The forecast looks better for tomorrow. So I hope they get a great last day. Such a shame after all the planning and anticipation that the weather spoils 2 days out of 4. Have a safe trip back Charlie
-
I will call Gary tonight and see if he has a photo/report Charlie How do I add a new Thread? or is that another word for a new forum topic? Charlie
-
Thanks for the update Bob Charlie

Hi Colin, Glad to see that you found a few fish on Sunday. Not the monsters that you hoped for but better than we did. Tonights evenoing trip has had to be postponed due to the weather but I will try again. Charlie

A SW in Alderney should allow the boats to shelter behind the island providing they can get in/out of Braye Harbour safely ,SW not a good direction for that. While that may not be the place they would chose to fish at least they would be out. We are all eagerly awaiting news Charlie
-
ITS OFF we can try again another evening. I hope the boys in Alderney have a better forecast Charlie
-
Hi Bob , Billy I will check the weather later and call you. I believe the forcast is bvad for Tue but we will see. Charlie

Happy birthday Coddy and Billy I should have filled in the details correctly as itwas also my birthday on the 1st. hope you both had a great day I did Charlie

Hi Bob Perhaps we ought to transfer these posts to another part of the forum, as its not really now about tackle. I am a fan of smoothounds but have not caught that many locally, best on GW 9.5 lb [ Sam insists that I tel you he caught it] I have had some much bigger ones at Selsey. which would be a good venue for a early summer trail away. Perhaps someone may give us a hotspot to try. Charlie

Hi Billy I have tanked Hermits in the past but they are violent little buggers and tear each other to bits, so they are better kept in a sack in the sea. I should not have a problem with that at work Bob/Billy that sounds good. An evening trip on GW always sounds good we could try the patch/ballard/Slates for bream/smoothy's. Have to check the family calender for the best night, I will post again soon or speak tomorrow night. Room for one more Charlie

Boybilly Can you still get live hermits in the tackle shops at Weymouth? If you can, they are the best bait [bar peelers] for smoothounds. I would be interested in getting hold of some to try them off Poole some time. So can you check the supply, WAC used to sell them before it changed hands. Perhaps you could come out one evening on my boat and we can try them. I am sure that another Member or two would join us. Anyone interested?? Charlie

From experiance at work,It depends on the use of battery's, how big the boat is and how much weight you want to add to the boat. Most yachts carry two types 1, A high torque starting battery, used mainly to start the engine, charged from the engine when running/ trickle charged when not in constant use by solar panel or shore power. these batterys do not like to be run down to low, as it can damage them internally. 2. One or two large capacity liesure batteries, used to run all other systems. remember that yachts are not usually under engine power for long periods, but still have electronics and electrical system to keep going. these batteries can be run down much lower between charges without damage. but can stand the odd emergancy engine start if required. They can be charged via engine , wind genny, solar panel or shore supply. as stated above a 1, 2 or both type switch is very usefull. I personally have one of each and individual isolating switches from each battery and another isolator used to cross connect. I also have a split charge relay fitted that sends 70% of the charge to the battery that is drawing the most power [Liesure battery] I hope that helps Charlie

My day was very Poor Nice to be out on the boat again, all new toys 100% But No Fish [well 1 pout] and constant hard rain, gave me two moaning kids At 1300 I could take no more moaning and went home. The first time in years I have packed up early while the weather was good enough to fish. I may ask if anyone want to join me next time and leave the kids behind with their mum. Still there is always next time Charlie

Hi Adam I think you should talk to the repair agent and agree how to proceed testing at home in a barrel will not cure it. As Mike says the problem could be a worn casing as well as the old impellor. If the boat was run up and down Langstone Harbour a lot the silt may have got in and erroded the casing/ blocked the waterways. But it could still be the connecting pipework. Charlie
-
Be careful of that one Adam The fact that it doesn't come on with the muffs is down to a pressurised supply with the muffs on and a feed of cold water.I expect if you ran in a tank it would come on. It could be a problem inside the leg on the tube between the water pump casing and the block. Something as simple as a twisted seal can allow water to leak out and pressure to drop at idle speeds. which could give you your problem. Ask the service agent who changed your impellor as the box would have to come off to check. Charlie

I have spoken to a few Members all seem Keen so yes we are on. I will be out with the boys by 0900 so see you tomorrow. Tight lines Charlie

Being a little fussy are we!!! Still if you are doing a job might as well get it right. The chap at Haywood technical Dee Way has a mobile kit. I have his number at work If you want it call me on Monday. When I fitted my new plotter ariel, I removed an old one as it looked a bit to fussy having three and only using 2. The plate was clamped to a SS upright, you are welcome to make use of it while you await modifications if you wish. Charlie

Nice fish Adam, shame you were not on your new boat Its in the book If you speak to Mark get him to report his best fish Tight Lines Charlie

Toomer and Hayter usually have a stand at the shows Paul. I got a good deal at last summers Canford Arena site at the end of the day. But check the condition carfully and the fixing arrangements. Charlie

Well done all, I have only just added the last haul, but please send through those that you want added to the book. It looks like you are getting the hang of the shambles Beats the hell out of the busy day I had today, but at least the boat is afloat ready for the weekend. Charlie

After all the hard work I hope the weather is good for Sunday, we can not bring the comp forward to Sat. But we can postpone to another date if the wether is to bad and it would be unsafe to launch boats or fish. Incidently this is the first of our 5 species hunts. But it is not a Suzuki comp. They are the next three species hunts and the 48hr comp. if my memory of the AGM is correct. Charlie
