Congrats in joining, and you have chosen a decent boat aswel. Most of the lads are out in the comp 2day so u may not get an instant response to your posting, but over time you will get many offers to 'buddy' a boat where you can follow another member out and generally fish along side him. Give it another month or so, and the summer fish will be back in, and the fishing will become easier. i lanch my boat ( a 15ft dory called Gnasher) from either muddiford or wick, as does loads of other members, so u will meet them on regular occasions. Alot of the fishing is done fairly close in, within just a few miles, and there is great fishing on/off the ledge, southbourne, barton and even very close in to hengisbury head, and thats just the tip of the iceburg. with regards to fish for the pot, there will be maccy everywhere when it warms up, bass should be under them, & the bream and smothhound should be around anytime. The lads are very friendly, although i havnt met them all, of the ones i have fished with, they have all tought me loads. U can even post for crew, have a member join you on you own boat, and then they can generally help either put u on the fish, aswel as showing u some decent rigs, presentation etc. Good luck with your fishing. Dan (Gnasher)

I just thought id mention that apparently some of the crabs are starting to peel anytime (i thought it was far to early yet). Some lads (Nick, who supplies Lonis with bait)were laying their traps in muddiford harbour yesterday as they think the first of the moult is imminent. (the traps are as always, small 12 inch lengths of gutter pushed in the mud) Just thought id mention it as the smoothys will start showing soon. Thanks for the info Dom

i seem to get my ebay accound suspended every other week, from these garbage emails that i pick up.......it defo not suspended though........ I also had an idiot bidding up everythoing that i was trying to sell a year or so ago. The small boat Sweaty Pollocks that i sold had a top bid of

a cracking blond. whats the sort of fuel consumption like on a boat of that size, covering that sort of distance?
-
my last boat, a huge 24ft motor cruiser (peachy) went in and out no problems on the odd occasion she used to get wet.

whats that stand for Duncan? or anybody else that knows?

heres my little man with his 1st fish. I took him fishing for small carp in a local pond, just to get his enthusiasm up. We had a great day, but i'll just take him out on a warm summers day in flat conditions, drifting very close in with some feathers. he aint comming out every time, coz i think he will drive me mad as he dont stop talking........haha

wick isnt to bad....you can also flush the engine with some fresh(ish) water as you go back up the river. Ive put my boat in and out there many times, but it does get very busy as its a free slip, especially in the summer holidays. The slip is very slippery, so be careful, i went ar$e over last summer...... On recovery, if the tide is low, just rope the boat out from the top of the slip, its never been a problem there for me and ive just got a vectra.( i know my boat is small, but ive helped others out with bigger boats last summer with no probs) as already stated, its the entrance you need to watch.

If we couldnt get a league in the evenings, then we could all meet up one evening at one slip, each chuck a fiver in the pot, and the winner takes all.....even if their was only 4 or 5 boats, then it could just be fished as a fun match......light hearted, but still enough to bring out our competative streak in us.......

it all depends on the situation. I have coached many youth football teams and i have to complete a CRB check form. Its a pain, but a coach in my club tried getting through to do coaching sessions, just a few months ago infact, and he was dodgy....the CRB check picked this up. On a brighter note, this will be the first year that i will be able to take my son out, hes 5 in June, i cant wait, as the plan is to help him bag his 1st mullet from the harbour...........cant wait....

Hi Andy, how much was the course and what was the duration of it? Dan p.s...if the text is readable, then its fine by me.......

She moans when im with her and moans when im not.........perhaps i should trade her in for a new model. I keep telling her how lucky she is to be with me, but she dosnt seem to understand.haha
-
ricardo.........whats this girly footy stuff all about???.......it sure beats egg chasing with tight shorts on anyway, haha. I will be there at our comp instead then(hopefully with Dom).
-
Mike...........you are bloody clever. Your right, checked it over and it does say Capri, but i wasnt sure if that was the model or not..Thanks for finding that out for me.
-
Kam, im not sure exactly what model it is, as the bloke who i bought it off wasnt sure, but its a dory with a cathedral hull that is an inch or two under 15ft. Its got a 28hp yammy on the back that will push it at about 20 knots in good conditions. Its very small, very light and its great for a one man launch, it draws very little water so i can get out over the bar, but perfect for where i want to fish. Ive even taken it out 5miles south of the island so if the conditions are not to bad then it does everything that i want it to do and its great for 2 people fishing .............................I couldnt afford anything else anyway....
-
anyone fishing it? I might have a go as ive never fished a boat comp yet, i might use it as a bit of practise for when our own club comps come around..... Dan

Al......Im still very much into coarse fishing, still mainly carp fishing but havnt fished the Half Pit for a while(but i did manage a decent common from there a few years ago) as it now has restricted fishable areas,. I now fish for everything and anything that swims, whether fresh water or salt water. Ive now got a small Dory (Gnasher) that i own with DommyBoy that launches from Muddiford. I would never be able to give up freshwater fishing though, as nothing gets my rocks off more than stalking a decent carp in the edge in crystal clear water....s......orry claire.......) Im really enjoying being at sea though, but still leaning the ropes big time. Welcome to the club. Dan

Hi al Is it the same allan that used to haul those big Ringwood half pit carp whilst having certain limbs in plaster(9-10 years ago)? I used to be a regular on the lake and there used to be a man of the same name fishing during the same season me. I also remember pics in the angling press. I think you had a big common and a decent mirror during that season. Prob a different Al anyway.....just the name is familliar Dan

If the weight is attached to a length of chain, cant it be retrieved alderny ring style? I have on my warp, just above the chain a small inline one way spike whiched has been whipped on so when the ring runs past itas i motor out, it cant run back through without being manually done. That set up would work well if the drag weight was heavier than the length of chain. I would of thought that my set up would work even with out chain aswel. I know its not a very good description but i know what i mean anyway.lol. Just an idea, but ive never used a drag weight, so the idea may be a pile of $hlte.
