Name or Home address on an (almost) empty boat - probably equals boaty bits at home! everything else a bonus! Has anyone else got paperwork on their boat with personal details -I know I have on the new boat. Bill of sale etc for travelling across the channel - not any more I haven't! I'm sure me being away was coincidence - anyway I would most likely not have heard anything anyway- Bloody dog didn't. I would hate to think that someone I knew was responsible for this - not even going there. Neal

The Police came around to investigate and something that was said about being targeted specifically for the boat / fishing gear made me wonder! I have an old fishing boat - an Islander 21 - which is stored at my mates farm in Wareham. Well it's not there anymore! He has been away for a few weeks and it's gone! He thought I had brought it back home to complete it's annual spruce up - but I hadn't. It has lived out there over the last 6 or 7 years quite happily, is on a hard standing and out of sight. However, a lot of building works have been going on nearby lately. I suspect I may have left some old manuals / papers etc which may have my home address written on them - funny how the boat keys were also taken from my garage. Just not my weekend! Bugger again!!!

Look for all the other boats - may be enough of a clue! the small tides will mean that they will mostly be targeting the Plaice - not the Turbot. Neal

Nothing else appears to be missing - all my rods are indoors - glad they were! Other odds and sods in the box - but not much else. Bugger Bugger bugger!!! I hope the insurance does cover them - not like last time, when I was using the rod and reel and it went over the side! and found I wasn't covered! Just discovered some electric Power Tools missing............. DeWalt Electric Plane 240V Bosch cordless drill getting worse by the minute!! Plus the Yamaha 4hp outboard motor I think I had better stop looking - I am getting more depressed by the minute. Neal

Just discovered some electric Power Tools missing............. DeWalt Electric Plane 240V Bosch cordless drill getting worse by the minute!! Summary of Poole Harbour fish regulations
Neal replied to Maverick Martin's topic in Conservation Issues
He was 'caught' while skippering Pat Carling's Channel Chiefton a few years ago. I think the judgement hasn't been made yet. It is ridiculouse (to me and all small boat anglers) that Charter boats with recreational anglers on board should incur the same restrictions as the 12m trawler fleet! He went to Court last month and the verdict is supposed to follow in due course! Regular updates and information regarding this case are posted on the Deepsea website. A question was raised to our "guest" last meeting - but he was unwilling to comment as the Court Case was still pending and he / they are responsible for enforcing the bye-law. Lets hope common sense prevails........however the Law and common sense are rarely applied together. Neal -
Try the Canford Arena Boat Jumble on 26th March Many a bargain to be had!

I will be fishing One of these days I may even catch a flounder - but I won't be holding my breath!! Room for 1 or 2 more if anyone else want to join in - but you must book in at the shop today or you can't fish it. Neal

Just noticed this on Mark Hardings website........ Was everyone already aware of this? If you are traveling to the islands, or indeed from the islands to the UK you need to be aware of the following as regards healthcare. From today the reciprocal health agreement between the UK and the Channel Islands will be dissolved This means that all visitors from the 1st April 09 will need to be covered by travel insurance. I definately will not go out again in the conditions that we had last wednesday. It isn't worth it! I may consider myself relatively safe - but it is the unexpected that will catch you out. I did not see or hear Coutance until she was right on top of me - not an experience I wish to repeat. I was not aware of any fog horns sounding - other than the Sandbanks Ferry. Neal

Try Loch Fyne at Canford Cliffs Good food - reasonable - high, prices - depending on what you have! Neal

I went out as well - having found getting out and back in ok for the Cod comp, I didn't think it would be any worse. It was!!! - I managed to get down to the ferry with only 1 minor circular detour / temporary disorientated! As Colin said - you couldn't see the Ferry until you were about 30 meters away - Got out alright, but fishing was really slow. Sea really flat - didn't see anyone all day, but heard the odd boat moving about in the distance. Coming back in the fog closed in again - decided to get in before it got dark. Crept up to the ferry again and managed to find it with its flashing light and crept past. Went round past Brownsea Castle - Crew now ready on Port and Starboard watch - Suddenly we met Coutance! Bugger me it's BIG when its above you! - biggest brown trouser moment I have experienced on a boat. You couldn't see it untill it was right on top of you - not only that it was silent! My understanding of vessels that size, was that they should have been sounding their horn every couple of minutes at it moved through the harbour. The Pilot was following along behind -m I would have thought that it should have been leading. That will be the very last time I venture out in the fog!! absolutely definately - never again, Radar or anything else included. Neal

My Policy said UK Waters and Channel Islands. It was when I pointed out that in order to get to the Channel Islands I would need to go out more than 12 miles that they included it within my Policy for no extra charge! Neal
