I spoke to Rich the other night and said that the boat wouldnt be ready and i was doubtful as my steering was buggered, even though he still done his best to tempt me round with the report of the number of thornies he bagged last year.......Anyway I go to football on Sunday morning, and when i arrive home, theres a complete new steering system fitted by my good mate Edd when I return so the boat is now ready!!!!! I can go........wahooo............. BUT..........after arriving home, I decide to take a trip to casualty as ive taken a bad knock in the mornings game......the Xray gives me a broken ankle, im now in plaster for 6 weeks, cant drive and defo cant get it wet, so no fishing...... no luck for me now and its just after a week after I cried off a pike trip as i was feeling like $hlte.

Chris, were you with Roger when he caught it? (lo0se the capitals)

I will check the diary, hopefully be ok. Only thing is, is i am very lucky to catch a great big pike theres no way that i would have it killed. Does that count me out of the trip then?

sorry, transducer....was tired....lol...there was a mounting bracket, and it is fitted about about 1 inch lower than the bottom of the boat. I would of thought it was in the right position, but may have to trial and error to get it in the right position

Some info on those of who u watched passion for Angling.....Secret Lake, he gets a huge Carp called Fat Lady........The secret lake where that clip was filmed was a different lake to the rest of the episode and it was just stalked from a corner of a pit in Ringwood...not quite so secret (Adam F, i think you probabbly have fished the chalks on somerly?).....Still great viewing even if the blokes do tell a few porkies in the show and still my fave. R.E Matt Hayes....some enjoy, some dont, each have different tastes, i probabbly enjoy that more because i have a course fishing back ground. If i was any good at catching sea fish then Henry would probabbly get my vote, but as im useless, he dosnt get it. Dom....U will just have to get sky..........

Hi Guys, I have bought a great Garmin set up a while back, both fish finder and Gps (thanks Bob F). When the boat is moving slowly (upto say 10 knots) the fish finder reads perfect, but as soon as i pick up the revs the screen wont pick anything up, instead it will just flash and give the same reading that it gave at say 10 knots. Is this due to the extra turbelent water caused by the extra speed from the engine? Possibly the transom in the wrong position? Any other ideas?

There has been a huge ship in front of southbourne rough for the last couple of weeks with a huge long floating pipe type thing (not quite sure what it is as i drive past it to work everyday). Any ideas what it has been doing there?

Rich, they are hardy as anything and will last a million back casts, will last for ages and wriggle like mad and even one will easily float a small hook. Double maggot will float a bigger hook. Using the needle is ok for worms, but they burst the maggot and make them fish very poor. If im there on Sun il bring some maggots up and show u how to make floaters.

TOP TIP>>>> Get a hand full of maggots, put in a bait box, add water until they are just covered. Leave for 30 mins and you will have floating maggots that are still alive and wriggle like mad. Present either one or two on a small hook and they will float the hook and you have the best bait available to use in conjunction with your fly gear for all the fresh water fish. It would also get the spooky mullet off the top aswel.

Gordon, If your fishing the lakes, then use the fly gear, 8lb florocarbon leader, size 10 hook. Get a dog mixer, cut a tiny grove in it with a hacksaw and super glue it to the shank of the hook. It its a flat calm, get the polaroids on and go looking for carp. Loose feed some mixers, get them feeding and away you go. Just leave some space for the back cast. Dom was hammering double figure carp on fly gear a couple of seasons ago. Any help with suitable carp venues that the fly gear can be used let me know. If you want to target big rudd, pick a nice summer evening, scatter the surface with tiny pond pellets and drop a very small dark dry fly in amongst a mass of feeding rudd. Something presented on a size 16 would do the trick, and look to use a 3lb tippet (max). Dan PS Oh, make sure you have plenty of backing if your after decent carp, they can strip the 30m of fly line in no time

Hi folks, I have been trying 4 yonks to upload a new avator as i got rid of mine ages ago. I am trying 2 upload the pis of my boat from the members section, but it takes an age to upload before saying it wont except it..I am sure the file isnt 2 big...any1 ideas why i cant do it?
