Billy You can record anything you have caught and would like added to the book, as long as it was not caught on a charter boat and was caught in the Club area. Charlie
  2. Hi Newboy If you want the fish recorded in the book I will need to know your real name and the weight details of the fish, Send me a email if you are shy Nice fish Charlie
  3. Nice one Bob How big was It? And you only have to let the youngsters catch the biggest fish when they are your Kids. Not when its their boat!!!!! Glad you had a good day Charlie
  4. Hi Adam they are in the book. Glad you had a good day. Those big Smoothies go very well don't they Well done Charlie
  5. Looks like Dorset was fighting hard to me Yes I know it was fish really GW was there at the end of that day Well done guys. Time to have another go soon Charlie
  6. Nice fish adam on a good Day Sam and Daniel want to know when you are going to get a real one!!!!! Charlie
  7. I have not seen him but have heard from other that have. Hope he is not eating to many of the nursery bass. Charlie
  8. Bob /Adam that is why the record is now higher for the small eyed/Painted Ray. The old Small Eyed holder did not mind [Me ], records are there to be broken by better fish. Its nice to have good fish holding our records just makes them harder to beat. I am sure having to try harder will not put you off Adam Tight lines Charlie
  9. Saw Pete this afternoon they are not sure how it started, but it was not an accidental operation of a flare as some rumours are saying. It is all being cleared up by the staff of the various businesses so I am not sure if we could help. We at the Club have offered where we can but at the moment have not been asked. We have a small Force 4 Chandelery set up at the Club this weekend and Pete is helping on the Stalls. So if anyone wants a few things urgently then they may be able to help. If anyone had run up a tab with Pete or the other businesses now would be a good time to be forthcoming with the money. I am sure they would appreciate a bit of income and your honesty as there records are not all intact. I think it would be good if the Club wrote to them offering our support if they need it now and when they re-open. Martin if you do the letters I will deliver them. Charlie
  10. Hi All I have just checked the NFSA website under rules Sub Heading Festival and Competition rules It reads the Same for Shore or Boat Hooked Fish. The deliberate foul hooking of fish is not permitted; however, accidental foul hooked fish are allowed at the discretion of the Organisers, if specified before the start of the competition. In the event of fish being hooked by two or more competitors or caught on lost traces, they shall not be eligible for weighing in. This does not specify that they are hooked in any specific area, but it does state it is at the organisers discretion and should be specified before the comp. Do we need to sort this out prior to the next comp Martin and amend our fishing rules to specify? Charlie
  11. Bob nice to see that so many on the list are saying yes/yes there are several of the no's that are no longer Members, a very touchy point at the last meeting. But you may not have been updated on that one. Charlie
  12. Hi all I popped in this afternoon its a mess I feel very sorry for Pete and the rest of the businesses down there. Not only are they a good bunch but they have always supported our winter competition as sponsors. The access to the yard seems to have re-opened and I think that it will be back to work tomorrow. Diving shop and select marine seemed to be working today Charlie
  13. Will you lot stop arranging these trail aways look what you have done to the bloody weather. No fishing this evening Charlie
  14. 1/2 the main building gone including the office, up holsterers, chandlers, Yellow Penguin up to La artisan Not sure if the building will need to be closed or how long for Charlie
  15. Hon Fish-recorder I like the sound of that makes me feel very Grand. Under NFSA Rules I believe they would count as the fish was hooked, as opposed to tangled in the line. This was a matter of some discussion when I fished for the Navy and it was clarified that all fish hooked counted. As we fish under NFSA rules then they also count for us in the PBSBAC. Martin would you like me to check with the NFSA? Charlie
  16. The weather looks OK for tomorrow and family coimmitments look good for an evening trip Anyone like to join me at 1700 for a trip out, we will have to fish through the ebb as slack water not until about 2300. let me know I can take a couple of people. Rich I will try and call you Charlie
  17. Yes please Count GW as in like Martin I am unsure of crew or fishing times yet. IT IS THE FIRST OF THE COMPETITIONS THAT COUNT TOWARDS THE BFM SUMMER COMP. SO PLEASE ATTEND/COMPETE AND JOIN US AT THE PRIZEGIVING. Remember all you have to do is let the organisers know you are fishing that weekend and report your best fish. So even if you are not the keenest competition angler you might as well join in. the entry fee is minimal to the amount on offer Very tight lines Charlie
  18. I Thought that was whistler I saw coming down Gravel Hill this morning Welcome back Peter Tight lines Charlie
  19. Another Mackeral trick then Rich??? At the end of Thursdays trip a buket full of mackeral finished up in the Marina, Rich salvaged 6 [out of a couple of dozen] but not the old bucket. : There went the frozen bait for the next trip Charlie
  20. This one [19lb] came on the uptider just as the tide had started to relly flood in 42metres of water off anvil point hell of a struggle to get in but it swam away ok Charlie
  21. Nice to join you out there at the end of the day Adam Shame that we were an hour late and missed Slack. but nothing could be done about that. Thanks for the mackerel to get us started. Sods Law that as soon as we had baits down and put feathers over we caught plenty. We had a few tope to about 15lb and lost plenty more, they were biting a bit shy at times, but we also had 3 rods going at once which is fun when there is only 2 anglers The 42mtr hole we were fishing in had some nasty sharp bits in it and we lost several good fish when the line parted just after setting the hook or on the strike. The leader or the braid came in very frayed, I was getting fed up with it by the end. more for the thought of fish being left trailing the traces than losing the gear and the chance to play the fish. I have a day off today so was thinking of staying out, but as Rich is working and the tide was still running hard at 2330 we called it a night. By then we had lost all the 2lb leads due to the sharp bottom. I had a nice Blonde Ray of 19lb on my uptider just after you left as the tide was getting going. It was hell to get to the boat in the tide, but went back OK after photo's. [The uptider went away after that one] A good mark, I think a few eels would have come out at Slack Water in the dark. I expect we may see you out there again before to long. Tight lines Charlie
  22. Well it wasn't him Charlie
  23. Float fishing is the method for Blue sharks in the west country but we tend to get our tope near the bottom so you would need to fish deep. Go a few miles further west than the grounds and drift. in the deep water with the gear on or just above the seabed Charlie
  24. I may be out with Wendy on Sunday as at least 1 of the kids is away. let me know where you are going and we may join you. I will not be getting in the Ringo, the last I saw the water temp was 11 degrees. I am decorating late nights this week in the hope of an evening trip on Thursday. Anyone available who fancys a short trip? we may be able to join Tara/Blue Warrior if she is staying late It depends on weather and how the painting goes as the carpet is being fitted Tue and I had better be ready, or her indoors will stop my privilages. Charlie
  25. True the Silver Eels do work They swear by them up in the Thames estuary, Where it is shallow and Muddy, so you can see why. A very good friend of mine Spike Spears of Bessie Vee out of Pompey has several good anglers from that part of the world who insist on using them. but he still says he catches more on fresh mackeral. use what you can get fresh is a good plan. and LSD do not tend to take heads or live mackeral. Bait was so short on sunday I nearly used LSD fillets as hook bait. Charlie
