Dom, I knew they were there the phone has been busy today with angling journalists from the mail and times calling and trying to get a story. I still hushed up most of the info though. Its the biggest UK river Chub of the season and they think a better specimen than the british record as that was from a stillwater!!

As many of you know, Specimen Course angling is my main passion, and 5.30am this morning i was pulling myself out of my flea pit to tackle the Dorset Stour (not throop fishery!). It was pi$$ing down, wind howling, but i still made my morning trip anyway. I know most of you arn't slightly interested, but im writing this as i know some you have a keen coarse fishing interest. Anyway, fishing a bait in an unlikly area, i find myself lucky enough to land one of the rivers wackers!!!!!!!!! A chub of 8lb 4oz!!!!!!!!! I have sworn a mate that I wouldnt put the area and bait in print, but there should be a decent write up in the mags in the next few weeks, with some good pics!!!! I will try and include a pic on here if i can work out how my new p.c can add one. Dan p.s- I left my phone on the car roof on the way home and the things fell off sometime during the journey home, so if anyone tries to contact me on it, you will get nowhere!!!!

a small green trolley jack handle does the job perfect. Thats what i use anyway as its small but with plenty of clout.

is there any species that feed all year round? When will the conger dissapear off the ledge? Can they be taken off the inshore wrecks all year? Will Wrass and Doggies still be available feb-may? Just thinking ahead as Jan looks grim
