  1. Oh Paul, at least your honest, I wouldnt of admitted to that. Well done Gordon on your 1st Eel, I hope to get mine in the summer, especially after watching Paul D bring his one up when we were out, only an average size one that time but boy dont they scrap.
  2. Blimey, everyones getting well involved in this fly fishing lark. Although I dont fish for Trout on the fly, I practised on the carp puddles using fly gear to catch carp using dog biscuits, but have now landed carp well over 20lb at Sway on a the same fly gear. If you are shown how to do it properly Sam then Im sure you will have fun. It also teaches you a lot about water craft that you can then put to good use when you try the esturies for the bass.
  3. Kam, your missus loves fishing aswel.....Best of both worlds

Hi John, she looks fantastic. Mighty cheap to run aswel, I would be forking out about 50 quid in petrol for that. Good luck and happy hauling. Dan
  5. Never heard of them here. He may of been on the drift and snagged the bottom as I have occasionally thought I have hooked a monster only to relise that it wasnt to be. Sorry Jack, I cant help with the question though.
  6. Hey Jack, your missus missed the ones out like myself who are "between jobs", haha. Yep my wifey calls me a sado aswel. BOTHERED???????? NOT!!!! She can stick to her aqua aerobics and netball. haha

  8. whats the bit of water called off Portland Bill? Is that the Race?? I was looking out off there yeaterday and most of the sea had an average swell, except an area about 500m off that was just an area of mass disturbed water with massive waves. Is this a sand bar or something?

    Sharks

I think there was a print in the Echo last year or so about a Threasher being caught by a dingey angler a couple of miles off Bmth beach.......JAWS!!!! I hae the full complete Art of Fishing collection that has a few write ups about Trevor Housby and his Shark Fishing off St Catherines, although he wouldnt print his exact location. He also mentioned hair rigging baits to stop deep hooking so they can be released which was also a good read. I used to go to youth Club with his son Russel Housby and was always envious of his pics from abroad he showed me of Marlin, Tuna and Sail Fish that he caught. Trevor was also a top Fly angler in this country and he has done a few trout write ups on outings with John Wilson.
  10. Took the missus away for a long weekend in weymouth, the harbour is spectacular. Anyway we also went into West Bay at Bridport then off to Lyme Regis. I couldnt beleave my eyes when walking along the sandy bay there must of been 200 washed up dogfish about 50 Bullhuss, many over 10lbs and plents of Ray, still with the wings. I simply cant beleave netting boats dump this amount of unwanted fish. Is this normal practise for these boats to do this? Some of the Ray had been de-winged but there was still fish scattered everywhere with the gulls going mad over them.
  11. How funny this link should be mentioned as Im just about to build a small tender boat for myself out of Fibreglass, I think that will be much easier than a 23footer though. Im just doing a small baton frame, with ply base and sides and fibre glassing the whole thing over the top inside and out. I can predict a proper bodge job comming on but I think it will be fun and Ive only got to row the thing 30m anyway so anything that floats will do me. Oh and Lewis my 3yr old is my labourer.......
  12. Its not to bad, perfect for inshore stuff when the conditions are right, I wouldnt take it to say the back of the needles though, remember its only 13ft so you need to make sure conditions are right. I done most of my fishing on it drifting around Hengisbury head and it does get a bit choppy there and it was fine. Damn good for flounder fishing to in the harbour.
  13. Its advertised elsewhere for 400 squid, thats the lowest it can go for. The trailor isnt great, needs painting but its all pretty sound and the boat can be lifted by two. has new trailor board.
  14. dosnt look like a sandeel paul, looks more like a mouse presentation
  15. Its a P Sweaty Pollock.....
  16. Welcome Adam, I have a mooring in Muddiford so maybe we can try for some pollock and mackrel on the Fly. Thunder Child will be moored just out of the Muddiford Slip. Dan
  17. Dont know if its nice, but it floats and the engine is sound.
  18. Avon beach is the beach is out past muddiford run. I am going to try a floating line but a decent size sinking fly on the end. Its going to be trial and error for me to. Try Adams tip aswel, I will.
  19. Sold, haha Well, offers??
  20. and another
  21. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD I have a 13ft day boat with cuddy for sale, complete with trailor and johnson 7.5hp outboard. The engine is reliable and in good working order. I need to sell it because I need the money to finance the repairs to Thunder Child. There is a few repaires to the full and there is a split in the seat at the back, but apart from that she has done me proud fishing inshore chasing them mackrel, bass and flounder. Theres rod rests, anchore, fuel tank, ores etc Im looking around
  22. Happy birthday LBB Dan
  23. Hi Alex The fishing out of xchurch is great with the ledge only a few mins away (im sure the others will touch on this). If you want to fly fish for mackrel then drift really close in along avon beach and follow the shoals. Dont go more than about 60m or so out and just look for them splashing. I have just bought a 8weight fly outfit with the same plan as you in mind. An evening after a real hot summers day with no wind is ideal and just drift with the shoals. A bonus bass may turn up as I was catching them trolling along avon beach last summer with feathers. Dan

Will do Adam, the photos will be done when she has had her new paint job, shes even having her name changed (bad luck I know, but her luck couldnt of been worse since the problems she has had over the last 5 months. Bye bye Peachy, and say hello to Thunder Child). Ooh I getting excited now, lol
