Rich, we thought along the same lines. The idea we discussed was that only one fish was to be entered by each angler, by having a digital picture that included the fish being measured and the pic would also include the signing in card. The longest fish would win. He has healthy support from the local charter anglers and im sure whatever he does will be a sucsess.

I went with Gary Mann (manager Lonis AC)to the meeting, but it was very busy, and time to discuss a comp was hard. He isnt looking to use this site to promote the comp in any form, but hes interested in Bass, and if a comp was to go ahead, he would like ideas of how to run it without culling lots of fish. If it stops the culling then i would of thought most would be open to suggesting ideas to help him. Any more ideas please? I know there is some useful info already, but the more ideas the better. Maybe we could tag the fish?? Dan

Firstly, thankyou Bass for the presentation. I think the turnout proved you had decent support But something i wasn't sure of................ Most anglers in here feel that by putting back a double figure fish is helping to preserve the stock and therefor allowing it to to spwan again in the future........But after the meeting with B.A.S.S it seems that the 4-7lb class will produce more better eggs that will therefor help with future stocks........ So for conservation reasons, is it better to take a nice double for the bbq or a healthy 5lb fish that will produce better quality eggs? Im sure people wouldn't bat an eyelid if i took a 4lb fish, but there may be some eyebrows raised if i banged a 12 pounder on the head!! After the meeting, maybe its now ok to take the big fish and put the more tastier mid sized fish back.... What fish is best to keep? Or did i miss the point ? (p.s...good to meet a few more faces) (pps I don't actually catch any lunkers!!)

To be fair, martin has a point.....If we disliked it that much we wouldn't buy it, and i still buy it. The float fishing for bass artical was among the best ive read and it has a dingy section too. Its all to easy to have a moan (yep, i did i know).

its been poor for a while, not just since Dave took over. I remember the threads that were sent to Jim a while back when he was in the helm and we were having a moan then.......It hasnt got any worse, but has got a bit better..........I still buy it, along with TSF and SA........For some reason i seem to hoard mags(fishing ones) and was sat in bed last night reading december 2004 sea angler winter cod special.

thanks Tom, and i take your point, but thats why i am looking for a 2nd hand one as the budget dosnt stretch at the mo. I may be able to get a dogs gonads type one when im flush but i just want to install something just to get me through the winter. Im only planning to fish within 3 miles of the harbour this winter so thats why im only looking for a basic 2nd hand one. The arial is already fitted.

Just thought id share my encounter with you all........Last Thursday, 2.30pm i was driving through Old Christchurch road in bmth, Just past the Lytten Tree Pub in the pouring rain and all when all of a sudden i have to jam on my breaks as a big fight is going on in the road and happens to carry accross my bonnet once i have stopped.... Its between 2 skanky looking women, whilst a huge blackman whoes part of the group watches on from the side. It soon stops, and one then stands in front of the car so i cant drive off then without warning, the other jumps into the back of my car and sits in my daughters baby seat. The other then tries to jump in the otherside.......... So....what to do....let all 3 in, or speed off with just one loonie in.....thats what i did...... Ive pulled away and just behind me in the back seat, ive got some gross looking women covered in scabs, she then asks to borrow my mobile phone, so i tell her to get lost, meanwhile im trying to still drive away from the others, then she tells me she owes money for drugs. She then asks if i have any lose change which i then decline......im still bricking it as ive a raving lunitic drug addict behind me, even though shes only a women, im still thinking that im going to get a knive in me or something. She now gets mad, and demands i drive her to the Asda cash point, draw out my money and give it to her.....................Again, ive told her where to go......in my worst french...........Just as i see a space to pull over and attemp to wrestle her out, she leaps over me, attacking me as she spies my credit card wallet and phone in a small dish out oh her reach.....im still driving, whilst this mental women is doing her best to give me a battering...........Fighting, whilst trying not to crash is a new one.....I could never multi task I just emergancy stop the car, fight her off, grab my stuff, and keys and jump out, whilst shes still in the back...........i open her door, but she wont get out, i then wrestle her out of the car, and she again goes nuts, blaming me coz now she has to pawn her phone in to get money............. Once out, she has one last ditch attempt to raise some funds...............SHE OFFERS ME THE 'BUSINESS FOR HALF PRICE'........................Like im going to pay to sh@g some dirty scabby heroin addict hooker.....no thanks......... I then find to community officers on the beat who send me to the station where i make a statement and look through over 300 pics on a database matching her description.....I picked someone, but im not really sure what was lurking behind the face, so i said that i couldnt be sure if it was the right person.......... even though its women, if you have an unknown drug addict whos desperate for cash, it can still unnerve you as i was worried that i could be stabbed, or attacked with a needle, or anything.................... Actualy, who cares if its a women, in this case, i should of stuck one on her chin and drove her to the station, but all in hindsight........... Ive had the pi$$ taking out of me from my mates ever since though

yer, about 6ish. all like pea's in a pod, but its the same area that has done fish over 30lb in the past, so every hit got the pulse racing. All on lures, with a few lost fish and also a lost fish on live roach. Spoons has 2 fish and 2 perch, with a 2lb perch being the largest falling to a huge storm shad of about 6 inches long, and the pike in the pic also fell to the huge shad. If i plan another one and my usual crew isnt about, i will lt u know.

Loaded the boat for a few hours fishing at 5.30am....Headed off to Xchurch to launch at Wick. Halfway there, blue lights flashing as im pulled over by the old Bill. My trailer board lead was loose and the lights stopped working, a quick adjustment and an aoplogy and i was back on my way. Launched with an old work mate at very low water at Wick, then instead of going towards the sea, we had a plan, and headed the wrong way up stream for some coarse boat fishing on the lower stour......... Stated off catching roach, before a move put us anchored in a deep pool, decided to try for the pike and big perch and in a few hours we had 3 pike, not big, but all about the same size, followed by with 3 big perch. I know its not sea fishing, but its boat fishing and i loved every minute of it. One of the pike..........and a first of the species for Dat Dam Boat

nah, wick it is, im not actually sea fishing, but boat fishing for pike and chub. Lauching at Wick 6am 2moz morn then going the 'wrong way' up the river towards Iford bridge...........cant wait.....
