well done again you two. I was going to get out myself, but i thought it was going to be to bumpy. I now wish i had have gone.
-
well i will also be watching the wed window, but at the moment, wind guru is still predicting more than i want 2 be out in.
-
Paul, How was the bridge? i always get nervous approaching it....
-
al, i havnt had a problem t-bar-ing eels off without using a leader. i just grab the mono trace..................but that may be easier for me because my boat only sits just above the waterline so the trace is easy to reach.
-
in my last catch report from last week, i remember writing about how i got cut off by a decent fish whilst out on the ledge. I had no leader but that was the first time i had been ever been cut off.
-
well, i agree with Andy. Heavy ground yes, light smooth ground, no.
-
well done mate. I must get myself a few marks out there myself (pm anyone...lol)....... Anyway, it's a great result, especially on the cod. A few have already been landed so far, so i recon its going to be a good winter Hopefully the next cod landed on a club boat will be a 20lb fish

Belated birthday wishes terry. I hope you had a great day.

thanks for the company Dave P. It was a shame the weather turned and the fishing was poor, but on another day we could had a hat full, but thats fishing! For the record, we fished the ledge and struggled after a 7am launch. I had a single huss, whilst Dave had a single LSD, and a few pout and wrass on baited feathers. The only 2 decent hits, came to my rods, the first fish was a decent lump, lost in mid water on a monstor cuttle, whilst the 2nd fish hammered the rod over and after a brief moment, managed to cut me off as the braid touched a rock (longer leader next time!). The weather soon turned and the water lumped up so we headed in about 10.45am with the boat weighing much lighter after i spent more time donating my gear to the rocks below Dan

OK Dave. See you in the morning............. We now need to see if we can get some squid....
-
hmm..there looks like a window 2moz, well, enough for a few hours in the morning at least. If i decide to get out, i will be looking for crew. I can supply fuel, if someone provides the bait. I would prefer lepe, but a biggish tide and i will prob drag anchore, so it may be to the ledge. (after cod) I am just putting out the feelers to see if there is any early interest....If not, i will spend the day on the river looking for barbel

weather depending (and if my new winch arrives before then) i may also be out on Friday looking cod. If its iffy, then i will give it a miss as i dont fancy playing close in looking for little ones.......

nice one mate. Was there much weed about? I would have thought most would have gone by now, but i know there was plenty still in the solent 2 weeks back.

Yes, T, i was batting on the other side mate. I launched at Keyhaven as i has an slip pass there, and its only a 10 min blast to the island. It was a last minute decision really ad the plan was to head out on what i suspect to be similar grounds to where you were. I found a bit of lazy swell out there and near the shingles, even though the water was mirror like, i ended up surfing some swell beam on. Not nice at 22 knots! I couldn't believe the size of the breakers though. Fully 8ft high, and more than a mile from shore. The line was a couple of hundred meeters long, and i was like, "oh $hlte, theres a Tsunami . It looked just like one!

well done that man! Proper tackle there mate! Thats real angling! It was lovely out there yesterday wasn't it?

Alun, We could have as many whiting as we wanted (but i gave up after an hour as i dont get a kick out of whiting bashing). We had plenty of fish around the 2lb mark (comming up with double and treble shots). Baited feathers with launce was the killer. Suprisingly though, we never had a single pout! Another strange thing was the cod came up with a doggie on the same pennel. I have had plenty of double shots of dogs on a pennel, but a cod and dog was a first.

after a nice lay in, i headed out to the needles at about 10.30am, complete with my dad and a work mate as crew. Everything was mirror calm, except monstor breakers on the shingles. Possible 8ft high and they could be seen from miles. Anyway, over the bridge and out towards the carpark to join 20 others boats packed into a tight area! Anyway, to cut a long story short, the fishing was pretty tough, and with no tide running we were always going to be scratching for a bite or two. In the end, we done ok, with plenty of whiting, a few doggies, half a dozen rays (spotties and thornies) and a nice eating size cod (small, but its my first needles cod of the winter!). I gutted the cod at sea, opened her up and split the 'bag' just to see what she had been eating and there was a few hardbacks, a hermit, and a bloody mars bar wrapper! A new cod bait? Anyway, glorious conditions, mirror calm water all day and pretty good fun (except the winch cable busting under load whilst getting the boat on the trailer (it can't all go to plan)! Danny p.s Check the sea state in pic! Lovely!

where u plan on heading to Trev? I hate it when i can't decide. I have about 5 options, and cant make up my mind

Gorden, im out on Thursday, but all crewed up (3 of us on board). I origionally fancied xray, with ray and cod on the target also, but i may change plan and try the dolphin sands, or i could get out the back of the light house if its ok (but i still get nervous crossing the bridge.lol) Are you on the banks in the bay, or going south of the island? I was thinking of a later start as i think it may be a flatening off as the day goes on. I could meet u up and buddy up depending on where your going. Danny

alright matey.......im suprised you havn't had anything from mudeford quay. the boys there have had plenty of decent bass on lives and peelers. Also, hurst had had a real good season with plenty of rays (in daytime aswel) comming out. Parkshore, around the s***ge* has thrown up more than 50 stingers (averaging 2 to 3 fish a night) to a mate of mine during the summer, so thers plenty to target. If you can understand the coding, you may know where i mean Anyway, im sure your luck will be back with you when you get the boat back out. You always had a knack of getting something decent when others were struggling

well, there is a window........i could be tempted if i can fix the winch on my trailer winch. If it holds and i sort the problem, i may be tempted for a few hours on the cod grounds....... crew maybe needed.

i am working, but i think Dom will be out on DatDamBoat with my dad as crew.
