Urgent Call For Volunteer Boats for The Junior Competition
great white replied to Greg's topic in Competition Talk
As the August date get closer and family plans firm up I will get in touch. Sam and Jayden will be the first to know if Alfresco becomes available. -
What reel is it Kev? On our holidays the fish like the lures to be moving quickly. But the reels need to be tough
-
Sounds like a great trip Well done all, especially Fred for his offer in the first place. Now where was that shark?? I have two lads that would love another encounter with one.
-
Great news Tony Just in time for the arrival of Mackerel in the bay and some beasties that like them for dinner. get a couple of trips in before Torquay

Hi Mal Found it easier and quicker to put the waypoints into the PC software for my lowrance (mapcreate6 came with it) Then save to SD card and load from that to the plotter. I think you can download the software free from the lowrance site
-
Agree 100% with Jim Well done all concerned and tight lines if it is the fishing trip option.

Thanks Dave That is good to know mate. My bigger holiday fixed spools are Fin Nor Offshore spins and the latest is a Quantum Cabot 5000

Great Idea and offer Fred. My bid £150.00

Sorry to hear that mate But a Diesel will not run without decent injectors,. I hope that they can source them for you , at least fitting is not that hard.

Hi mike sounds like a busy weekend Not sure that pumping out oily bilges at sea is a correct process, although I expect you had some form of biodegradable agent added to it

Thanks to some great assistance from Dan, Alfresco is now back on her mooring. It took a few hours and a bit of hard work, but apart from some parts and a lift out the cost could have been worse. The problem experianced on the return leg from Alderney turned out to be a split trim tilt hose on the DPH drive. Boat out and leg off revealed the problem When we made the boat, fishing space was a priority. Which makes service space an exact minimum on the instalation instructions. This means that a few engine parts have to come off to gain access, to the inside of the transom shield. For some reason Volvo make the pipes very hard to get out, but we came up with a plan that worked a treat. No point in only changing one hose so best part of £200 to Poole Marine Service for a new pair and rebuild started. A couple of evenings after work, new bits fitted and tested. All of the engine ancilleries removed for access go back on, leg and props back on and at 10 this morning she goes back in. I could add all of the tool sizes and short cuts for anyone who has a volvo D6 or D4 on a DPH drive and needs this job done. But the only shortcut advice that you really need is, call Dan Not sure that you will get dad rates though

I think that you (or an engineer) need to start eliminating the simple things. Fuel starvation Tests like Rob described would certainly eliminate pipe or tank issues, adding an outboard tank bulb can see if it an LP fuel issue. Great whites lift pump had a tiny gauze filter, even partially blocked this would cause a loss of power Loss of turbo air pressure etc Navy diesel RIBs had a flexible pipe to the turbo air supply, just tightening the jubilee clips could return some power. Before going further down the route of expensive fuel pump and turbo repairs

Just add the ones you need, if you want to add another later it is simply take the terminator off, put the new plug in then replace the terminator. Very simple system
-
Nice to have you back Fred Great report mate
-
With only a few boats available, is this enough?
-
We are out I am away , the boys were thinking of using boat but a hose has blown on the trim tilt for the drive leg
-
I use both in my two plotters , to be honest the navionics gold is much closer to the look of a paper chart I do not have AIS so can not comment
-
Well done Mal Own boat to Alderney later this year or next?

Great trip In excellent company and very fishable /safe weather Sorry for the lack of active reports, but vodaphone was playing up. Nice to see some familiar faces on the Island, all of which looked after us well. Michael in the chandlers got his reward from Chris on Kingfisher for the excellent fuel discount, Mark in the shop did some serious trade, the new position is far to convenient to avoid a stop at each morning. and Victoria on the Taxi looked after Dan and Craig on the late run back to the boats. Fishing report will follow Great to be back after two years missed. And great to see friends from the Club again, especially captain hook

Good luck Fred Give them hell Be interesting to read the report to see what tackle and lures you get to use.

Keeping an eye on the forecasts Was thinking of an early start but I still need to make an exact plan
