  1. I may also be looking at a price to replace mine as it is pretty knackered and bent after getting caught on the lip of the slip at muddeford whilst roping it out. I was very impressed with trailer tek and would highly reccomend them. (thanks for suggesting them Rob and also thanks to Gorden for an alternative option when i was after a pair of suspension units). They offered free delivery for purchass over
  2. Alun, It may be worth targeting those jumbo pout for the comp as there easy to catch and a biggie would give you a chance on the prize table. Danny T

    hi all

Hi mate, Welcome to the club. Yer, thats my old boat 'Peachy' and i haven't seen that pic in ages. Its actually moored on a northern canal now and not being used as a fishing boat. If you come down, good luck in the comp. Danny T
  4. Ive also seen it Charlie and its John Wilson aboard the RIB
  5. Steve, the small baited hook below the larger one is the usual way to do it when fishing like this but its worth trialing Charlies way, just to see what works best for you. Remember though, that the longer the 'hair' the longer the snood needs to be and the shorter the hair, the shorter the snood, etc. This will help maximise the hooking properties of the rig. It's just the same as carp fishing really. But.... with the amout of cod getting caught on squid, i wouldn't see the point of changing as more fish have been landed in the 1st couple of weeks of the season so far than pretty much the whole of last winter. Fishing a live may be a good option when they start feeding hard on sprats though.

    trailer

I have had a chap look at my boat trailer as i have been trying to work out why the bearings keep seen to be disintergrating. He has told me that the stub axel (?) is knackered and needs re-placing. Does anyone know where i can get these from? Are they expensive?, easy to replace? The trailer is pretty old and needs a bit of work, but i fancy repairing it as i can't afford a new one yet. Luckily, i may have a winter pontoon mooring at Lymington yacht club, so at least i may still be able to get out.
  7. im guessing big squid or cuttle baits will sort them out Daz, but the mans an expert and he always has a few extra tips up his sleeve to help wrangle out a few when others blank

    Day 1

way 2 go james! What a cracking brace! There certainly a few getting caught at the mo! I planned to fish 2day, only 2 find my trailer's totally bu99ered yesterday whilst loading the boat, so i was landbound on my day off! I look forward 2 the pics.
  9. Thats what we like to see. Top angling mate! I may be out Mon if i can get crew sorted, so may see a few of you out there, but will prob opt for the ledge rather than the carpark! Danny P.S, i've now got over my silly girly hissy fit and the break from the forum has done me good and re-charged the batteries, so hopefully i'l be back posting again !

  13. well, still a tad bit bigger than my 4/0 conger hooks , but i got what your saying anyhow.
  14. isn't a 16/0 a bit on the large size? My gaff has a smaller hook!
  15. Happy Birthday you old chocolate stabber Seriously, have a top day Rich, and many happy returns Danny T
  16. Ive just back from a few hours out on the tackle graveyard. Bites from the off with Dom loosing a very decent bass at the net on a lively. Just as we hit dark, the tips don't seem to stop bouncing, so we end up fishing one rod each just to make it easier to relax. First fish was to me, a decent scrap and a nice conger is aboard, before the huss take over and we manage a dozen in 2 hours, with a couple of lost fish aswel. Most were decent fish with not a LSD in sight Dan
  17. thats they way mate. Cracking fish. I'l be out after them tonight, hoping to repeat your sucsess. I'm positive we will get a few tonight as the conditions will be spot on.

  19. I can't make fri (my bday, getting old, will be 28!), nor can i make the Sunday comp as i'm out at footy, but i will be out Sat eve/nte, starting for a bass, then moving across to the ledge mark for an eel or 4. If any one else wants to buddy, let me know.

sounds like a decent day mate. When you get some extra cash together, try using a lighter rod for the smaller rays. A 12lb class with something like 20lb braid would be even better. Although a 30lb class rod will be ok, it is better suited to cod/ conger/ blondes, etc. Top angling mate, well done
  24. Sorry, Sunday is Football day, both me and Dom will have to give it a miss.
