launched from muddiford for the comp, and with only one day to play with, i thought id go back for the huss, and but also with a back up plan of a cuckoo and bream. Anyway, mirror water on the ledge, but I found the fish playing hard to find, no huss so plan 2, but only ballens wrass playing ball.... Then a tiny bite, that nearly made me jump out of my skin when i hit it, as the drag was up to tight, and the fish dived hard flat lining the rod, anyway, a decent wrass came to the net, that looked to be a 5 plusser....anyway, it wasnt weighed, and as i was perched at the end of the boat for the piccy, i got hit by some wake from a cruiser and dropped the thing over the side...you win some and loose some. A move just west of xray was the plan, where we landed dogs, plenty of bream, pout, maccy and some bonus smoothound. a nice day to be out.

weddings and being ill. ................im off 2 a wedding sat and will be plastered for my early start sun morn......im not really looking 4ward to it. Oh, will be plastered fri night for my work leaving do aswel, haha....defo not going to be pretty, but am still looking forward to my first comp.

u should pm chris aka thats_a_biggin as he picks up trailers on a weekly basis that he puts on ebay. He will normally sort you out a small trailer at a decent price if hes got one in the garage. He seems to have 2 or 3 at a time along with aux engines/tenders/various boat bits etc.

Gnasher will be staying on the trailer. A hectic wk end that includes lots of booze will prevent me from attending...goodluck all

ive been gagging to get out for a while now, and as last week was blown off, today gave me the perfect chance to get out for the first time this year. The plan was a session for the bream, and it was also a great chance to use the GPS for the first time that I got off BobF. Znyway, steamed over on the little boat with Dom as crew to a spot that Bob had kindly left on the GPS. Found it first time and anchored up between Neo, who was a couple of hundred yards or so south and Marine bouy. We dropped 2 rods each, one with worm/squid cocktail and the other on large double squid baits(these were twice the size of calamari). It was fairly calm early on, with just a light swell, but it picked up quite a bit during the day getting a bit lumpy as the wind picked up. First bite, dom gets a LSD , before my rod shakes in the rests as something angry picks up the bait. Anyway, after a decent scrap, a massive Huss comes aboard, and considering ive never even seen a huss, let alone caught one, i was well happy. a few snaps and then weighed. It was so hard to get a diffucult weighing as by now it was lumpy so i took the lowest reading of 13lb 2oz, but considering it was bouncing much higher, im guessing the real weight woule of been around 15lb. But anyway, im happy to settle for the lowest weight. as the day goes on, a few wrass come aboard, including a beauty cukoo to dom that was recorded at 1lb 5oz. A few more wrass, another huss to me, but only about 5lb, before a move to xray. just some dogs, before we call it a day as dom takes a turn for the worse with sea sickness. A decent day and some nice fish, but no bream. I will post some pics after a brew in the piccy section.

Paul, my crew can only really make sunday, so thats the plan, but he maybe able to make monday if its a blow out if i can twist his arm. We will have to see later in the week

anyone planning a session next weekend? I need to get out........hopefully the weather will play ball, doubt it though, but the wind may be dropping off, and swinging round a bit, so fingers crossed.

im hungry.......... im very envious al....at least i can get out carping, i will if this weekend is blown out anyway.

on my way back from shopping today and thought id pop in at muddiford, just to see if the breakers were leaping into the carpark....ok, they wern't, and it was not as bad as i thought it was going to be, but still much to rough to be out, then i look a bit harder, and a couple of poxy little sailing dingys about 8ft in length are being towed back up the run by the RNLI rib.....these people from the sailing club havnt gotta clue as it was much to rough to even think about taking a craft of that size out, then wasting the time of the RNLI who have to come and save them........plonkers

well i going out rain or shine sun............in the harbour as i need a fix. Prob give xchurch a miss as all the fresh rain water comming down will effect the mullet fishing, so lymo harbour it will be just for some schoolie bashing. 4th june also sounds great. If Dom cant fish(i hope he will, but its his daughters 2nd birthday) i will be looking for crew.

well, im not going out breaming in it in my small boat, unless it completly drops off. i think il either fish the harbour for a bass or mullet, or il drift close in around lymo/penno marshes for some schoolies.......or il stay in bed

i think the bait launcher is in this months TSF......speaking of TSF, Rich, u said Glen blanked on the plaice trip and used someone elses plaice for the pic, i messaged Daz the editor and he thought it was one of the funniest thing hes heard.......he also said, that the other boys were only on the trip to make glen look good....good 2 see hes got a decent sence of humour
